Good location, great attention, big room and bath. Old fashioned hotel, but still great. Very good and complete breakfast and great staff. I will probably come back if I ever return to Porto. I had a problem and the clerk solved it very fast.

pros: -location, close to everything -soft linens -good front desk service cons: -rooms well maintained but musty smelling and showing its age -servers stood around during breakfast but never ask you if you wanted coffee or tea (but maybe this is the portuguese way? noticed this at other places too) -bit dark

My husband and I stayed at this hotel for a week during last January. The staff was courteous and helpful, the room was neat and spacious and the breakfast was excellent. The hotel is perfect for walking tours around Porto, since it is close to the Ribeira (the river front), the main historical sites and the Sao Bento train station.

Great location close to metro station, bars, restaurants and tourist attractions. An older, 'character' property so don't expect amenities like ice machines on every floor :) or multiple elevators. We booked via a third party consolidator so had a 'classic' room, there was no option to upgrade. This was fine although far too hot but I resolved this problem by...

We were greeted warmly on arrival and offered glasses of port (of course) Room central heating was too hot and we were obliged to run the air conditioning to moderate the heat. Hotel has what is probably its original elevator with non-auto doors and a staff member to assist those not familiar with its operation. Very close to hop on...

Perfectly situated to explore the old and new parts of Porto by foot or local transport. Historic building with small, cramped but clean rooms and comfortable lobby and courtyard which has seen better days. Staff, especially those at the front desk, were very attentive and daily breakfast was good.

The location is perfect, in the old town, by the bus stops, near restaurants. They arranged for airport transportation, gave us a great welcome with perfect English and a glass of porto. Their recommendations for visiting the city were incredibly helpful. Room was excellent, clean. They gave us a bottle of champagne to celebrate our anniversary, daily chocolates and fruit....

Definitely pluses and minuses with this hotel. We drove in and had a tough time finding the property. Miguel was great helping us with the car and we enjoyed a welcome drink while we checked in. The lobby is very old World and nice to sit in and relax. The breakfast was great with many choices in a lovely dining...

I had expected there would be adequate internet access in a 5 star hotel. Internet access was intermittent at best. The bathroom was extremely cramped and the shower system was almost impossible to operate. The provided towelling gowns were not replaced despite being wet and left out for replacement. The front desk were less than helpful.

Ok this isn't a five star hotel. It's old and many elements of the hotel need renovating. But the staff are very friendly. Offered a class of port on arrival which was great. The hotel manager we met was also friendly, kind and professional. We made a complaint about some noise and they were very apologetic and did everything to...
