My wife and steed here at the end of October, 2022 to celebrate our birthdays. We were upgraded to a junior suite and provided a bottle of champagne in our room, and bottle of Greek Brandy and cookies. This hotel is luxurious, and it's the little details that make it. everything from the welcoming champagne, the fabulous complimentary breakfast, the heat turned on in the room at night (rundown service), a great location within the city, the friendly and attentive staff, and remarkable views from the rooftop restaurant while dining or just having drinks. Superb service and accommodations. Definitely worth staying while in Athens.
While we spent only one night at this property, we found it to be ideal for our stay. The hotel is centrally located and makes an easy starting point for exploring Athens by foot. As an example, the hotel sits directly across the street from the Parliament Building and Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, so you can easily catch one of the changing of the guards ceremonies—this is even more special on Sundays when the guards are in their ceremonial attire—before heading the short distance to the National Garden and then the Temple of Zeus. As for the hotel itself, the rooftop bar/restaurant on the 8th floor is truly a stunning spot to have a drink, eat a quick breakfast, or enjoy a leisurely, delicious, and graciously served dinner. . . All with the Acropolis and Parthenon floating on the horizon! Indeed, regardless of your other plans, the Garden Roof should certainly be on your itinerary. Finally, while the rooms appear to differ quite a bit, our two rooms were both quite large and featured very comfortable beds with crisp linens and soft pillows.…
The Hotel GB is an ideal place to stay. The location is central to everything. The service is impeccable. The concierge staff on the Butler floor are extremely helpful, knowledgeable and definitely make great recommendations.
Incredible stay at the hotel. We were celebrating my daughter’s graduation at this trip Checked us in with the bubbly. The views from the rooftop were amazing!! Loved our stay here! Would definitely recommend.
Stayed at this very elegant hotel for a pre-cruise. I arrived from the airport around 10am and did not expect to be able to check in until 2-3pm. But to my delight, the very courteous and lovely receptionist told me my room was ready. The room was beautifully appointed with a balcony overlooking the Syntagma Square. The roof top garden where I had breakfast has a lovely view of the acropolis. The breakfast spread was sumptuous with everything one would want for breakfast. Hotel staff can arrange for a nurse to come to a guest’s room for a COVID test — which is a cruise requirement — for 35 Euro. Not only was it much more convenient than doing it at the port, but less costly as well. Also another convenience: an Alpha Bank ATM on the lower level. Taxi fare from the airport is a flat fee of 40 euro. There is a big sign at the taxi stand indicating that this amount includes any and all extra fees. Nevertheless, some dishonest taxi drivers wanted extra money for toll fee. So be sure to confirm 40 euro with the driver before getting into his car. Although the taxis have credit card machines, all the drivers said their machines do not work and will only accept cash. I was very pleased to have stayed at this grand hotel with top rated staff.…
What an amazing stay! This hotel is gorgeous. Rooms are quiet, spacious and incredibly clean. Shops are great, food was out of this world! I highly recommend the spa. Walking distance to many shops, restaurants and historical sites.
Visited with friends for an early evening drink. As you would expect the hotel is very well appointed and despite not having a reservation we were greeted efficiently and professionally and shown to a table on the outside patio. Great views of the Acropolis. Extensive drinks and cocktail list and my Negroni was perfect. Service was impeccable as you would expect from an establishment such as this. Yes, it is a premium place but we'll worth it as a great for the drinks, atmosphere, service and views.
I expected this hotel to be incredible based on the reviews — but it wasn’t. Athens was the first stop on our honeymoon and we picked the hotel in part because it was one of the few luxury hotels in Athens with a pool. I wish we hadn’t. The lobby was nice, as was the rooftop restaurant. But our room was dated and tiny. Dark old furnishings and fabrics, tiny shower, one small window and it was so small that we had to stack our suitcases. We were very happy we were there for only a short stay and would not return.
Great staff with helpful Concierge who pointed us to some nice local bistros, eg Ella's <10 minute walk. Good location to walk to many sites. Tremendous view of the Acropolis from the 8th floor rooftop restaurant. We had a large room o the 6th floor with big, modern bathroom. Nice lobby bar with piano at night. Couldn't be better, wish we could have stayed > 2 nights.
We had wanted to stay at this hotel for years. It is right on Syntagma Square opposite Parliament. It seems expensive, but you do get what you pay for. From the wonderful check-in experience to the staff member who showed us through our room, very little faltered on our 2 night stay. We wanted to take advantage of the Hotel's facilities, so ate in the GB Roof Garden Restaurant with spectacular views of the Acropolis and surrounds on the first night. Wonderful staff, service, food and beverages (with a very good cocktail list - try the lychee martini). Breakfasts in the same place which have everything you could possibly want, including cafe frappe (you can ask for it if you like it - it was a favourite since our first trip to Athens 25 years ago). The Atrium of Alexander's Bar and Lounge has a Secret Garden on Level 1, which is nice to sit in and have a drink. And the Winter Garden City Lounge (indoors) has a wonderful afternoon tea, plus lunch the next day. Our only issue was that we had no hot water on the second morning, but the Hotel waived our afternoon tea cost as they did not want us to have that as our final impression of the Hotel. We give this a 5 out of 5 and would definitely go back if we are ever in Athens again.…
