This is a quaint family run establishment. The service and hospitality are wonderful. We stayed one night during our Camino. When we arrive our suitcases had been dropped off and already waiting for us in our room. We had a bottle of wine that needed chilling and our hostess took it and chilled it and brought it back for us... More

Stayed at this Pensao whilst cycling the Camino Portuguese. The family who own this place made us feel very at home. The rooms are comfortable and recently refurbished (at least ours was!) and had a terrace we could make use of. They offered a secure place for our bikes which was very important. We even had supper at their restaurant... More

The family is very friendly. We loved the atmosphere and the owner(s) really go the distance to make sure you have a nice stay. We were upgraded to a room with a terrace because we stayed more than one night. They even moved our luggage because we were going out for a daytrip. Since it is an old house, expect... More

We stayed here one night only as we were doing the Camino de Santiago but we would have loved to stay longer. Family run hotel and we couldn't have received a better welcome after a long day. Restaurant was closed this night but we were taken to a restaurant nearby which was wonderful. I highly recommend this hotel for hospitality... More

Fantastic little family run place. Right in the heart of the old town. Friendly and efficient staff. The rooms are small but comfortable. Good sized en suite. Great restaurant with fine selection of regional wines.

It's a family run business - lodging and restaurant. The family members are friendly and helpful. Though we are unable to converse in Portuguese but we managed to get our food and the food is fantastic! Rooms may be small but it's good enough for us. We have decided to extend another night here due to the warmth hospitality of... More

A good basic hotel with its main selling feature being the central location with most places within easy walking distance . Rooms adequate but very clean and the lady in charge has good English and is very welcoming.

This was in the city central, very good location. Room was a good size with a good balcony. Clean and well presented. The restaurant downstairs served the breakfast which was average to good.We had dinner there at night and it was also fairly good. Staff were very good and gave good assistance. Parking was at a paid parking garage nearby.... More

We stayed here last Saturday 12th July for one night. Location was good and room had been updated and we had one on the 3rd floor at the rear and a very small balcony. The shower was good, but no hair dryer. We have found at most places in Spain & Portugal that if there isn't a hair dryer in... More

Very small room with a window that opened to the hallway. It was very noisy and you could hear everyone going in or out. Very very small bed with a very hard matress. We woke up with back pain, knee and shoulder pain. The water from the shower spilled to the washroom floor. Breakfast was just coffee, bread, marmalade, 2... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
"O Laranjeira" Pensao Restaurante is uniquely situated in Viana do Castelo historical centre close by the emblematical Praca da Republica. This vintage building has a well-referenced traditional kitchen restaurant and 7 theme rooms. The 3rdLaranjeira generation decided to refresh the image of the Pensao - the oldest commercial building in Viana - by telling their family story, reminiscing Viana's traditions and folklore. We wanted our rooms to be an unforgettable experience to our guests and created a cosy environment and still maintaining its historical legacy. Each room has a different theme: "Traje a Vianesa", "Eiffel", "Filigrana", "Lethes", "Santa Luzia", "Tapetes" (flowers street decoration), "Traje a Vianesa" (traditional costume) e "Vinho Verde". ... more   less
