Uncomfortable soft bed, really tight room, bare essentials but great location with close proximity to the public transportation are the key features of this hotel. The staff is super nice and helpful but the rooms need a bit of work. I would choose the hotel only for the location
Just 10’ away from the city Center . A decent hotel, clean not very spacious but one of the few in Europe where I had a balcony. Hence the 4 stars. Easy check in and check out. Breakfast wasn’t offered for the price I paid but in general it was a value for money stay
The walls in this hotel are paper thin. I can hear everything that’s going on in the other 2/3 rooms around mine. Even their conversations, and much much more. There is absolutely no privacy. And doesn’t help if other guests are up all night making a noise. There is no kettle or anything in the room, only a mini fridge with nothing inside. Downstairs there’s a vending machine that only takes coins. Honestly disappointing experience and you can honestly go for something a tiny bit higher priced in Brussels to get a real hotel experience. This is a hostel. It might as well be a dorm if you can hear others’ conversations and the intimate details of their night. Not at all a savory experience.
Such a shame this hotel has had such bad reviews in the past. It is now being updated and although the room I had was small ( single) it is brand spanking new and very nice. Be aware though that it is on a busy road but other than the ambulances which seems to be a route I didn’t get disturbed by traffic due to new double glazing. On the plus side the staff are really helpful and friendly, the breakfast is amazing and there is a tram stop right outside the front door. Towels could do with being bigger though but there is a lovely coffee/ tea box ( no biscuits!) and the contents of the mini fridge are same as their bar prices. There is a little shop down the street though if you want to save on wine and other drinks and snacks. Italian brassiere just across the street does reasonable meals all day but hotel room service not overpriced although didn’t try it. Walkable to BOZAR or two stop tram ride E2.50 each way. All in all I would recommend it for the good location and friendly staff.…
Brussels is a difficult place to find good hotels for a decent price. One of the examples is Villa Royale, which charged 500.- € for a night without breakfast in a run down, small, cold, dirty, ugly, unpleasant and loud room! Apart the name and the price, nothing related to royalty, try to avoid by any means!
Stayed here for one night when on business in Brussels. Check in was interesting with the receptionist attempting to write down the credit card number. On asking they had no irons. The room is quite dated with wooden furniture that doesn’t really match and has seen better days. The bathroom has a shower but nowhere to put it up to stand under. Plug was blocked / drained very slowly. No facilities in the room, no kettle, water or any cups. Bizarrely there are also no lights in the ceiling and the room is lit by 3 tiny 5w bulbs. It is close to the road so road noise is quite apparent and the widows aren’t well sound proofed. In the dark light it looks clean at least. Couldn’t give it 1 as it is not terrible, but really not great.
We have to stay here for three nights. We have a room that is not confortable because the heating Is not working; the water in the bathroom is cold. We can't have a shower. We have told this at the reception. But no reaction.
villa Royale really is a disgusting hotel, especially the bathroom. Not much Villa and certainly zero royal about this hotel! Fungi collection in the shower, dirty, old, unfriendly staff... Never again!
If I knew what I know now. I would not have booked this place. Staff was friendly and the hotel seemed nice from the lobby but rooms are not clean. This really urks me and gets under my skin (literally and figuratively). As soon as I can in the room, I can tell this was a used room and they didn’t care. (See photo below!) Guess they thought a guest wouldn’t know the different of brand new sheets versus a bed already been slept in by another guest. This is unsatisfactory and unsanitary!!!! This hotel should be inspected. Could imagine the uncleanliness of the food. Didn’t order breakfast.
I recently stayed here for 3 nights with my husband and our friends were in the room next door. The best thing about the hotel is the walls are thick, so we couldn't hear anything next door. There is no air-con in these rooms so it was extremely hot at night which meant we had to open the window, but then it was very noisy outside, so my advise would be to take earplugs! Opening the window didn't really let in much of a breeze, but it was better than nothing. Our safe was locked and we told reception who advised they would open it, but this didn't happen throughout our stay. The sink was not great because the water wouldn't drain. Breakfast is €8 if you book in advance and we were told it was sausage and egg. By sausage, they mean salami. The hot breakfast food consisted of eggs and chicken. Very strange! On the plus side, the hotel is in a great location if you don't mind a 15 min walk which we were happy with. Great beer, great chocolate, great frites ect! One of the highlights was a cocktail bar called Life is Beautiful! Great cocktails!!! A great place to eat is opposite Manneken Pis called Poechenellekelder. They serve the best lasagne I've ever eaten!!…
