Over the years we have stayed in various types of accommodation ranging from guest houses to five star hotels and I can honestly say we have never experienced a welcome like we had when we arrived at the Hotel Albergaria Dias. The transfer from the airport stopped by the hotel main gates on Rua de Santa Maria in the old... More

We spent two weeks in this wonderful hotel. From the moment we arrived until we left, the friendliness was fantastic. Guests were treated as family members. As a result of this, guests spoke to each other, something which does not happen in large hotels. There was a mix of nationalities too. Our room was on the second floor from where... More

Great location with loads of restaurants within 5 minutes walk. Great views of harbour from third floor room, worth paying extra for. Despite being close to the sea and the noise of the Old Town, the location is very quiet and air conditioning and fridge in room are also quiet. No barking dogs from residential homes nearby as we have... More

We have visited this hotel on several occasions and found it to be excellent in all respects. The rooms were modern & very clean. The staff, most seem to have been there for some time, are very friendly & helpful. The hotel is located in the "Old Town" in Funchal and is within easy walking distance of the sea front... More

We booked this hotel purely from the excellent reviews. As everyone says, a small family run hotel in the heart of the old town with staff giving exceptional service overseen by the owners. It is very clean and run to high standards. Our bedroom (3rd floor) although comfortable, was very small and dated, so was the bathroom. The beds were... More

Everything about this hotel was excellent. The unobtrusive yet very friendly and efficient staff ; the owner and his son, reception, bar staff, waitresses, cleaners, cook, everyone deserves a mention. In over 50 years of travelling we have never encountered such a friendly hotel. Breakfast was delightful and what you couldn't see you could ask for and the owners fruit bowl was... More

The reviews say it all and after a weeks stay I can honestly say that I have never stayed in such a friendly and welcoming hotel anywhere. I cannot add to, but can only endorse, all the great reviews that this hotel has received and I will only return to Madeira if I can stay there again. Thanks to all... More
