It really was a castle, or at least the mansion of a noble family. Filled with antiques and wonderful appointments, it surpassed all our expectations. (Of course we stayed in the castle and not in the new section.) The location is great and enabled us to walk to all the major sites. The staff was extremely helpful and knowledgeable. The...

Great experience not far from downtown Oporto. My friend and I stayed at the Castle. We had a lovely room ground level, old style furniture and a very modern bathroom and the best quality linen ever. The gardens are amazing as well as all the living rooms in the Castle where a great breakfast is served.

Ok, how do you balance a very good breakfast with a mediocre room? I guess three stars should balance and sum up the experience. The room was shabby, no better way putting this. This is an old place and it shows, furniture that saw better days when my grandma was born, the beds were not comfortable and the experience was...

Attentive hosts in this fascinating and beautiful building, so charmingly furnished. Our room, in the upper floor of the tower was small, but had a great ambiance, and a splendid chandelier ! There is no lift, but, if you do not mind the considerable climb, will enjoy the views. The breakfast and drawing rooms well demonstrate the opulence of the...

In a dense commercial street there's a hidden jewel, a superb modern Hotel built into an old palace. with vast nice garden, great comfortable rooms and great breakfast. It would compete easily with any 4 or 5 stars Hotel you've been to (I'd say that if they'd add a pool they could easily get this rating) Location is good too,...

This was such a romantic place to stay...the gardens and buildings all tiled, so beautiful... we would sit out in the garden after returning from dinner in Porto and have a scotch before turning in. So quiet yet, the noisy town was just a 15 minute walk away. We stayed in a tower room that had authentic antique furnishings... it...

Castelo Santa Catarina is a good choice for a visit to Porto. Its baroque opulence provides a welcome change from cookie-cutter hotels. Location is reasonable, only several blocks from where the street turns into a pedestrian mall. The room was clean and the modern bathroom contrasted with the glitzy chandelier in the sleeping room. It is off the street, so is...

great Experience!! not another typical hotel, This hotel is part of history- Located in Santa catrina castel. the hotel have two sides: the old one and the new. i recommend to stay at the old part, the rooms are designed like a 200-400 years old rooms - it's very cool! The rooms are clean, the breakfast is tasty and various.
