We got a wonderful deal on this hotel and we did not know what to expect upon arrival. As many have suggested, this hotel has the “once great” feel - it was clearly a very posh place from its decor and it hasn’t been renovated in a while, but was still very nice. There was a business center, pool, bar, reading room, and a gorgeous rooftop restaurant where (free) breakfast and dinner/drinks can be bought. Also, the location was perfect for touring ruins and enjoying nightlife. Our room for 3 was lovely with a separate room for our daughter which she loved. Breakfast had great offerings but got crowded very fast. Our only complaints were issues that could improve with updating. The tub shower was difficult to stand in because it was too small. The walls and windows were very thin so we had many issues with outside and neighbor noises. The hot water was inconsistent - going from searing hot to ice cold with every toilet flush from a neighbor. And the air conditioning was non existent. We sweated all night long. But for what we paid, we tolerated it.…
Very well located next to Actopolis and nice rooftop bar and restaurant. Otherwise, really so so and not my idea of 5 star hotel. Surly greeting at check in, tired and not clean looking reception area, rooms small, old fashioned decor and cheap furniture. The elevator arrangements are mad, multiple tiny lifts you can barely get 2 people in and have seperate hotel sections to get from rooms to bar and restaurant requires two lift trips. So most of our time spent queuing for the lift. The breakfast was quite nice I guess. Shout out for the bar staff, they gave superb customer service and wonderful cocktails. Otherwise basically a bit rubbish.
We had a trip to Athens me and my wife for 4 days on the second week of July 2022. We stayed in Royal Olympic hotel. The hotel location is very good, staff are very friendly. however the hotel is old, not recently renovated,. There is no kettle in the rooms which was annoying for me specially in 5 stars hotel. In addition to that, they didn't clean my room during my all stay. The breakfast restaurant has very nice view, however the food varieties are limited.
The location is wonderful! You have amazing views of the acropolis. The lobby and checkin counter could be friendlier but other than that I would say the accommodations are fair. The room is a little outdated especially the bathrooms, but clean and comfortable. Walking distance to Acropolis. Great area!
We stayed (a party of 3) at the Royal Olympic in early July for 5 nights. The hotel was booked as part of a group tour however we arrived 2 days early to enjoy the city. I was anxious before arriving, having read all the less-than-positive reviews but was pleasantly surprised. We were greeted by friendly staff and immediately shown to our rooms after a 10.5-hour flight. The location of this hotel can't be beaten. It is within walking distance of many attractions such as the Acropolis, Plaka, and Parliament. It is also a short taxi ride to the port. Our only "complaint" is that the pool closed at 7 pm. We would have loved to go for a late evening swim after a long day exploring the city. We would return to this hotel without hesitation.
The air conditioning in my room didn’t work. The room wouldn’t go below 23°C/73°F, even at night. I called the front desk, a “technician” came to say it was working while laughing and left. Called the front desk again and was told “sorry we couldn’t meet your expectations” I have 3 more sweaty nights here as I write this review
Perfect location for sightseeing! Within walking distance to a lot of attractions! Amazing view from restaurant and bar on top floor. Staff were lovely especially Lefternis who worked in the bar, he always made sure we were looked after. The hotel seemed to be short staffed like everywhere at the moment! We did not mind waiting but other guests were more demanding and impatient! I felt sorry for the staff as they were doing their best in stressful circumstances. We had a lovely holiday and would go back again.
The lobby and rooftop restaurant and bar sell the place well, but staying in the rooms was uncomfortable. The “deluxe” king rooms had weak air conditioning, overly firm beds and tight bathroom with accompanying bipolar water heating. We had 4 rooms (all the same) and these are the common opinions we had between all 8 of us (between ages 16 to 65). The front desk said the suites do not offer any enhancement for the air conditioning or mattress comfort, just size. The staff were pleasant and kind, especially the bellmen! I don’t think this hotel is tolerable more than 2 nights.
They say it’s a 5 Stars Hotel and this is like a Motel 2 Stars. Old Rooms and hotel. In a single shower you have like 20 temperatures at the same time. The basic room it’s terrible. Shower it’s like 10inch. Terrible breakfast. My worst experience ever.
I booked a trip to Athens in two weeks.through orbitz.i was notified through delta my flight back to states canceled.they gave me a second flight, never confirmed.i called again,no flight back so had to cancel whole trip.this is the lovely hotel we booked.they refuse to refund 1600 dollars we paid as part of the package.airline is refunding.i did not cancel this trip, orbitz booked something they could not stand up for..this hotel wants to just keep my hard earned money for no reason of my own.when I do come back to Athens I will never stay here.this is awfull policy.credit card company aware
