Stayed for a week last week, was pleasantly surprised as it was a last minuet booking. Nice hotel, friendly staff. The rooms are great, must have been freshly decorated as they looked immaculate. rooms cleaned to a high standard daily. Overall stay was great value for money. Only gripe, Breakfast buffet was a little chaotic but that had more to do with the guests (LOL) it was very short on crockery, so waited a while but had to give up and leave.

***FYI, I have throughly read & have gone through many of the previous reviews made so i can compare or challenge them in relation to my own experience of the accommodation*** SEPTEMBER 21 (11 NIGHTS) - PACKAGE HOILDAY JET2 **POSITIVES** LOCATION - A great location to use as a base to explore and enjoy the local surroundings LOCAL RESTAURANTS/BARS - Fantastic options all within walking distances especially the area before the porto santo line (see Google maps) - for example The Grill @Istanbul PLENTY OF CAR RENTAL & TOUR OFFICES - We choose to rent a car and do the tours and explore ourselves. I recommend 25 fontes, Calheta Beach, Porto Moniz for days out. LOCAL LIDOS (TWO) - Spent 3 days at the lido at the bottom from where the hotel and 1 day at the other lido which about 15 minutes walk up (north towards calheta). Both fantastic for sea swimming and relaxing in the salt pools. Lifeguards on site for safety. BLACK SAND/PEBBLE BEACH (8-10 DRIVE) CALLED Praia Formosa Beach Madeira - Great way to spend the afternoon relaxing HOTEL POOL - CLEAN AND REGULAR POOL TESTS CONDUCTED LOBBY (SEATING AREAS) - NICE SETTING, COMFORTABLE LUNCH TIME POOL-BAR FOOD - NICE MENU AND GOOD PRICED (PIZZA, CHIPS ETC). THE DAY BAR TEAM VERY GOOD AND PROACTIVE **NEGATIVES** HALF BOARD OPTIONS (BREAKFAST & EVENING MEAL) — Absolutely disgusting, unhygienic and quite simply a horrific MESS! You can choose to ignore my review for what me and my partner experienced or you can SAVE yourself money, time and stress. My experience compared to some of the reviews made from 3+ YEARS ago. THERE HAS BEEN NO CHANGE AND THE SAME THINGS ARE STILL HAPPENING? I have managed large teams, dealing with hundreds of customers in a building every hour and believe me when i say this. WHAT AN ABSOLUTE MESS! The management is non-existent here! The restaurant is simply not capable of dealing with that many people especially DURING COVID! We felt unsafe/uncomfortable the entire time when we first entered the restaurant. They provide plastic gloves for people to use to handle the hot lids and cutlery. No one botheres and the staff do not put any emphasis on the safety. I actually can't tell you how many people where in the restaurant at once. It was ridiculous. YOU EXPECT SOME LEVEL OF SOCIAL DISTANCING AND COVID SAFETY REGULATIONS ESPECIALLY HAVING SPENT HUNDREDS ON COVID TESTS & THE POSSIBILITY OF SPENDING HUNDREDS MORE IF BECOMING POSTIVE AS A RESULT OF SELF ISOLATION. There should be booked slots/times spread across to avoid this. There were only 5-6 options of hot food. That night it was VEG LASAGNA, RANDOM VEGETABLES, FISH AND THEN EMPTY HOT PLATES. Tasteless, cold and random food selections (a plate of disaster). The time you queue up the food is gone and their appears to be no rush from the staff to restock the food. Then you have your "actual" cold food with fruit, cheese, ham and random pots of dessert. Since that first night we did not eat again at the evening restaurant. Instead every night after we had chosen to walk through the restaurant and take a look at the food availability and conduct an overall review so i could provide constructive feedback. We paid around £150/160pp for half board. I have already sent a complaint to Jet2 (hoilday provider) and will be following up our investigation directly with the hotel/management. WHAT A WASTE OF MONEY THAT IS. You can actually spend less per night on food in the local restaurants and get a 100% better experience. Honestly, the food should just be given to the pigeons. The place is swarming with the pigeons trying to eat your food. TRUST ME, I HAVE PICTURE EVIDENCE OF THEM EATING OFF PEOPLE'S PLATES WHEN UN ATTENDED. Where is the pest control measures? Staff don't seem to care YET, there are signs in the hotel lift stating the facts about the diseases that the pigeons carry!!! The breakfast mess is even worse. The amount of people in that restaurant at 07:30 when it opens is beyond belief. Its scary. It would be shut down for neglegence and failure/breach for lack of control measures during covid. I would love to see a report of a random food quality/safety audit. It would fail. I think I've said enough about the half board options. Just go and enjoy the local food and save yourself the stress, time and money. **NEUTRAL** INCLINE TO HOTEL - For me i do not mind a nice walk up and down. Nice bit of exercise. But i can understand for some why it would be an inconvenience. Its not as bad as what some have written. ROOMS - Decent rooms, clean and spacious but no aircon. The room fans are not good enough for that kind of heat. As you can see ive written alot more positives than negatives. We had a great time but the half board option let it down. I would recommend the hotel for the reasons listed aslong as you do not choose to eat the breakfast and evening dinner buffet. I hope that is clear. Overall score: 6.5/10

