Monsieur Didot welcomes his friends to an astounding Athenian neoclassical house, built in the early 20th century and sitting in the beating heart of Athens, the Kolonaki quarter. A home away from home is what Monsieur Didot wishes his friends to feel upon the very first moment of their arrival! His guests enjoy a truly homely atmosphere, with modern facilities and amenities they can enjoy in their own homes! Just five minutes from the ‘Panepistimio’ metro station, the home is surrounded by theatres, museums, publishing houses and historic bookstores, as well as countless cafés, bars, restaurants and boutiques belonging to some of Europe’s largest fashion houses, Monsieur Didot’s house is the perfect setting from which to experience this extraordinary ancient city in all of its historic, cultural and creative glory. Monsieur Didot invites us to love Athens as much as he did!

I’ve stayed in many hotels around the world over the last 10 years, however this one has a really special touch to it. Firstly, the room. In a word, stunning. Really beautiful, yet also incredibly comfortable, a combination you don’t always see. Also great to see their efforts to be environmentally friendly. The bed was the comfiest hotel bed I’ve slept in for years, and the Netflix/Amazon on the TV was an added bonus. The breakfast options were plentiful and delicious, especially given it was such a small hotel, more of a guest house in fact. The really star of the hotel is Yiannis, one of their few staff members. He was there to help us check in and sat with us for 40 minutes showing us the best things to do and best food to eat in Athens, something I’ve never really had and shouldn’t be taken for granted, it really made our experience perfect. Each day he’d assist with making reservations and guiding us, and he even sent me emails after leaving with recommendations for our future travel plans, an absolutely amazing person. I should point out all of the staff were great, we just didn’t have too much interaction with them. We want to go back to Athens ASAP, and we will only stay in Monsieur Didot!

My fiancé and I stayed chez M. Didot in August 2022. It’s probably one of the best hotels we have ever stayed at. Nothing was too much trouble for Natalia and her team. We felt so welcomed. The room itself (number 5) had a wonderful balcony which meant we enjoyed a peaceful breakfast each morning listening to Athens waking up. The breakfast was fabulous. The room itself was so beautiful, and the bed was just so comfy. We also found the “where to eat/drink in the local area” guide super helpful and tried a number of recommendations, all of which were fantastic. Thank you to Natalia for the breakfast box for our ferry trip to Santorini. They were delicious. This hotel is such an unusual, and fabulous oasis of calm in the complete chaotic crazy wonderful mess of Athens. Thank you and see you again. Hannah and Oliver

Yannis, the manager at Monsieur Didot, was such an incredible host! He wrote out a 10 hour itinerary with food, site seeing, drinks and best terraces for the sunset. I followed it exactly and had the most amazing day in Athens - I will definitely be coming back to get recommendations from Yannis. The hotel itself is stunning, the rooms are large, beds are some of the most comfortable I have ever slept on, and the small details (like fresh lavender at bed side) made it my favorite hotel ever. Yannis also left us personal breakfast boxes in our mini fridge so we had something to eat at 5 AM when we left for our next stop.

Beautiful apartment in a really great neighborhood. So close to the metro and you could easily walk to many different restaurants and attractions. Yiannis was so helpful and gives a great overview of the city and can make reservations for you. We really appreciated his excellent service. Included breakfast delivered to your room was a treat. Disliked · While it didn't bother us, people with mobility problems may have difficulty walking up the hill to get to the hotel, especially in the summer heat.

This last minute booking turned out to be a truly exceptional experience. Staff went out of their way to provide any requests we had. Room was gorgeous and spacious, very comfortable bed and linens. Lovely breakfast on a private marble balcony. Highest recommendation all around!

This hotel is a must-stay. One of the most beautiful rooms we have ever stayed in, and the service was impeccable. The only issue is that we were only staying for one night, and wished we could have stayed for a week! We had everything we needed and more, and the breakfast that they served us on the balcony was incredible. Thank you so much Monsieur Didot!

Easy walking to the city center but far enough away that you do not deal with the noise of the big tourist crowds. We stayed in The Tale suite and appreciated having the separate private entrance since it was our honeymoon. Breakfast was prompt in the morning and offers a wide selection. The staff there are fantastic! Would especially like to mention Yan as he was excited to share his wide variety knowledge of Athens and the surrounding area with recommendations of where to go to eat, see things etc. He was especially helpful making it a personal experience. Would definitely stay here again for our next trip to Athens.

Athens will only associate with Monsieur Didot for us from now on! I truly believe that if we would stay anywhere else during our visit it would not be the same! This boutique hotel with its beautiful decor and the most amazing, welcome stuff made us feel at home. We stayed in all the rooms there but 1. Each room was perfectly designed, exceptionally clean and beautifully decorated. Complimentary breakfast in the mornings was such a nice touch, again made me feel like I was at home eating homemade breakfast. My daughter was turning 3 when we arrived, I asked the stuff to please decorate our suite for us and order a chocolate cake…and when we walked into the room we all were so happy 😃 Our suite was decorated beautifully, with the most delicious cake. My daughter was happy:) Yanis one of the front desk managers made us feel so at home. He is truly the heart of this amazing place! We were able to get the best restaurant recommendations, taxi arrangements, laundry help, tour guide arrangements. Keep in mind it was 6 of us and everyone was so happy! When we visit Athens, we will only stay in Monsieur Didot! Oh and location is great! Beautiful, safe and clean. Minutes away from all the central attractions and restaurants. Thank you!

This is a wonderful place to stay. My adult son and I were here for a week, staying in both of the suites, Tale and Novel, during our stay. Both were handsome and plenty of room for too, even if one has to do some remote work from the room. The location was, for us, wonderful. We had most of our dinners in Exarchia, the neighborhood adjoining Kolonaki. Some great place to eat and drink coffee or wine there. The breakfasts were among the best I've ever had in a hotel. Note that this is not like a conventional hotel, more of a residence-hotel. No lounge or bar for instance. The staff is helpful, professional and cheerful--really friendly. You feel right at home at M. Didot.

Here is our review and scoring of Monsieur Didot, a small boutique hotel in Athens, Greece based on our stay in a top floor room (Room 6. The ode to the light) in August 2021. We really enjoyed Monsieur Didot’s location as it was very convenient but also very quiet and peaceful. The hotel is located a short walk to the Syntagma Square metro station as well as the neighbourhoods you want to visit in Athens. Our room had a queen bed and we found the bed to be very comfortable. The room had good soundproofing and minimal windows in the bedroom made it very dark when it came time to get some sleep. The entrance through the bathroom was a bit unusual (although this was definitely a limitation of incorporating hotel rooms into an older existing building) and we struggled a little with the air-conditioning to find the right temperature. We absolutely loved all the books in our room!!! Such a nice touch. The room has a spacious private patio but it does lack privacy and some of the chairs were not the most comfortable for sitting. A nice welcome snack was provided (2 desserts), drinking water, coffee/Nespresso and tea, and the room had many books. The room also had a mini fridge with mini bar items that were affordably priced. Breakfast was also available; some options were complimentary and others at a cost. The bathroom is perhaps the most interesting part of the room, but might have also been its biggest drawback. While it was bright, clean, and extremely unique it was a little awkward. The main part of the bathroom doubled as a entranceway/hallway/exit to patio with the toilet in a separate room that was a little small and awkward. The shower was great and had good water pressure but water pooled in the track of the sliding door. The towels were good quality as were the toiletries provided. Overall, we found the service and staff very good for such a small boutique hotel. The housekeeping was impeccable and our interactions with the front desk were very pleasant and positive.
