We stayed there for October holidays and even though it was Covid times we still had a great experience, the hotel staff are so kind and helpful. I wanted to say a big thank you to the breakfast staff for my treat . I remember you every time i have a seep of my coffee. x
My stay in Athens became something very different to what I had originally planned! The original plan was to stay for 4 nights, but given that Greece remained in the UK travel corridor, additional meetings where scheduled and, well, much nicer weather than back in London, my stay ended up being for 14 nights! There is very little to fault this hotel on. The location is very good (ok, it's not in the centre of the "old town", but it is not a long walk.....and it is certainly closer than some other 5-star chain hotels), the service was pretty much excellent all-round (can't fault any staff member or department) and COVID precautions were excellent as well (hand gel stations in several locations, masks and gloves also available in reception and all staff were clearly following protocol). The hotel also gets massive marks for the pool, which is an oasis in Athens, frankly! Oh, and the breakfast service was fantastic- especially considering that it was still technically a reduced service (made me wonder what a full service included as I really was not left wanting anything else). A few things to “warn you” about, however: - The Acropolis view rooms do have a view of the Acropolis, but it is at a little bit of a distance. That said, the Acropolis view rooms still get my vote as it also overlooks the pool and has a great view of the city. You can also see the sea from the rooms on higher floors. - The prices for food and drink in the hotel are high. Very high. 35 Euros for a burger (30 if pool side), 8 Euros for a Diet Coke etc etc. Yes, I appreciate that it is a 5-star hotel but even so, there are limits to what is within the realms of being acceptable. - Whilst the facilities are very good, the hotel is feeling a little “dated” (not surprising given that the last refurbishment was some 17 years ago). I would highly recommend this hotel and I would have absolutely no issues coming back.…
After a morning of enjoyment at the marvellous adjacent museums, including Benaki and Byzantine & Christian, it was time for lunch. Here was perfect. Passing the tremendous Runner sculpture, we settled in for an enjoyable repast. Choices and fare were tasty. With the warm welcome, pleasant atmosphere and good value, it was a fine interval.
Being a Hilton I expected more of the brand. The room was as you would expect but the fridge did not work to keep my complimentary water cold. The rooftop Galaxy resturant and bar is fine but had a very limited menu. Breakfast was a different matter. The food was just warm and service poor. I had to go and see a waitress and asked for butter for my toast, by the time it came the toast was cold and the butter was solid! It took another 10 minutes to make it so it would spread! Come on Hilton get your act together !!
We stayed here for five nights in October. The service is limited to say the least and the staff quite abrupt! There is very little open and the gym you have to book 24 hours in advance. The spa is shut the pool bar is shut. The rooms are sparse and you have to book to get it cleaned! Despite Covid there is little effort in making it a pleasurable stay. A Russian VIP staying meant airport style security four times a day!!! Ridiculous
