Our first stay in Athens was at the Herodion Hotel, on my birthday on May 23rd, 2016. The all Greek staff greeted us with a smile and a gift of a fruit bowl and water in our hotel, because it was my birthday. their breakfast is out of this world. Delicious. This was our second stay at the Herodion. That evening,...

Dear ctsounis, We are so very glad that we achieved our credo “making visitors feel as guests”. The staff is the “heart” of this effort and we are very proud to have such a team, thank you for noticing their efforts. Starting from our staff's training to the interior decoration and our gastronomy at POINT a restaurant, we focus on...

My wife and I spent our first three nights in Greece at this hotel this past September. The location cannot be beaten. Steps away from the Acropolis Museum and the Acropolis and Plaka. The rooms are not huge, but very clean and comfortable. The Point a restaurant was a highlight. Incredible food, drinks, and view. Finally, the staff could not...

This is the perfect hotel to stay at if you want to visit Athens, especially on foot! Me and my partner managed to walk everywhere from here. The Acropolis is only 10mins walk away to the main entrance and the museum is right next door. Plaka is about 10mins away and all other main areas of Athens is about a...

Located right next door to the Acropolis Museum and minutes away from the Acropolis and other attractions, you can't miss with the Herodion. The hotel is modern and upscale. Rooms are comfortable and more spacious than many European hotel rooms. The property has a rooftop bar and restaurant that we spent many a night enjoying a drink and taking in...

Herodian was the best in terms of locations, Acropolis, Plaka, the metro station were all walking distance and it was still tucked in a quiet lane. Staff was great. They had a good breakfast spread. It was the same everyday but was still good :). Rooms were decently sized. We went in November so the rooftop area was shut but you...

Very good place for a stay: very close to acropolismuseum and acropolis. No Problem to find a Nice Place for Dinner nearby, but it is not necessary to go outside: you eat very good to a fair Price in the Hotel. I can recommend this Hotel, very good Service.

Staying in Thissio / Makriyanni

Neighborhood Profile
Thissio / Makriyanni
Named after the well-preserved Thission (ancient temple of Hephaestus), Thissio is blessed with a small wooded park and some less frenetic streets that offer numerous quieter places to stay and eat. Largely pedestrianized Apostolou Pavlou Street runs between the Acropolis and forested Filopappou Hill, well worth climbing for more great panoramas, until it merges with Dionysiou Areopagitou Street. This leads to the up-and-coming area of Makriyanni, whose centerpiece is the magnificent new Acropolis Museum. Opposite the museum is the entrance to the southern slopes of the Acropolis, while the eponymous metro station nearby is at the top of Makriyanni Street, another strip of touristic cafés and restaurants.

“Room was spotless and had everythingyou needed inc a great shower. The bed and room were very small. I found it very hot in the room so we opened the juliette balcony window but due to the position of our room (it overlooked the back of the hotel), it was noisy due to a generator going on and off all night. Bed was comfortable for for two of us very small I was glad i was only staying one night for that reason alone as the actual hotel was really lovely and the breakfast delicious”
