Clean and comfortable hotel. Staff not super friendly and didn’t get a smile. Breakfast was basic Brazilian style food but ok. We used valet parking and got told the next day there was a large scratch on the car but as they hadn’t been able to do a check with us at check in they wouldn’t say it had happened while in their care or not. Turned out it was actually a previous mark on the car but their attitude wasn’t great. Cheap enough for a decent room.
Great personal service from staff and management. Daniel at the restaurant runs a great breakfast room with a diversity of dishes to choose from. The rooms are somewhat dated, but they are well maintained and the room cleaning is excellent. The main issue to be reckoned with is the lack of cable television which is very serious as only national TV stations with poor reception is available. The internet is quite unstable and not reliable. The location is excellent even though walking around the area at night is not recommended. There is a lot of echo in the corridors which is very annoying and I would recommend staying on a high floor as there is a night club of sorts in the vicinity and noises can be heard during all hours of the night.
This 3 star no frills hotel is centrally located in the center of town although it is not safe to walk the area after dark as there have been many robberies in this location. The hotel is clean, excellent room cleaning, the staff is very friendly and helpful, however the internet is extremely unreliable as evidenced by a 30 day stay I made in this hotel in March of 2015. The breakfast buffet is more than adequate and plenty to choose from, however I would not say that the food was delicious. The breakfast room staff was super friendly.and attentive I occupied the penthouse suite with a large terrace and all they brough me to sit on was a dining room chair..The swimming pool no largen that a bathtub was unheated and impossible to use as the water was cold. I recommend this hotel because there is nothing better to choose from in this city.…
I stayed two weeks in the LPH and was thoroughly underwhelmed by the supposedly best hotel in the city. It may have been the best when it was constructed in the 60s, but now it is a very dated and uncomfortable business hotel. I knew it was going to be one of those stays when I needed to ask how to turn on the electricity to the room and was advised that the small brick attached to the key goes into a hole in the wall! I had never seen anything quite so dated. In the evening this gave the issue of having to put the brick into the wall to get some light only to remove it again so as to be able to lock the door. The room itself was simple and functional. The main issue is you can hear EVERYTHING that goes on in the adjacent rooms in the corridor and the corridors above and below. So basically you are woken all hours by other guest going about there business. So the one basic thing a hotel should be, a place to rest, this is not. The bathroom is small and simple and you can happily chat to your neighbour while in the shower. The shower itself is a plus point and the reason the hotel gets an extra star. The hot water is immediate and the shower very powerful. So after you've had a terrible nights rest, it helps you to get you going again. But, you will need to go and ask for soap as the maids never leave any. Breakfast was a medium - small buffet, which was very uninspiring and the staff only seemed interesting in watching the tv. The breakfast is served at the top of the hotel and there is a nice view available of the city (this is the only other plus point of the hotel). Below and part of the hotel is a restaurant, which is very popular with the locals, but is very expensive when compared to other restaurants in the city. That said it is a shame the high class image of the restaurant is not mirrored in the hotel. And then there is the internet. It was up and down all throughout my stay and could not be relied upon. In the end this was the final straw and reason why I changed to another hotel in the city, which is certainly a better experience. With the Ibis opening in the city soon the LPH needs a re-think.…