Stayed here for a month and sure, it wasn't perfect but it was pretty darn close! They've spent a lot of time and money upgrading areas during Covid and they're carrying on! They also act on words of advice and concerns promptly. We all love places who listen to their customers! It was very well located (except the the hill but everyone mentions that and it does help your fitness! Then again, the entire island is hilly so what's an extra one to your hotel!?) It was clean enough, staff are super friendly, beds were beyond comfortable and breakfast was spectacular! The rooms are a very good size and are being renovated . Breakfast if you haven't booked it is €5 a day per person or book 3 and get a fourth for free. It's 07:30 until 10:30, unlimited buffet! The pools are good, the Terrace Bar food is very well priced (drinks a little steep) and there are various events during the week. Zumba, Salsa, Aqua aerobics, Levada walk and evening music too! The gym is brand spanking new. It doesn't yet have air con or anything but there are windows and the kit is to a very high spec! During Covid, everything was cleaned before and after but there's sanitiser for you to use if you wish also. I could say so much but I feel this is enough. Above all, I want to stress that this Hotel has made very positive changes and are continuing to do so!! There's a lot of credit to be given to the staff here and I'd recommend it with pleasure! I'd also happily return but I feel I've seen all of Madeira in the month I spent there! Beautiful island, 'nuf said! 🎉 Hope my pictures show this place in an honest light!

A lovely hotel situated in a good location to explore Funchal. About 20/ 25 minute walk from the centre but only 5 minutes from nearby cafes and restaurants. We had an apartment on the 9th floor with a great view out over the Atlantic Ocean. The room was spacious enough for 3 adults and was well equipped with a kitchenette, the room was serviced daily and the hotel itself was very clean everywhere. The facilities at the hotel are wide and varied with indoor and outdoor pools, a gymnasium, restaurant and poolside bar. Evening entertainment was provided for those who wished to attend. Breakfast was just what I would have expected from a hotel serving hundreds of people at a time. There was plenty of choice and it was kept well stocked. The staff are all friendly and are delightful with nothing being too much trouble. The hotel is on a hill but Madeira is hilly and the walk up to Mimosa is good exercise!!

Visited as a family of 5 in July. We had two children with us aged 14 and 8. This was a last minute booking so wasn't expecting too much but was pleasantly surprised. The hotel is lovely and clean. All staff are absolutely lovely. Breakfast was fine and we ate at the pool bar a couple of times and the food was reasonably priced and great. The hotel is close to lots of shops, restaurants and bars and also to the Lido which we visited twice. There was plenty of sun loungers around the pool area. The sun didn't fully hit the pool until around lunch but this gave us chance to sight see in the morning and then the children could play in the pool all afternoon. I think the hotel deserves a reassessment as it is far better than its rating. would definitely visit again. !!
