Enjoy your stay in Porto!
Super charming, nicely decorated, extremely well located. Very clean, good breakfast, very friendly staff. A five stars, totally recommendable. Made our stay in Porto especially nice. Ah, and they admit pets, which is also great.
It would be a lovely place if handled with more care for the guests. No heating!!! How is this possible? Room were just equiped with small carry-on electric heaters. This place should be closed in winter. We booked a superior room but it was impossible to use the veranda. Also not really nice that cooking odors enters in the room in the morning while you sleep... Staff is nice but we have been really disappointed.
We went for a long weekend break and had a room on the fourth floor with a room at the back so it was nice and quiet at night, (even with the windows open). The room was elegant and spacious as well as being nice and clean with a comfy bed and air conditioned. The guest house is beautifully restored throughout with traditional and tasteful decor. The staff were helpful and friendly. There is a small breakfast restaurant as well as tables in the adjacent garden area. Breakfast had a good selection of fresh fruit, fruit juices, cold meats, cheese, yoghurt, frittata and lovely bread. The breakfast room and garden area are open for guests to use all day with complimentary coffee, water, cake and biscuits made by a local patisserie. There’s also a small honesty bar. The location is great. Situated in the Art district within easy walking distance of great shops, bars, restaurants and the trams etc. Perfect .. …
We decided to stay at the Mercador Guest house again on our second visit to Porto as we enjoyed it so much the first time around and I'm so please we did. The location, accomodation, service was 110% perfect! The rooms are big, spacious and clean! The breakfast were perfect with delightful catering staff. Ideally located for shops, galleries, cafes, parks etc. I want to live here! Sofia and Brune are so lovely and helpful & really made us feel at home. We will certainly be going back. I SO recommend this Guest House.
We stayed for 3 nights and it was fine, but nothing stand out enough to recommend to others. The building is lovely with interesting decor and the courtyard/garden is pleasant. The check-in/welcome was a bit unfriendly and, whilst our bed was changed to double sheets rather than twin, we were made to feel bad for asking. The room itself was pretty dark and noisy - noise from the street outside and also from the guests walking around in the room above - meaning any chance of a restful morning lie in was scuppered. A rear facing room may be better. The bathroom was fine - a decent powerful shower, but fairly basic and there was no shampoo. A few basic touches were lacking - The room could have done with some facilities to make coffee for example. Breakfast was a little disappointing as well - more variety would have been good. Location is good, but on a fairly busy road and hence noisy. Overall, this is an ok place to stay but probably at half the price we paid (we paid about 140euros/night).…
