We stayed at this 4* hotel for 3 nights in late-January. The location is excellent- a very short downhill walk to the Praca da Ribeira overlooking the Old Town riverfront adjacent to the famous Dom Luis bridge. All of the main historic sights of the city are within easy walking

The location is great. It’s close to the river and all the good restaurants and shops. Very clean hotel. Front desk staff are eager to please and very friendly. Some late responses to requests but overall a good hotel. Buffet needs to get updated though. We stayed here for 6

First impressions were poor with rude reception. We arrived at 2.30 and were told we couldn't check in until 3. It's low season, so I doubt the place was full, and they refused to check availability. Once we found our room, things didn't improve much as it was small and

Only thing this hotel was good for was the location of it, me and my friend got into the room and realized than our luggage’s could have been bigger than the space they gave us. Room was awful and staff wasn’t the most pleasant either, worst hotel in our 3 week vacation by far.

The drive to Porto was easy. Stopped in Óbidos which was well worth the suggestion from Portugal Trails. Next on the list was Aveiro which was ok but if time is a crunch I’d pass. Traffic into Porto was really bad. Directions to parking were very clear once we figured the out.

Car parking for hotel?
Go to the hotel first park in the bus area out the front of the hotel . They will show you where to park in the public car park across the road you say you are from the hotel and you pay on departure at a reduced rate . Make sure you leave your bags at the hotel first .

Carrie Porto is a great hotel. But for a good view try the Pestana Vintage or the new Eurostars Porto Douro. Most of the hotels along thru Douro have limited parking.

You can either go by metro to sao bento station or use uber instead (we used uber a lot in porto). The hotel is a 5-7 min walk from sao bento station therefore not the best alternative if you carry lots of luggage and it's raining. But we found it ok to walk with just our hand luggage as it is downhill from sao bento.
