A truly beautiful hotel set in botanical gardens; the grounds are so established, everywhere is shielded by shrubbery, so very private. Apparently, the hotel was full but it never felt like it. We had a superior room that was roomy, comfortable with a balcony overlooking the gardens with a daybed & comfy chair. We found the main pool (heated) was in full sun in the mornings & mostly had it to ourselves; the adults pool, also heated, in full sun in the afternoons. Comfy beds that could easily be moved. The breakfasts were plentiful - good buffet, plus a cooked menu. We had lunch several times at the bar/restaurant & really enjoyed it (advise booking). Didn't eat in the manor house, as a set menu that hubby didn't fancy, but same menu in the evening as lunchtime in the the more casual bar/restaurant. As many mention, the staff here are so friendly & obliging - must give Jennifer on reception a special mention, as she showed us to our room then was generally on duty when we wanted to book restaurants, taxis, bus tours etc. The hotel recommended restaurants & then booked them for us, prior to our arrival. Separate reviews but, highly recommend Franco's Corner, La Vaca Negra (both walking distance) and Kampo. Have also written a separate review on a full-day wine tour we booked separately with winetoursmadeira.com. Excellent day out with a storyteller as opposed to a guide. Finally, I would (again) like to thank the hotel for recognizing my birthday - champagne & a cake produced for breakfast & a further half-bottle of champagne in our room when we returned from our day out. We would love to return.

We visited to for 1 week booked under easy-jet for 1 week at the end of Jan. The hotel is a small hotel with a personal touch. The standard of rooms and facilities are excellent. We didn't eat at a-la-carte restaurant but the "normal restaurant" food was excellent. The hotel has a real sense of tranquility with just lovely gardens. The main pool was supposed to be 25 C that's probably a bit generous it was a little cold the smaller pool was a more reasonable temperature. This hotel (in my view) is only really suitable for couples - not family's not that they would not be welcome its just not that type of hotel. We can see why people come back year on year for the relaxing atmosphere. (But I'm not sure id recommend Maderia for familys its not that kind of place - its best suited to people whom like walking and the countryside).

What a treat to escape the dreary UK weather for a piece of paradise in the warm sunshine. We loved our stay so much we booked to return for New Year 2024 - it was that good. The staff are all lovely (especially Jennifer, so warm and friendly, great customer service). Loved our breakfast each morning on the outside terrace, lovely views and great coffee. I had the outdoor pool to myself most days - maybe a bit fresh for some but fine once in. The jacuzzi was nice, and plenty of gym equipment if walking up and down into Funchal isn't enough to keep you fit! It's not a short walk but pleasant enough going down. It's easy to get a taxi back at under 7 euros. Can't wait to return, this place is a real treat :).

A lovely hotel set in mature gardens. Old tradition meets modern facilities. Great staff, location and food. This is our 4th visit to the Quinta da Casa Branca, it and being December the Christmas festivities and lights are in full swing in Funchal. A charming and relaxing hotel.

The entire hotel was amazing! Beautiful gardens and pools. Amazing to relax after exploring the city. Restaurant was delicious as were the cocktails. Breakfast was quite the spread with good coffee, and a hot menu as well.

A perfect quiet, boutique style hotel. The breakfast is delicious and served outdoors all year round, the perfect start to the day. The bedrooms are spacious with sitting areas and a private outdoor area too. Friendly staff and great attention to detail. There are two pools set within the immaculate gardens amongst the banana plants and butterflies. We have stayed twice and hope to return. The website doesn’t do it justice. It’s the sort of place you want to tell everyone about whilst also keeping it secret!!

A beautiful hotel. This was our second stay here and it felt familiar in a good way. Some of the staff even remembered us. Very clean, good breakfast choice and lots of places to get "me time". I enjoyed reading my book in the library. The only suggestion I have for this place would be to perhaps supply bottled or filtered water for staff. Feels weird to have to order water or buy my own. A hotel this calibre should have drinking water available for guests free of charge.

