The Zarco Residential is a very affordable hotel. For the very low price you get: perfect location, nice, helpful and lovely staff, fresh towels and cleaning every day, clean and quiet place in the neighbourhood of the Cathedral of Funchal. You can’t ask for more in that price :) (~45 euro/1person/4nights/3bed room).

You have to know what kind of traveler you are. I am a backpacker who usually stays in hostels so booking this cheap hotel in the heart of things was what I was looking for. My single room was very sparse and kind of dark as the window was blocked off but the city of Funchal is so pretty and... More

The location of the hotel was great. Very close to various restaurants, information centre and bus stops. Staff was nice and friendly. The beds and pillows were super uncomfortable. One of the beds had a deep dive right in the middle of it (we went for a room with 3 single beds). By the end of the trip everyone was... More

The position is almost in the center, near to airbus station, market(5 minutes), local transportation and there are a lot of food shops near by. A few streets away there is also a mini market. If you not use transportation till the harbor you have to walk 20 minutes (to use for ex Porto Santo line, Santa Maria de Colombo... More

Close to bus lines, many cafes, harbour, teleferico, flea market and even a museum. Basic, comfortable, clean room with fan but no fridge. Great shower with excellent water pressure. Extremely helpful staff that went out of their way to get us breakfast at 4:45 am even as it was a very simple one. Outstanding service.

Have been there 4nights with a friend! Nice rooms....Not luxurious but very comfortable and clean! Simple breakfast but good for the cheap price! The best location possible....1min from Avenida do Mar (the main one)! I recommend it!

At the tourist information desk at the airport we've been advised this guesthouse in the center of funchal. Cheap rooms..25€ per day, with bathroom. The only problem were the ants and cockroaches..after one night they gave us another room, because of our request. At least the new one had no "guests" inside..

Very enjoyable stay... Amenities covers all of the basic needs. Staff was friendly and we would be happy to stay here again. The rooms were cleaned on a daily basis, It's in an ideal position for holiday makers as the sites and restaurants are pretty much on your door step. As for value €24 a night is as cheap as it... More

Service = warm, friendly and efficient from helpful staff (e.g. let me change rooms no questions asked.) Value = at €24 per night, this is a bargain, given its location. Sleep quality = poor in courtyard rooms (noise magnified from reception area) and front (from adjacent bar.) Might be better in side rooms. Cleanliness = spotless, quite an achievement in... More
