A complimentary welcome drink was offered upon arrival while paperwork was taken care of. Staff is very friendly and caring. Room clean and even on first floor, no insects. I feel so safe here that I sleep with the balcony doors open instead of blasting the air conditioner. Great breakfast. This little hotel is well located for a single traveler as well as for groups. Back door gate take you to a great variety of restaurants. Cable-car and bus station within 5 min walking. Shops close by. Main shopping street within 10 min walking. (If you want shopping mall I recommend Madeira shopping - bus 8 (Zara, Berskha, iStore)). Most travel companies pick up at front gate. Only one travel company wanted to pick up at the cable station 5 min away. I can highly recommend this hotel.
Just come back from a lovely week at this hotel. The staff are very friendly .The hotel is immaculate and there is always space around its beautiful pool.It has lovely gardens and a back gate leads straight into the old town area of Funchal where there are lots of lovely restaurants to choose from. The breakfasts have lots of choice.Definitely would stay here again rather than the soul less big hotels the other end of Funchal.
Was recommended the Albergaria Dias by a friend, pleased he did as it exceeded expectations. A small very friendly family run hotel with a personal touch. Nothing was too much trouble. Hotel is perfectly situated in the Old Town area with the pathway at the rear leading out into the narrow cobbled streets filled with restaurants offering a wide range of dining. It’s also only a couple of minutes walk to the sea front. Going back down the pathway into the hotel after a day out was like the entrance to a secret garden. The pool area quiet and peaceful. A very relaxing vibe. Thanks to Katrina and the team for making a nice holiday into a memorable one. We will definitely be coming back again.
What can I say that hasn’t already been said? We have travelled for many many years and stayed in loads of accommodation, but this place has to have the most friendliest and attentive staff we have ever encountered. From the moment we arrived to the moment we left every single member of staff has been fab. Carla, Katrina, Monica and Celia clearly love their jobs and could not be more genuine and fabulous. (Sorry not sure the name of the cleaner and the lady in the kitchen that was equally as nice). My partner was Ill for his actual birthday and they were so caring, asking how he was and offering remedies, cancelling pre arranged bookings and offering alternatives. They even did a belated birthday sing song at breakfast when he felt better, along with a bottle of bubbles. If we returned to Madeira we wouldn’t stay anywhere else! Thanks albergaria dias you have been top class in every way!…
This is a lovely hotel in a fabulous location and just outside the garden gate there are dozens of quality restaurants and bars and the "artist quarter" area is literally on the doorstep. The staff (Monica and Rosa were just fabulous) were really friendly and helpful and helped in all situations. The management however were reluctant to turn on the A/C in the bar and restaurant and this resulted in lots of mosquitoes and the resultant bites. It has lovely gardens and beautiful pool area but could be so much more user friendly, but it does have that "family" feel and we did enjoy our stay overall.
This lovely family run hotel is a real gem. It is like staying with old family friends who spoil you every day. We had a wonderful 3rd floor room with fabulous views. The staff are superb, Mr Dias senior keeping a close eye on things, Cecelia the fount of all knowledge about places to visit and where to eat, Clara and Monica were so welcoming and helpful. The little private alley at the back leading to the old town is so handy. A lovely relaxing place to stay.
If you're like us and hate the large impersonal hotels that dominate Funchal then this lovely little gem is for you. Friendly, spotless, excellent service and in the best spot in the old town. Our room on the 3rd floor had stunning views across the bay. Great breakfast which they vary daily. Would definitely stay again and recommend to anyone.
We left this gem of a hotel last week and look forward to returning soon. Can’t really say anything more original than previous posts, it’s friendly, clean and tidy, in a great location. Watching the world go by on the balcony with a glass of something to hand is just lovely. Thank you Carla, Louisa, Monica and the lovely Mr Dias for everything especially making my birthday special. Tips would be, take a small pair of binoculars to watch the cruise ships come and go. The 3rd floor is probably better for a view but have stayed on the 2nd and that was just as nice. Ladies take a pair of good flat shoes (nice trainers?) for the evenings as the cobbles in the Old town are tricky.
My husband and and I booked last minute. What a treat. The hotel is lovely, the location perfect, in the heart of the old town. All rooms have sea view where you can watch cruise ships come in, and if there for new year you can have a fabulous night, but head for your balcony with a large rum to watch the fireworks as it's perfect. The staff are so nice, friendly and helpful. Also I had the privilege of meeting the family who own the hotel, they are lovely and took an interest in how our holiday was going. We will definitely be back
Our fourth visit here and this wonderful hotel never ceases to deliver. A lovely secluded hotel in the middle of the old town, handy for everything. The staff are all amazing, so friendly and helpful. In these days of COVID regulations Carla is there to quietly help any Brits struggling with the dreaded passenger locator form. She does an amazing job. It’s a small, family run hotel and the care and attention to detail all show. Our friends, visiting for the first time, loved every bit of it and, like us, will certainly return.
