The Royal Olympic Hotel boasts a location that has received high marks from many travelers for its proximity to key attractions and transport options. However, the hotel's atmosphere presents a dichotomy; guests admire the grandeur of the lobby but find the room decor disappointingly outdated. Concerns regarding room size, amenities, and comfort are echoed by numerous guests, although the overall cleanliness is generally applauded. While some visitors commend the staff's professionalism, others are left unimpressed by the service quality. The hotel's value proposition is frequently questioned, especially in light of the room rates and perceived shortcomings.

In an excellent location, the Royal Olympic is across a busy street from the National Gardens and Hadrian’s Arch, and convenient to the splendors of the Acropolis while being just distant enough from the pickpockets and the noise of the nightlife. Younger tourists might prefer a more “hip” location, but it was ideal for us seasoned travelers. The rooms are a bit shabby but very clean and comfortable: the curtain showed a repaired section, the bathtub was very narrow and old-school (although we all fit in it - not all four of us at once, of course!) Each room has a balcony, and if you pay for the view side, you will get a great view of antiquities. Otherwise, you will see them from the rooftop restaurant, which serves an extensive, very good Greek breakfast that’s included. (We also had a fine dinner at the restaurant, which is not included.)
Staff is all courteous and helpful, They’ll do currency exchange for euros at a good rate.
With Covid protocols, do put out your “Please make up my room” door sign for daily service.

The lobby and common areas are beautiful. The rooftop restaurant is nice with views of the Acropolis. Good location that is next to Plaka. The rooms have not been updated in decades. No coffee/tea in rooms and they do not allow taking a cup of coffee from the restaurant to your room. Staff does their job but is not friendly or helpful.

Stayed here for 4 nights for a conference in Megaron. The hotel was a refurbished classic hotel which means the room and decorations were new, but still in classic style. Think of classic curtains, carpet, headboard of the bed and bed cover were all in matching cobalt blue and gold. Large room. My king bed consisted of 2 single beds placed together. Gilded picture frame surround the flat screen TV. No electric socket near the bed. Small fridge without kettle/ coffee/ tea making facilities. Bathroom was bright in white marble. Toilet produced rather loud flushing sound.
My room looked over the outdoor swimming pool in the courtyard. But the terrific close-up view of Temple of Oympian Zeus could be appreciated from the rooftop restaurant/breakfast room, with Acropolis some distance away. Breakfast had various options, including Grecian cuisine. However, the drawback is the opening time, which was 7:00 am, which would be too late to go to the early conference. Before 7, there will be only orange juice, coffee and some simple cakes. One morning, I was waiting for the opening time to grab something quickly for the early session, there was a large Chinese tour group who had also been waiting to enter, and when they got in, the staff were not prepared and could not handle the situation. Apart from this, it was a fine stay.

The hotel from arriving is stunning and as that feeling off opulence.
After booking a Deluxe Double room , went to room and it was over looking the pool room 368, from the the website picture it showed it was views looking out to the city.
I did go to ask at reception and the nice concierge said i could have a room over looking the main road but is nosey with trafic.
The rooms have that nice warm and lush feel and veary large bed, as well veary comfortable to sleep on.
The breckfast is served on top floor 7 and as the stunning views of athens land mark's food is fresh and a good selection from any country you come from, staff are extremely polite and friendly.
Did look at the evening menu but for me i feel for a three courses and couple drinks it would be around 150 euros per head, i feel it was bit high even tho nice views. But haveing beautiful meal out side the hotel five minutes away for just 30 euros a head.
The views can be seen in the day buy walking round the city.
My only one disappointment, unknown to me my wife had booked a serprize in the room on arrival as it was my 60th, but it was not there and never arrive at any time off the stay. If i knew this i would have Inquired but was only told when we had got home.
I would recommend this hotel if you looking for luxury place to stay. As well so easey to all the attraction.

We had a very pleasant stay. The hotel is in a good location being in walking distance of the Acropolis and the Acropolis museum and other attractions. All the staff were friendly and helpful. We had an Executive room which was very nice and clean. No tea / coffee making facility in the room as we would have expected. There was a mini bar in the fridge - too expensive.
The restaurant where the breakfast is served is lovely with great views of the Acropolis. The breakfast buffet was plentiful and varied, though disappointing for vegans. If you require gluten free you would have to ask.

