We've just returned from a week's holiday at Madeira Bright Star and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The hotel is in a quiet location and only 10 minutes walk from Funchal town centre (it's quicker to go the back way along the side of a very lovely park). There is a Spar shop just a few minutes walk from the hotel...

We stayed for one night at the end of our holiday after our week at the Royal Savoy, the Bright Star is just down the road, ( we do this as we do not want to fly on a Monday, the airport is manic on Mondays!). We stayed here when the hotel had just opened a couple of years ago...

We enjoyed our stay at Madeira Bright Star. The room was clean and spacious. Breakfast was adequate, and plentiful .And the staff were very polite and helpful.I would not call this a four star hotel, but it is away from hustle and bustle of town ,and very close to several good resteaurants.

We checked in to the Bright Star on Oct. 10, 2013 and stayed 3 nights. Our room had some serious problems. The ceiling in the bathroom had leaked, and they cut a piece of the sheetrock out then replaced it again with strips of tape, which were coming unstuck. The toilet leaked from the base of the toilet, probably needed...

So glad we found this hotel, ideally placed for walking into town and even more convenient for walking back! The rooms are large and spotlessly clean, there's a fridge ( useful for storing the incredibly cheap and excellent wine we found), television with B.B.C. entertainment station and several other English speaking channels inc. films. Bedrooms are air conditioned which is...

This was NOT a 4 star hotel!! Very tired with no atmosphere - the lounge, reception, bar area (all one space) had no air-con, so it was quite stuffy and there was never anyone using this area and very little staff to offer service. Gave up on ordering coffee or a drink as there was no-one around on several occasions....

Stayed there with a kid and a friend of mine. Well, the hotel claims to be a 4 star hotel though i'd say it can have only 3 stars. It is small. Conveniently placed. The room was ok. Though the breakfasts were disappointing. The desserts were not enough for everyone and were not renewed even on request. The service was...

This is a nice and human size hotel. Quite asy to find once you get out of the aerobus on Avenido do Infante. It's very clean, everybody is very helpfull there. They can call if you need to hire a car, they give you good advice if you need to find a restaurant. You can easily walk either to the...

Small hotel - though it says 4 star that is debatable. Staff for the main friendly and got to know you as the week went on so you did not have to ask at reception for messages, etc. Breakfast fairly predicable: hot food available on request. Not sure about the dinner dining experience as I failed to locate a menu...
