The rooms are spectacular and the view in room 202 of the Douro River and waterfront activity is to be savored. Everyone at the Guest House is so helpful and friendly, they were like meeting old friends. The port, coffee, and breakfast were wonderful. The presentation fabulous.....loved, loved, it. Thank you Sonia, Joao, and Carmen! Susan S

Staying at the Guest House Douro was like no other hotel experience. Carmen, Joao, Sonia and Alice are all so amazing. From the moment you step foot inside you feel so welcomed and cared for. The rooms are modern and beautifully appointed. The breakfast was fantastic with everything so fresh and tasty. I loved the fact that I asked if... More

If you are expecting a big, fancy place with a bar, restaurant, and all the trappings, this is not the place for you. But if you want impeccably clean rooms, nice fluffy towels and bathrobes, a fabulous breakfast with every kind of fruit you can imagine, and incredibly friendly and helpful hosts, this is the place. The minute you meet... More

We made a mistake staying at Guest House Douro. We stayed two days and really should have stayed at least seven. Carmen, Joao and Sonia were absolutely fabulous innkeepers as well as very helpful hosts. If there was anything more they could have done to make our visit more pleasurable, I don't know what it would be. Always friendly, helpful... More

We had planned to stay three nights at the Guest House Douro but due to airline rescheduling we ended up having only a day and a half at this wonderful place. That was far too short. The location is perfect for seeing the historical side of Porto, and the room, while small, was cleverly designed and executed to provide all... More

My wife and I recently stayed in Porto at this wonderful B&B. The location and position is simply perfect. From our windows we had the perfect view of the Douro river and across to the port houses on the other side. Gorgeous views during the day and magical at night. The owners Carmen and John are the best hosts. Their... More

We had the pleasure of staying 4 nights at Guest House Douro. We were well cared for from the moment we walked through the door. Carmen and Joao made sure we were comfortable in our beautiful room with a view to take your breath away. The service continued with suggestions of what to see in their beautiful Porto. Carmen met... This is a beautifully designed, elegant yet comfortable base for tourists or business people visiting Porto. Terrific location, right in the xx area, with half the rooms overlooking the Douro River, the other half facing the narrow xx street on the other side. Owners Carmen and Joao provide the warmest welcome we experienced in a month of Portuguese travel. Who... More
