Imagine a world made of chocolate, where kids and grown-ups explore the amazing universe of the "food of the Gods". A century old building, where chocolate was once produced and from where a sweet aroma used to emerge all over the city, is today a newly restored building that keeps its history and memories alive, but with a new purpose. Today, the production is of unique experiences totally dedicated to chocolate. In this small charming hotel where each room tells a unique story, you'll be able to sleep surrounded by your favourite chocolate brands, in the setting of a cacao tree forest, or in the magic scenario of children's classics such as "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" or "Hansel and Gretel". Each day of your stay will bring a totally unique experience. Indulge yourself with a rejuvenating chocotherapy treatment, enjoy the exclusivity of a private chocolate fountain for two, or taste different types of chocolate after an inspiring visit to the Museum.

We decided to stay in this hotel to please a child traveling with us, after seeing all the cute chocolate themed pictures on the web. We booked 2 rooms( white chocolate and arcadia) upon arrival we asked the front desk lady which room would be more suitable for the child. We

Dear tessakitty, Thank you for your review and feedback. We understand that not every guest likes our bedrooms the same way. Being a themed hotel with 18 completely diferente rooms, means that some rooms are definitely more popular among our guests than others. We are truly sorry that you found your stay with us disappointing and invite you to book with us again letting us know your room preference in advance so that we can meet your expectations. Look forward to welcoming you again soon in Fábrica do Chocolate. Best regards, MDinis Hotel Manager

This has never happened to me anywhere else in the world. I had a do not disturb sign on my door all day since check in. I returned after a long day out and staff were all over my room cleaning it and moving around my possessions. I am currently checking through my stuff and

Dear djnorious26, On behalf of the administration of Hotel Fábrica do Chocolate I would sincerely like to thank you for posting this review; contrarily of what you might think about the power of a public post like the above, in fact, it really allows us to present the sequence of events as they occurred, even if its readers will never have the chance to watch your unfortunate behaviour at the Reception on the footage captured by our CCTV system, which left us with no choice but to call upon the Police in order to restore public order that you so bluntly were disrupting. What caused your grievance? That, despite placing the “Do Not Disturb” sign on the room’s door since check-in, the Housekeeping staff entered your room to clean it while you were out. As any unexperienced traveler knows, in any multiple-night stay in a hotel (and you were booked to stay for three nights), at one point of the day housekeeping staff will enter the room to clean it, make the bed or change the bedsheets if necessary, clean the bathroom, and make sure that everything else is in order so that guests’ stay is a memorable one. “Do Not Disturb” signs generally mean that guests wish not to be disturbed while they are IN the room. Quite often, guests that use the “Do Not Disturb” sign forget to remove it when leaving the room and still find it very pleasing that their rooms are tidied up on arrival. If you felt, for any reason, that the safety of your personal belongings was in jeopardy you could have very well used the free digital safe in your room, that allows you to set your personal code to open it; and, if you wished that no member of staff entered your room during the entire period of your stay, you could have easily left that instruction at the Reception desk which we would have welcomed, without any questions asked. Despite what you state in your post, at no point your wishes were not met, if only they were correctly communicated to us. As any reader will find out by reading the several posts made by our guests before yours, your experience has no parallel with any of our guests’ stay at Hotel Fábrica do Chocolate, which might indicate that you could well be “driving on the wrong lane”. If you have any further questions or complaints please address them by email and we will make sure it gets our full attention and insight. Best regards, M. Dinis Hotel Manager
