Stayed here two nights as part of the Savannahlander "experience" and while I would say the room was poorly appointed; dull lighting, no space for luggage, and a window rattler air conditioner, the food served for dinner was deliciously fresh with generous serving sizes. Meal prices are reasonable although our dinner was part of the package.

The continental breakfast was meagre; cereal and/or toast. While breakfast was included in our package, we did expect a more substantial cooked breakfast or at least the provision of fresh fruit. That matter will be addressed with The Savannahlander.

Having now made a couple of trips to outback/remote parts of Queensland, I'm just a bit over people excusing poor customer service and dilapidated, basic amenities as, "it's the country, what do you expect?". Well, I have to say that if I'm paying prices comparable to those in larger regional towns and cities, I expect better. And, I would add, I expect my room to be serviced daily, but that wasn't the case. So while these areas want people to come and spend money, they really don't give much in return; ask for anything out of the ordinary and it's met with a curt response.

The Gulfland Motel is two stars at best, based on the room we were provided. Staff were not particularly friendly or engaging. Room decor needs to be updated. Location is a bit of a distance/walk from the centre of town.

I've rated this property as "average" as I feel the dinner meals make it better than a "poor" rating, which is what I would have given the Motel alone.

Enjoyed our stay here and especially the pool which was cold and clean. The amenities block had spotlights shining directly onto our caravan, which was a nuisance and the washing machines could do with a good clean. Walking distance to the town. Paid $28.00 a night for powered site, which is reasonable.

This was our first accommodation for the Gulflander/Savannahlander train tour. From the moment we walked in, we were a little worried. Firstly, the site looked a mess, secondly they didn’t have our booking. There were three of us in this situation. We’re still not sure sure why this happened. Anyway, rooms were sorted out. There was an apology that they had been shut for two years due to Covid (this was an cordoned off town), but there were still works being undertaken. Some rooms had two a/c, but the remote control worked on neither. Some had holes where the old ones had been taken out. We were in 39 degrees and needed the a/c. The rooms were of the older style type of hotel and looked like they had been redecorated recently, however the paint job was all black, including the ceiling, which made it very oppressive and dark. In our room the light shade had been taken off to allow more light and there were still broken pieces of lamp left in our cupboards. We were missing the shower mat too, which made getting out of the shower slippery. The pool was nice, but could have been a little cleaner.
The restaurant was fine and the food was good buffet type food, however, having left over junk where you walked in to get the food was a little disconcerting.
This could be so much better than what it was. I hope things have now got back into the swing of things and all the renovations and ground tidying has been done.

We stayed here for two nights and absolutely recommend it. Breakfast and dinner covered all the bases and included gluten free food. The room was cool and comfortable- while some used air conditioners, we didn't feel the need. People working at the Motel were so friendly and welcoming (the small dog living their is even more friendly and welcoming).

Amanda and her family were very welcoming and kind. The Motel was so well maintained and both of our rooms were spotless. The pool was amazingly cool and clean and definitely a bonus in the hot weather!!! Amanda goes out of her way to help guests in any way and we would certainly stay again and recommend to others. Normanton is obviously remote and what was available at the Gulfland is a credit to Amanda and her team.

We enjoyed staying there, the food was excellent, service was friendly. The room had everything you needed, there were table and chairs outside to enjoy a drink. The bed was comfortable and the pool was cold. They had a pet wallaby locked in the pool area at night and he was very cute.
It was centrally located.

We arrived late in the afternoon. The lad who registered us struggled to make the internet work so he wrote our details on a post it. We were directed to the entry where we waited for quite a while. We we then directed to a pleasant site. No grass but a good concrete pad and plenty of tree cover.

The price was very reasonable.

We were a last minute stay due to other accommodation in the town being unsuitable, Amanda was nothing but helpful and responsive. The room was clean and comfortable and the pool was a godsend during our stay. We were told by locals the meals there are amazing however the restaurant service had not recommenced from Xmas etc - next time hopefully.
I often travel to Normanton and this will now be the only place I will be booking.

Our room was dirty, had broken taps and fittings. The bed springs were broken and was horrific for sleeping. The service and food here was wanting. The pool was refreshing however was very dirty. Very disappointing stay indeed.
