My cousin and I had a lovely time at this quaint family owned Quinta. The staff couldn’t have been more helpful, the tour, food and wine/port was excellent, and the views amazing. I would recommend this for anyone looking for the perfect Douro Valley experience.
Located on a hillside with beautiful views of the Douro River. A small ranch style villa right out of central casting. Unfortunately, I became extremely ill within hours of my arrival—likely due to norovirus contracted in Porto. Confined to my bathroom and bedroom for the entire stay and nearly had to visit hospital. I cannot speak more highly of our host Rachel. I have never had better gust service anywhere. Rachel was unbelievably empathetic, and she took care of me as if I were a family member. She and another colleague checked in on me day and night, bringing me pitchers of fresh orange juice, tea, pastries, and COVID tests. Even the octogenarian owner made a special trip to the property in the middle of the night to care for me. Did I mention the orange juice? Two months later and I can still taste the orange juice made from oranges grown at the Quinta. It was like some voodoo magical cocaine. Quinta Da Morrocos could easily charge 10x more. A real gem. I am incredibly grateful for Rachel and everyone at Quinta Da Morrocos, and fortunate my traveling companion discovered this paradise in the Douro Valley.…
We rang as a last minute addition to a winery tour and they couldn't have been more helpful!! 1.5 hours later and we had learnt so much about the time and effort that goes into Port wine making and felt a lot more knowledgeable. The tasting really helped us confirm that knowledge. Thank you for a wonderful visit!
We really enjoyed our time here. Luis and Susanna were very friendly and we appreciated their dinner, tour and wine/port tasting. They rent a few rooms in a steeply terraced place with views of the river Douro. They make wine and port on the property, which is quiet and clean. The facility is, of course, not new, so room furnishings are from a bygone era, but the bathrooms, terrace and dining facilities are modern, clean and well maintained. Parking can be tricky on the hillside lot due to slopes and walls, but we had a great experience and luxuriated in the quiet, scenic, riverside surroundings. Highly recommended.
This winery was a family owned winery with only 5 rooms. They took great care of us, taught us about port wine making, fed us sensational meals with appropriate wine pairings. The rooms were the former bedrooms of the family before they moved into the city. The Patriarch still lived at the winery. This place and our two day stay were the highlight of the 3 week Portugal trip.
We visited as part of our Portugal Tour. This is a small vineyard producing Port and Wines. We had a tour including the winery where traditional wine making methods were explained. We saw the large oak casks used for the wine. The tour included several ports and wines to taste alongside an excellent lunchtime meal. Service was very good and the guide full of knowledge about his industry and the vineyard.
We did not stay at the Quinta, but it is a beautiful and very clean property. The tasting room overlooking the property and river are breathtaking. We were lucky enough to be able to enjoy an informative guided wine tasting during the off season. The ports are all amazing, as are the standard wines. Highly recommended! When visiting again, we will consider this for a stay and reservation for lunch/dinner. Right on the path for so many wineries. Very friendly, multi-lingual, welcoming hosts. Fascinating history of the farm/family/agritourism in the area.
Everyone at the quinta was very helpful and friendly. Luis gave us recommendations for other wineries to visit. He served us breakfast every morning which included eggs cooked to order and delicious pastries, cold meats, cheese, fruits, and more. The tour of the facilities was very informative. The meal after was really delicious, and of course came with port tasting in addition to a bottle of wine with dinner. Two desserts with two different ports were served. They also let us eat dinner the following night without the tour. We stayed in the separate house - Casa Elise - which included two bedrooms, a living room, and small bath (really tiny shower!). Only a few cons: parking is limited and tricky. Everything is uphill from the parking lot. But everything in Portugal is on a hill it seems so you get accustomed to it. We would highly recommend!…
Lovely stay. Very friendly, helpful staff. Highly recommend the winery tour and dinner. Louis gave an excellent tour of the winery. Customer service was top notch. They even got the cataplan sauce out of my favorite top from a restaurant the night before in Porto.
2nd visit - unmissable location if visiting this part of Portugal. Beautiful accommodation and area, port tour / port tasting and dinner on the terrace all fantastic. Welcomed with bottled of chilled juice and water and glasses of white port. Great hosts.
