Located in the middle of everywhere with a superb breakfast buffet and stunning views. On my three stays there I found service, especially in the front desk, exemplary. Pricey, but I believe, worth it.

I booked this hotel for a trip at Easter 2020 which due to Covid 19 Lockdown and travel prohibitions was cancelled however rather than cancel the booking I rearranged at greater cost to the end of October 2020 which was accepted and confirmed as was my request to check in early.Understandably given current situation I used the free cancellation option when booking. I was therefore very surprised to be ad vised via the booking agent(not Trip sdviser) today that my booking could no longer be facilitated having checked avialability it would appear that some booking options are available via other booking services but only if prepaid. In any event i have made alternaive arrangements and would not consider booking with such an unreliable Hotel ever again particularly having read some of the Reviews here1

We were booked to stay at the Royal Olympic Hotel but were forced to cancel our trip due to COVID travel restrictions imposed. Our travel agent has been trying to cancel our September booking since July, but the Royal Olympic has declined to respond to any communication. It seem this hotel is happy to take bookings and your money, but this is where their interest in their guests ceases.

Stayed here recently, and I am amazed at how this is considered a five star hotel or a luxury hotel! The lobby is nice ( the ONLY THING that’s “nice” in the lobby is the lobby). The check-in help (girl with black hair) and heavy set old man, were a bit unfriendly. But I honestly brushed that stuff off because that is a personal issue of theirs, not mine. I was there to see Greece. LOL The rooms are so OUTDATED!!! In our room there was a really creepy stained glass window at the head of our bed that opened up toward the bed and from what we thought to be an alley, or unused hallway, but it creeped my husband and I out tremendously! It had a pull up/down shade that covered it, which made us wonder where that hall behind it led, and if people came through there. Needless to say that shade was down 24/7 and the window was closed during our visit because when open it was not at all safe. Just creepy!! Oddly our room was an internal room too. The lighting was terrible, the television was small and channels were nonexistent (thank god that I brought my laptop). The internet is not constant. It “resets” at 2:45 daily. Information that they do not volunteer at the front desk upon check-in. It IS a centrally located hotel- that is a plus. It’s near everything (Plaka, Temple of Zeus, Hadrians Arch, view of Acropolis (not far from acropolis, City Sightseeing Hop on Hop off Bus Tour stops A5 and A8). So, since our purpose was to see Athens, I used this place for its purpose- to sleep, shower and sightsee easily. It served its purpose. As for the breakfast buffet that was included in our reservation, we passed completely! My husband went up to see what it looked like, and we never went up again. I’d rather give the local shops my business. Note: One of the best lunch places for souvlaki, etc, near this hotel is “Meat Me-Food Corner”!! We got hooked on their souvlaki! And the warmest, friendliest staff! Inexpensive and food is phenomenal! If I visit Greece (Athens) again, I will opt for a different hotel in that area. Location of Royal Olympic is GREAT!!! Staff not so much. Rooms not so much. But Athens is beautiful!!!!!

We recently stayed at Olympic Royal and were very impressed with the lobby, breakfast area and their staff. However, the rooms are very dated and did not have any AC on demand. The solution was opening the windows but the sounds of traffic and carbon monoxide not so much!! The breakfast selection was pretty good but even better was the view from the terrace.
