The rooftop views were amazing but that's about it. Very basic hotel and room. Took the steps a lot because the one elevator was always occupied or took forever to come(only 2 ppl can fit in there). We didn't get a chance to have breakfast because we had to catch an early morning flight to Santorini. Staff was very helpful... More

20 of us visited Athens in advance of a cruise. We stayed at the Plaka hotel. The location was fabulous, about a good 15 minute walk to the Acropolis. We were treated so well by the staff. The rooms were small but clean and our view was over the Acropolis itself. One of the lovely attractions of this hotel is... More

The Plaka Hotel is in a fantastic location for first-time visitors to Athens like us. We caught the train from the airport - a direct trip - to Monastiraki Station, then walked a quick 2 blocks through the markets to the hotel. I can't recommend the location enough. We had a superior room, which was on the larger side and... More

Plaka Hotel was our home for 14 days. It's location is central to all the archaeological sites. We stayed in the family room- 2 adjoining rooms, each with a separate bathroom/shower. One bedroom has 2 twin beds and the other had a full bed. Housekeeping did a good job of keeping the room clean and well stocked. We also availed... More

This is a nice hotel in the Plaka area wth a reasonable and varied breakfast included. The bed was comfortable and the room clean and quiet. We had a small balcony overlooking the street. There is a lift. Staff were all very pleasant and helpful Nd there was no problem in leaving our bags in storage both when we arrived... More

Nice hotel in a great location. It's close to everything. It's few minutes walk to Monastiraki and Plaka. Street right over is Ernie shopping area. Down the block are lots of choices to eat. Staff friendly, breakfast has a decent variety. Rooftop had excellent views of Acropolis. Bedroom is spacious and comfortable. Bathroom is large too. Only downside is elevator... More

Standard room for European accommodation. The bathrooms have an odd layout as the shower door can be awkward to get around when getting into the shower. Also, as the shower has not been recessed into the ground, the bathroom starts to flood. I recommend requesting extra towels. Breakfast had a good variety. I found reception staff very friendly and helpful.

This hotel is conveniently located in the popular Plaka area of Athens. The hotel is surrounded by shops, the most popular attractions such as the Ancient Agora and the Acropolis all within walking distance and fine restaurants to suit all budgets such as value for money kebabs to fine dining. Despite its central location there was absolutely no rowdy nights... More

Staying in Plaka

Neighborhood Profile
Plaka
Due to its proximity to the Acropolis, Plaka remains the area where the majority of foreign visitors stay and play. Its attractive features include small squares, some notable museums and the beautiful Mitropolis cathedral, as well as a host of places to stay, eat and drink. Its pedestrian zones make it a pleasant place to escape from the city’s notorious traffic. Adrianou and Kidathineon Streets contain a number of souvenir shops, offering classier items than you will find in the Flea Market. The most rewarding section to explore is the upper reaches towards the Acropolis itself, where many old stone houses with tiled roofs have survived. Up here you can find leafier corners and the odd quaint taverna with unobstructed views of the ancient rock.
