A 21 room hotel with average-to-boring standard and superior rooms. Suites looks good, but are a bit pricy. No on-site fitness or pool (but with free pass to Holmes fitness 10 min walk away). Only showers in rooms and room walls single-colored without pictures. Ceiling is a city picture in my room. Room has automatic curtains / blinds and window... More

The Periscope is a small, slightly funky, but comfortable contemporary hotel in a fabulous location in Kolonaki. It's five short blocks up the hill from Vasilissis Sofias with the Benaki, Byzantine and Cycladic Museums and the Evangelismos metro station, which goes directly to the airport. While it is "up" the hill, you can reach the hotel by taxi and do... More

The location was excellent. Kolonaki is an area filled with restaurants, cafes, ecclectic shops and within walking distance to some great sites. Breakfast was basic and hotel not particularly kid friendly in terms of amenities. Stefania is so cheerful, helpful and lovely and guided us well to navigate the city and was great with my kids.

Very helpful young lady on desk in the day. Very comfortable rooms and fab breakfast- greek yogurt, and honey and eggs cooked every way. My husband loved the home-smoked salmon and various breads- lot more besides. Such a chic area and very near to everything, once you find your feet!

I had higher expectations when I booked this hotel given it was part of the Design Hotel group. As noted by others, the location is very good on a quiet street in Kolonaki. Service was average, not overly friendly, but basic. The room was good-sized and the black out window coverings were convenient to operate and much welcomed. Wifi was... More

We book and stay in SPG (Starwood Preferred Guest)hotels whenever we travel. These hotels are always (or should I say "usually") of a certain standard and we have become comfortable when making a booking at an SPG hotel that a similar standard of hotel service and facilities will be met. This was the case when we selected the Periscope hotel... More

Very clean and modern boutique hotel in upmarket Kolonaki. Rather noisy at night if you leave the doors open! Staff very helpful. Lovely Greek breakfast. Downside is the lack of space in the bathroom to put out your toiletries! Great position . If you can, take the penthouse which has an amazing view of Athens.

Staying in Kolonaki / Lykavittos

Neighborhood Profile
Kolonaki / Lykavittos
By far the ritziest neighborhood in town, Kolonaki is home to most of the chic boutiques and designer label stores. Here, the wealthy say no to austerity by dressing in their finest and spending hours in the trendy cafés around Kolonaki Square, sipping the most expensive coffee in Europe. The area also contains a couple of notable museums and cultural institutions, which add to the air of nobility. The leafy upper reaches of Kolonaki transition into Lykavittos Hill, the highest point in central Athens. Climb the paths through its wooded slopes to the tiny chapel at the top, from where you are rewarded with stunning views across the Acropolis to the sea and even the mountains of the Peloponnese on a clear day. The wooden amphitheater up here hosts regular concerts during the summer.
