We stayed here as part of a Secret Escapes package and found the hotel clinically clean, efficient and businesslike. The spacious room and bathroom was equipped and comfortable. They really excelled them selves with a fantastic breakfast buffet which provided a quality meal to begin they day with, fruit, hot food selection, pastries, fish, yoghurts, bread selection, cheese, ham - nothing missing. The evening meals in the rooftop restaurant was OK although pricey and rather formal, the sort of place you'd take a business client. The location was away from the city centre but quite accessible by bus and as others note there is a very useful supermarket next door - it suited us to enjoy a meal in the city during the day and get a supper from next door in the evening.

Had a solo 2 night stay here. I think 5 star is a bit generous. Reception staff were pleasant enough. Spacious room (on 7th floor). Comfortable beds (twin room), bathroom clean, separate toilet. Well stocked mini bar (which i didnt touch). Unfortunately carpets were very soiled and stained. Not much of a view from room. Wasnt there long enough to use spa area or restaurant. Unfortunately, i didnt go up to the rooftop bar on 1st evening when weather was good. Went up next morning but weather was bad but fantastic views from outside seating area and panoramic views from glass windowed bar. Apparently, i missed a fantastic sunset the night before! Lady in bar was lovely. This is probably the highlight of the hotel, otherwise an average stay. There is a small supermarket next door to hotel stocking many essentials, food and a counter selling hot and cold food. The hotel has parking. Had to take Ubers mostly as hotel is apparently 45 min walk to main Porto area/Ribera. Its a shame as had planned to walk if it was closer. The location lets it down plus there is lots of roadworks going on down what is a very busy street.

This is a good urban hotel, with a proper location, in a centric but modern district, I´d say something along the lines of a business hotel, but the clientele was really varied, most of them foreigners. I´d already been staying in Porto Palácio, but it was many years ago, so the hotel must have been revamped as I found some changes. There´s a restaurant and cafeteria on the 20th floor and the views are fantastic, you can even see the Douro estuary and, looking from the other extreme of the large room, the Clérigos Tower. Rooms are functional and elegant. Excelent beds. Everything is sleek and modern. There´s also a health centre, if I´m not mistaken you can access to some parts of it but, for other services you have to pay extra. Outstanding staff: professional, friendly, always on the ball. Unlike other opinions, I didn´t see any special difficulty in the access if you come driving: there´s a major work outside due to an underground extension I think, but that´s external to the hotel and you only have to follow the signs, nothing particularly complicated. Besides, I got an incredible rate, so the price-quality ratio was really excellent.

Lovely hotel, clean, luxury, friendly. Room large with separate bathroom and toilet. Daily room service and bed turn down plus chocolates. All staff really helpful. Just a shame where it is and ongoing roadworks outside. Whilst taxis reasonable it is obviously more geared to a business hotel not tourists.

We just come home today and I to a review of this hotel.! All the staff we encountered were great they were all polite a efficient and simply wanted us to have a great time in Porto giving us the best holiday. Ask front desk for restaurant recommendations they are very knowledgable Have dinner on the 19th floor restaurant it’s a great experience for foodies like us Yes it’s away from main tourist area but for 10 Euros a taxi will take u just ask desk to call you one Room was comfortable and big and has all that you need tea/coffee , kettle and toiletries too we will definitely be going back

This hotel was excellent! We arrived around 10:30pm and the staff gave us a friendly greeting and a voucher for a free port and tonic to drink at the rooftop bar! The views from the bar are beautiful, day or night time. The room was clean, spacious and had all we need and a bottle of water daily. The only problem we had was the safe wasn’t working when we got there but the staff fixed it very quickly. We didn’t pay for breakfast so I can’t comment, the pool and jacuzzi were nice. If you want to be right in the centre of Porto this may not be for you. We don’t mind walking and it took about 30 mins but taxis were around 5 euros. Would definitely stay again!

Large hotel in what amounted to the suburbs, it being a couple of kilometres to the harbour area and city centre. However, it was on much flatter terrain, less of a strain getting about on foot. The centre could be accessed by bus or taxi at modest cost. 18 floors from memory, and a decent view from our window to the sea even from the 11th. Large room, with all facilities, a speedy maid service avery day. Excellent WiFi too. Nice bar on the ground floor, though far from the cheapest. Nice large breakfast area, and good fare, though the sausages were disappointingly bland. Made up for by fresh orange juice, and waiter served tea and coffee, rather than self-service. Thoroughly recommended.

We have just returned from a super 7 day family holiday here. The staff were always helpful and professional and a special mention to the lovely Rose Maria who made us feel so welcome every day at breakfast (which by the way is excellent). The hotel is a little way off from the centre of Porto, but Ubers are easy and fast to acquire and cheap. We rather enjoyed the peace of the hotel. Lovely rooftop bar with panoramic view. Nice swimming pool and good facilities.

Nice room size. Enormous bed (even Americans will be happy with the size of the bed) and very good bathroom. Excellent toiletries: Castelbel. Excellent views from room and the roof terrace. An update to the rooms is certainly required - the wallpaper was very dated, the furniture looks like it is at least 10 years old. It is a room of it's time. Luxurious them, dated now. The same is true of the health club/spa area too. Tiling needing redoing in some areas. Staff generally efficient, but not always - service was incredibly slow at the rooftop bar. Some reception staff came across as snobbish. Breakfast staff generally efficient. Having previously stayed in a hotel where the staff was excellent, it was clear that the level of training and service in this hotel was lacking. Breakfast was fine but not excellent. There is major outside work the hotel for a bus line. It won't affect you inside the hotel, as the hotel seems to be very well insulated. This is not a hotel located in the city centre but you can easily get access to the city centre via bus. The nearest metro stops are about 10-15 mins away. And you can get very cheap Ubers into the city centre. Alas the experience was not as good as it could have been. The hotel makes a huge effort at welcoming you online and sending you informative messages et al via WhatsApp but the face to face experience lacks consistency. It may well have the facilities for a 5 star hotel, but it felt that it was a 5 star hotel ten years ago, not currently.

On checking in to our room found make still making the bed and then discovered toilet seat was hanging off, unuseable. Had to be relocated to another room. The housekeeping staff were not very helplful, if you want English tea or milk, take your own as none in room and you will be lucky to get at breakfast, rationed to one T bag to a pot of hot water! The indoor pool is average but all round the floor tiles need a deep clean, not 5 star! Breakfast is varied, plenty of fruit, cheeses, local savouries etc, however hot food is kept in large cloches , so beans, scrambled & fried eggs, mushrooms, tomatoes etc, are lukewarm at best, mainly cold as only one small light under each cloche! Very disappointing breakfast, if you want anything hot, order an omelette!! Reception staff were on the whole helpful, particularly Susana in organising a trip on the river. The hotel is not well located for transport access, in fact due to ongoing major roadworks outside the hotel you have to walk a considerable way down the road on gravel and sand as there is no pavement. To cap it all my wife was stuck in the toilet on the last morning as we were due to get into our taxi to the airport, she pulled the emergency cord and banged on door but no one came, until I went to check after a while and got her out!! Taxi was not a metered one booked by reception and was more than twice the cost!, So not a great departure.
