Charming public areas - lobby, dining room, lift etc - not sure how you'd renovate without ruining the ambiance. Quirky; fits with the vibe of Porto. Room decor reminded me of 2* Hostal/Pension of the 1990s - but clean and serviceable - no extras - all a bit gloomy and worn (but we didn't care). Wifi OK; Air Con was... More

This venerable hotel is right in the centre of things and the staff are exceptional - like the breakfast room and what's served there - but our room was a little bit battered in a few not very important ways

Pros: Great location, terrific breakfast, friendly staff, good wifi, and comfortable pillows of various densities. Hair dryer in the bathroom. Cons: Nasty bathroom (moldy shower, broken wall tiles, stinky toilet), ugly furnishings, confusing and cramped halls and staircases. This hotel is a weird hodge podge of turn of the century grandeur and 1970s schlock. It is in dire need of... More

This hotel is in a convenient location in the center of the historic district. It is within walking distance of rua Santa Catarina, Clérigos Church, Bento train station, and many bars and restaurants. The hotel is in an old building over a century old. Unfortunately, the building has not been renovated to modern standards. The check-in was quick. When we... More

The Grande Hotel de Paris has been around for some 150 years and the hotel itself is a little piece of O Porto history. However, do not expect any luxury or top-notch renovations. The rooms are really cozy and clean. The best bet is room 310, which has a great view to the downtown area and does not face the... More

Very disappointed ; the poorest hotel experienced in 10 weeks of travel. Long overdue for complete renovation; especially the bathroom. Our room was tiny; noisy ( very!! ) and absolutely no sound proofing; I heard the next-door guest change his mind three times. The staff were great; very helpful ( especially the concierge) and I felt sorry for them, as... More

The hotel is very well located, just aside the old downtown. You have to park in front of the hotel and the street is narrow so you have to park partially on the sidewalk to check in, get the luggages... Then they send you to a nearby private parking (extra cost). The hotel has some old time style and history... More

We stayed here for a few nights recently and loved it. It is 'of it's time' but nevertheless charming all round. Very central location and about a 15 minute walk to heart of Ribeira with all the riverside bars and restaurants. The hotel has roms that do not face on to Rua Fabrica if you want a quieter night sleep... More

I stayed at the Grande Hotel de Paris for several nights in April, 2016. It was my first time in Porto so you can imagine how excited I was upon my arrival after a very long flight. I arrived at the hotel at about 2:30 pm. and thus began my bad experience. At check in I was abruptly told that... More

I stayed at this hotel about 2 weeks ago for 4 nights and was very disappointed. When I first got there they put me in Room 4. I did not even unpack and told them to move me. That room had a horrible odor and the shower is the size of a very small closet. They moved me to Room... More
