I went to Maderia on my own for the first time, and where you stay can make all the difference to a holiday. I was made to feel incredibly welcome by all the staff. They were very helpful, friendly and funny! Room was lovely and the hotel was well worth the fairly modest price. If you book direct with them... More

Originally I ought to spend 1-2 weeks at the end of october, but I ended up staying 3 weeks. I had a room with ocean view and breakfast and dinner included(half board). From the first minute I've entered the building I had a warm feeling about the place. After that entering the room I stayed in, I was impressed of... More

My wife and me were here in October 2016, we had a room with a ocean view and breakfast included, and we are very pleased with the place. Room was not that big, but was so clean, cosy, and pleasant. Staff is warm, pleasant and very helpful. Everything was in 15-30 min reach, but Funchal is so mountainous, so i... More

We stayed here for two weeks and what we experienced was an excellent budget hotel. The room and bathroom were basic but clean. The staff were excellent. From the housekeepers to the managers everyone was polite and friendly, and the reception and waiting staff couldn’t have been more helpful. The whole atmosphere was of a young team who are working... More

The staff could not have been more helpful on our delightful stay here on this magnificent island. Room with sea view was basic however the food was continually exemplary and the service was freindly without being imposing. Would have no hesitation on coming back to this hotel.

The hotel is a little way out of the centre (about a 30-40 minute walk) but the bus stop is just up the road. It is quite an uphill trek to get back to the hotel. The restaurant at the hotel has a limited menu but we found something we liked every evening and didn't eat out at all. The... More

Beautiful Boutique Hotel. Went here to eat following a recommendation. Two of our party are strict vegetarians which can sometimes cause problems on an island full of Beef and Fish. No problem for the wonderful chef and staff at The Flame Tree. In fact my veggie mate mate said it was the best food he'd eaten in a long time,... More

It's pleasent. I wouldn't want to stay longer than the few days we did as there was little in the way of sun loungers or anywhere to just relax properly. The pool is tiny and looks a bit shabby. Breakfast was hit and miss but plenty of it and great service. The rooms are spotlessly clean and the reception staff... More

This is a great little restaurant (and guest house) with a decked area for outside eating. The menu is limited (3 choices for each course) but very good food. The garlic bread was the best, as was the house red! Service not the quickest but not a problem. Worth a visit.

Rooms are not the best, but as another reviewer mentioned they are aware of this and doing improvents all the time. Speaking to the hotel manager, they dont get a low season like other med resorts so refurbishments are done as and when they get time. The food was amazing. I had the set 3 course dinner and was delighted!... More
