A quaint hotel ideally located.Stepping out onto the room balcony great view of the Acropolis. The breakfast was basic but with a good selection of pastries. The only negative was a very cold outdoor pool. The receptionist was very helpful.Would definatly stay here again.

Modern, clean hotel. Very reasonable charge for the hotel to do your clothes in the laundry. Nice small pool that the kids love. Good breakfast Buffett included. You can see the balcony view in the photo. The location is right across the street from one of the central hills/parks in Ancient Athens and is also very close to the Acropolis... More

I stayed here with my girlfriend and found it to be very comfortable and with in walking distance of everything you want to see. Be sure to ask for a double bed or you will end up with two single beds pushed together. Breakfast was great with good coffee and bacon. Not much going on at hotel itself and pool... More

We stayed three nights and the room was very comfortable, clean and quiet. It was a 10 minute walk to the new Acropolis museum and the Acropolis. The restaurants and shops were a nice walk from the hotel. Very safe with tons of tourists walking at all hours.

Booked through our travel agent, but this certainly came as a very pleasant surprise. Only a few steps away from the world famous Acropolis Hill but actually situated at the base of Filopappou Hill of Hill of the Muses, this hotel is definitely worthwhile recommending. Quiet hotel, excellent breakfast (buffet), swimming pool for those who are not into cultural visits,... More

Very nice hotel in a great area - close to the Plaka. Rooms are clean and have a nice bathroom. It's great to have a pool since it is so hot there in the summer, even though it was a bit small with limited seating. Good breakfast included. Friendly staff.

The Acropolis Hill Hotel was our chosen lodging in Athens when we traveled with National Geographic Expeditions. The Acropolis Hill Hotel didn't present many surprises (it is an average, 3-star hotel in a convenient location) but we paid a premium to travel with Nat Geo and didn't expect to be staying in average (and in two other cases, MUCH worse... We stayed here for one night and were very pleased with everything; - Room - Nice, clean and seemed like newly renovated, with small balcony - Staff - Very good and friendly service. We got access to the room even if it was hours before check-in time. - Common areas - Nice and clean. Would absolutely recommend it!

This hotel was well run and well kept. There is a spacious rooftop with tables and chairs and a great view of the Acropolis and out over the city. Almost no one used it! We brought in dinner and a bottle of wine and had a wonderful romantic dinner by ourselves. You can pay a lot of money at a... More

Staying in Thissio / Makriyanni

Neighborhood Profile
Thissio / Makriyanni
Named after the well-preserved Thission (ancient temple of Hephaestus), Thissio is blessed with a small wooded park and some less frenetic streets that offer numerous quieter places to stay and eat. Largely pedestrianized Apostolou Pavlou Street runs between the Acropolis and forested Filopappou Hill, well worth climbing for more great panoramas, until it merges with Dionysiou Areopagitou Street. This leads to the up-and-coming area of Makriyanni, whose centerpiece is the magnificent new Acropolis Museum. Opposite the museum is the entrance to the southern slopes of the Acropolis, while the eponymous metro station nearby is at the top of Makriyanni Street, another strip of touristic cafés and restaurants.
