I thoroughly read reviews for a number of different hotels before booking at the Athens Gate. I wasn't disappointed. The location is amazing. You are right near everything. The Acropolis and the associated metro station are right around the corner. There are tons of little restaurants and shops within a short walk. The breakfast is included and offers a large variety of options. The staff was friendly. It is right along a major road so some reviews said that it can be noisy. I was on the Acropolis side (you have to request that in your booking) which is opposite the major road and I didn't notice the noise and I am a light sleeper.. I would definitely go back.
Stayed here as a solo traveller and chose this hotel after I read the reviews. I would DEFINATELY recommend this hotel for its close proximity to the acropolis. It would take you 5 mins to there. Hotel staffs went out of their way to make our stay as memorable as possible. Left my phone behind in the taxi and the staff went out of his way to help me out to get my phone back. Breakfast was okay. But would highly recommend this hotel for it’s location. Staffs and cleanliness.
This is so much luxury for me - the views are tremendous from roof top restaurant great room with balcony but not necessarily a view of any importance But a balcony - fresh air Great breakfast included
Stayed here for a long weekend and was very impressed. It's in fantastic location with amazing views from some rooms. However if you really want views go up to the roof top bar / restaurant - it's amazing! Breakfast has plenty of choice and very tasty. Food & drinks are reasonably priced and there's a good selection. Rooms are spacious with balconies but lacking a dressing table. Overall, would definitely recommend.
We truly had a wonderful stay at athe Athens Gate Hotel. Here is a summary of what made the stay so special. 1. Location. We were almost at the very foot of the Acropolis; the main entry gate at the west end of Acropolis was just 10 minutes stroll away, the Acropolis Museum not even 5 minutes away. The Temple of the Olympic Zeus was right across the street though the official entrance was about a 7-minute stroll from the hotel. Syntagma Square was literally up the road, 12 minutes along the boulevard in front of the hotel. Get exploring around the historic and quaint Plaka district that borders the hotel 2. Great views. Head to the restaurant/bar on the 8th floor. Breakfast was included during our stay and it seemed the west side - facing the Acropolis - filled up quickly. It may have also been that the east side might have been too bright in the morning sun. Just about all the attention was focused on the Acropolis with fellow guests stepping out onto the balcony to take pics. Balcony dining was available but the weather was just too cold when we visited. Be sure to look at the ruins of the Temple of the Olympic Zeus as well on the other side by the bar. 3. Friendly staff, decent spoken English, always ready to help with suggestions 4. Decent breakfast buffet with Greek and more typical western/American dishes. 5. Rooftop restaurant and bar with decent food and good service. And the view, again. The hotel is of a contemporary design. The lobby had couches and there was even as small bar just off the lobby. We never had drinks down there, though. The elevator was small as was our room. Definitely do not bring a lot of luggage if you do not want to take several elevator trips to your room and if you want to have some space to move around in your room. Our bathroom was of decent size relative to the room and had a view of the Acropolis. Our balcony was incredibly spacious, seemingly bigger than our room. We enjoyed a bottle of local white wine on our balcony watching the changing colors of sunset and the lights of Acropolis come on.…
