We had heard a lot of good reviews of this hotel but our experience was even better! The location of the hotel is perfect, the lobby area as well as the rooms are really beautiful but what really makes this a special place to stay is the wonderful service you get there! Every member of the staff are extremely polite and take care of all the details in a professional way. We are especially happy to notice that the members of the staff immediately learned our names and since our stay happened to be during the Euro Football tournament final, they arranged us the possibility to enjoy both the dinner and the game at the same time in the bar, even when the dinner was normally served at the restaurant. Will definitely come back to this wonderful hotel soon!

We had a lovely time at this hotel , very central location . Lovely rooms and lobby area. The staff were excellent and couldn’t do enough to help . Would definitely recommend this without hesitation. Car parking adjacent to hotel and within walking distance to the good bars , restaurants and waterfront . Rooms not noisy, even though they overlook the Square

I had the pleasure of a recent stay here with my daughter. It’s a lovely hotel with excellent service. Our room was spacious, with a sitting area - comfy couch!- and our bathroom had a large tub. The in room coffee and tea set up was great. I also appreciate a mini bar with real wine glasses. It’s hard to enjoy a glass of wine in plastic cups. We dined in the breakfast room ( generous and refined breakfast) and in the bar. I thoroughly enjoyed the Executive menu for lunch- an excellent value and quite delicious! The house red wine was a full bodied wine from the Douro valley. The French fries were divine! The service was attentive but restrained. I missed an outside patio or cafe here but, I understand the hotel is opening one soon. I think that will be a great addition ! The position of the hotel- right on the main square with the castle just out back is perfect. You will be well located. During this time of transition, the hotel is arranging Covid testing for guests making it very convenient if you need a test before flying onward. I plan to visit again for sure. The service we Recieved was very kind and most generous.

The Intercontinental is a centrally located hotel that will provide exactly what you need and want but not spectacularly more. While not on the water in Porto, the location is rather ideal just minutes away by foot from just about everything. My “junior suite” was not a suite at all, apparently differentiated from normal rooms by a slight bump in square meters and a sofa at the foot of the bed. The single-sink bathroom worked well enough, though the door to the WC didn’t really close eliminating the value of a separate WC. Similarly, the flushing mechanism got stuck on literally every flush keeping the water running until rectified. A big deal? Nope. Very mildly annoying? The staff was accommodating across the board. The concierge booked us into a fine-but-not-great restaurant after our first choice was unavailable. They were also quick to provide new umbrellas when an expected rain started. The housekeeping was great, particularly considering the frequency with which hotels are weaseling out of basic service in the name of COVID. Would I come back if I returned to Porto? Probably but wouldn’t dismiss a suggestion to stay elsewhere. That said, this was perfectly modern and somewhat charming hotel.

This is a very nice hotel. The location is absolutely perfect: right in the middle of the city within walking distance of sights, shops, restaurants etc. The rooms we had were large and classical in a beautiful way. The beds were the best we had had in many years. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Especially the concierge was of great assistance with bookings, the rental car etc. Due to covid, the hotel was rather quiet. Especially in the restaurant and in the bar, that was only partially open. The dinner we had in the restaurant was nice, though rather on the expensive side.
