This is our sixth visit to Madeira and the standard of the hotels here is extremely high. Consequently it takes an exceptional hotel to stand out and the Albergaria Dias manages to do just that. It is not the largest or the most luxurious so here are the reasons why. Firstly the location, you exit a gate down a short...

From the welcome on our arrival to the moment we left, this proved to be a great experience - friendly and very helpful staff, excellent breakfast (including the famous fruit salad!), quiet rooms, great location in old town area with close proximity to bus terminals.

We have previously holidayed in Funchal a couple of time, on both occasions staying at the Porto Mare Hotel. A very fine establishment but we were drawn to the old town and having most attractions within walking distance. We settled on this hotel based on previous reviews and its ideal location. We couldn't have picked better, very friendly, clean and...

Over the years we have stayed in various types of accommodation ranging from guest houses to five star hotels and I can honestly say we have never experienced a welcome like we had when we arrived at the Hotel Albergaria Dias. The transfer from the airport stopped by the hotel main gates on Rua de Santa Maria in the old...

We spent two weeks in this wonderful hotel. From the moment we arrived until we left, the friendliness was fantastic. Guests were treated as family members. As a result of this, guests spoke to each other, something which does not happen in large hotels. There was a mix of nationalities too. Our room was on the second floor from where...

Great location with loads of restaurants within 5 minutes walk. Great views of harbour from third floor room, worth paying extra for. Despite being close to the sea and the noise of the Old Town, the location is very quiet and air conditioning and fridge in room are also quiet. No barking dogs from residential homes nearby as we have...

We have visited this hotel on several occasions and found it to be excellent in all respects. The rooms were modern & very clean. The staff, most seem to have been there for some time, are very friendly & helpful. The hotel is located in the "Old Town" in Funchal and is within easy walking distance of the sea front...

We booked this hotel purely from the excellent reviews. As everyone says, a small family run hotel in the heart of the old town with staff giving exceptional service overseen by the owners. It is very clean and run to high standards. Our bedroom (3rd floor) although comfortable, was very small and dated, so was the bathroom. The beds were...

This 3 star hotel is a fabulous gem in a perfect location for Funchal Old Town & a short walk to central Funchal. The staff are excellent giving a friendly, helpful service with a genuine interest in their guests. Rooms were perfect, very well maintained with brilliant cleaning services. Sunny with sea view & balcony for relaxing. Breakfast was a...