This hotel has a fantastic view of the Acropolis from their rooftop restaurant, which is also where breakfast is served. This should be reason enough to stay there - but for group it wasn't. First of all, the hotel includes rooms with no natural light, and some of us were put in dark holes in the middle of the building (I was offered a better room after complaining, but others who paid the same amount of money were put in better rooms right away). The rooms themselves have zero additional comfort - no coffee machine or water heater, no mini bar, no ironing board... it's just the bed and the bathroom (friends staying in larger room experienced the same situation). Internet connection was also a problem, it was very spotty and made work impossible (fell down every 3-5 minutes). Finally, the breakfast menu did not include any GF, plant based options if your family needs them.
Overall, we found that the hotel was in a wonderful location and had a terrific view, but what they offered otherwise did not justify the price tag. We'll be staying someplace else next summer when we return to Athens.

This “5 star” hotel is worse than any garbage motel I can find back in the US. First off, the room my wife and I were placed in was absolutely disgusting. First thing we noticed was mosquitos flying around the room, dust and dirt on the carpet, bed frame, curtains, chair, and desk. Bathroom was beyond out dated, the tub was stained and disgusting. This room had no control over the AC and it was very hot in the room when we arrived. So we figured, “whatever, we’ve been traveling all day let’s just eat and then address this room” so we ordered the horribly over priced room service. I got one of the WORST burgers I’ve had in a long time, my wife’s chicken Caesar salad was soggy and dripping with the watered down dressing and covered with shreds of extremely dry and old chicken. Upon taking one or two bites of the food, we both covered the plates, gathered our bags and went back to the front. The hotel did accommodate us after hearing about the state of the room, but it wasn’t much better. At least this room was slightly more clean, with still virtually no control over the very bad air condition. The “king size bed” is just two twin mattresses thrown together. Not to mention they have their own sheet sets and if you try to sleep in the middle to be close to your partner, the mattresses will slide straight off the bed. The key card reader works maybe 1 out of every 5 attempts to unlock the door. Oh also bring your own pillows and blankets if you want to be comfortable at all. These pillows completely flatten out the second your head touches it and the sheets are rough and scratchy. Did I mention the room is still very hot? And if you take a shower wear shoes that have grips and be prepared for the bathroom floor to be flooded because the drainage here is a joke. This hotel needs to be knocked down and rebuilt under new ownership because CLEARLY the current owners couldn’t care less about the state of this place. This was a terrible experience and I’m going to make sure that every person I know that visits Athens does NOT stay at the Royal Olympic. This crap hole is a 2 star hotel at best and that’s being generous. Do not waste a DIME staying here.

We stayed for two nights after 4 nights we stayed in Santorini , the hotel location is perfect , we were going out a-lot and walking distance to many visitors spots,
To be honest the hotel is lovely and big but we never thought to go the pool as it’s looks small and the pool area is very tiny, we booked the room with breakfast and we had it once and didn’t repeat it , as well we went to the restaurant at the top floor 7th floor the view is amazing but the food is disappointing, so we decided not to eat anything at the hotel but outside, food outside was amazing specially at this two roads for tourists near to Acropolis and the hotel , just waking there feels lovely and great, many people and not too crowded .

This was our first time to Greece in general and what we learned not everywhere the food os good but most the outside restaurants food were amazing and very tasty as we gained alot of weight of how much we ate.

The hotel is old design which we were fine with it but needs renovation and needs to place room amenities as any 5* hotels does, like there’s no kettle in the room, no cups , no iron or iron board, toilet amenities they place it for one person, the food is horrible. Plus the room we booked wasn’t like the pictures on their website.

We faced bad service in santorini so we decided to ignore any other bad service as we get to know that greece doesn’t have good service so u need to live with it and ignore it and try to enjoy the holiday.

We live in dubai so service here is more way different ( Excellent everywhere)

They needs to improve themselves and get more reception staff as there were always one receptionist and we had que for long time even to reactivate the room key.

Firstly, this is the only hotel in Greece that has apple juice, you CANNOT find that anywhere else. Thank you. Even better than the juice is the view from the restaurant, just spectacular and complements the great food very nicely.

BUT, please, please, please check that you have booked your room of choice as not all the rooms in the hotel have a window!

Having managed to stay in three different rooms, I might say that I am one of the more qualified reviewers of this hotel with each room only getting better! Beds were very comfortable, carpets are clean, minibars are stocked, toiletries are nice, really anything that you could ever want is here.

Further, the staff at the front desk are very friendly and happy to help, whatever the request, extending to the doormen and porters too.

Overall, excellent stay and I am looking forward to coming back one day. 12/10

Great hotel with great location and staff, stayed here for 2 nights on my way back from Venice, Italy. Couple things that I wanted to point out is the mini bar that doesn’t have coffee or hot water which is an essential in 4+ hotels, and the fact that you need to pay extra for a latte or cappuccino during breakfast. Beside that it was a pleasant stay and would recommend
