This is a great little restaurant (and guest house) with a decked area for outside eating. The menu is limited (3 choices for each course) but very good food. The garlic bread was the best, as was the house red! Service not the quickest but not a problem. Worth a visit.

Rooms are not the best, but as another reviewer mentioned they are aware of this and doing improvents all the time. Speaking to the hotel manager, they dont get a low season like other med resorts so refurbishments are done as and when they get time. The food was amazing. I had the set 3 course dinner and was delighted!... More

This was my first time at this hotel. First room assigned had a dreadful bed (springs poking through), and the toilet was leaking, smelled like hell, and had obviously been leaking before as the toilet door and bedroom wooden flooring were corroded. After complaining, we were told there were no more rooms, and no new beds. After threatening to cancel... More

We have stayed here on many occasions. Always a friendly welcome. Rooms, especially the bathroom are a little tired and need updating, but the owners are aware of this and will be making improvements. The staff are terrific, nothing is too much trouble, you just have to ask. Buffet breakfast is very good, with hot and cold food available. The... More

I came over here for a week in the middle of my 3 week visit to Glasgow. When we lived in Glasgow my wife and I visited this hotel and found the food to be so good we ate here every night and it was also a good walk to the nearest restaurant. I know remember 2 reasons the Flame... More

Stayed for 5 days. This family run hotel is fantastic. Nothing is to much for any of the staff. Always pleasant and very helpful. Breakfast cooked to order. You could ask for more from a budjet hotel. Rooms basic but plent to do in and around Funchal/island. Rooms cleaned every day with rresh towels, welcome drink in the room. Book... More

The room wasn't as expected however the hotel staff are very nice. Definitely suitable for a short business trip as it has good wifi and good food just downstairs. Receptionist was awesome. Paid for 4 nights and had to cut my trip short - asked for a refund for the following three nights and it wasn't possible although I'd paid... More

A really nicely designed place with a cool patio and outside seating areas. Nice quiet surroundings, when the neighbors dogs were not barking (which they did around the clock). Lovely view from the balcony and the room was clean with fresh towels every day. But the room was really too small for two people and the double bed was small... More

My wife and I stayed here at the end of May and early June. We had a fantastic balcony view in our double room. As well as us receiving great service from all staff, a special mention should go to the kitchen staff who created fantastic food every day. There is very little 'budget' about this hotel except for the... More