An outstanding hotel set in beautiful gardens, the room was perfect, the staff were lovely (nothing was too much trouble) from start to finish. Breakfast was excellent, we also had one meal in the less formal restaurant which was very good. Would definitely come back here if we returned to Madeira. I can't really fault this place.

One of the best hotels we have ever stayed at. Set in beautiful, well-kept, extensive gardens, making a nice peaceful haven to return to after a day exploring. The rooms, and we were in the garden rooms, are of good size with plenty of storage and well-maintained. The food has been fantastic, and being on half board meant that we had silver service dining four course evening meals. All food was cooked to order, so food allergies could easily be accommodated. The staff remembered those allergies and always said we could change the menu so that we could have it. That sums up all the staff at the hotel, most of whom have worked here for several years and really understand what customer service is all about. We will be back.

Our stay at this hotel was outstanding, I cannot recommend it highly enough. The hotel stands in fantastic grounds, the gardens are immaculate, kept in order by a team of gardeners. There are a large variety of mature trees, plants and shrubs through out the gardens, all pruned to look their best. You don't feel as if you are part of the hustle and bustle of Funchal once you are inside the gates.... The pathways are uneven in parts due to the nature of type of stone and their design, but there are lots of handrails. There are 2 pools a smaller one for adults only and a larger one. The larger pool has both toilets and showers close at hand, both have sun beds, umbrellas and towels, all surrounding areas are immaculate. This seems to be an adult oriented hotel. Accommodation was outstanding, we were lucky enough to stay in The Manor House, suite 4. The suite comprised of a lounge, dining area, large bedroom (with safe) and the biggest marble bathroom I have ever seen. In addition to this we were lucky enough to have a large balcony that caught the sun in the afternoon, which had 2 sunbeds, a table and chairs for our exclusive use. The house keeping team we encountered during our stay were excellent, there was not a spec of dust anywhere! However I would like to mention that if you were staying in a 'garden room' then some of them are under reception and near to the stairs up to reception, which means you do not have as much privacy as others further away from reception. Food Breakfast is served in the Garden Pavilion Restaurant, which is a lovely space, however if you are susceptible to being bitten by insects I would suggest you dine inside the Pavilion rather than outside . Choice for breakfast was excellent, with a very varied buffet along with options of cooked breakfast from the kitchen. Staff were very helpful and the buffet was continually restocked, so there is no need to worry if you fancy a late breakfast. Coffee and lunch is served at the Casa do Quinta Bar, here again there is a varied menu, but there are not sandwiches and panini's on offer as that is not the type of food that the Bar offers. Coffee and food is also served around the large pool. Dinner is served in The Dinning Room, I would say that the pictures on the web site do not really do it justice, since the weather was warm we ate every night on the al fresco terrace, which is at the back of the restaurant overlooking a part of the garden, what a setting! Dress code is smart casual and not overly formal, which makes the experience more comfortable. We had the Table D'hote every night and the food was truly amazing, we ate here for 9 nights and the menu was not repeated during that time. The Table D'Hote consists of an Amouse Bouche, starter, fish or meat course and a dessert if you are going for 3 courses. Service is orchestrated by Brigida or Carlos and their team, who were outstanding, nothing was too much trouble and all staff knew what they were serving you (which makes a change), Staff were happy to explain dishes if you are not sure what they were (we used this quite a bit). I have an onion allergy and this was accommodated with no issues for the duration of our stay, which made an enormous difference to my holiday experience. Whilst there is a wine list, we used the Humberto's knowledge of local wines to accompany the food we were having and Fabion when Humberto was not on duty. The wine list has a good range of prices and wine can be bought by the glass, which is what we chose, meaning we could have wine that complimented the dishes we were eating. There is an A la Carte menu as an alternative, but we enjoyed the Table d'Hote so much we did not chose from it. If you dine for 3 nights or more there is a dinning offer, which is good value. I cannot comment on the Spa and Gym as I did not use either of those areas. Would we go here again ? YES definitely. Did it live up to expectations? YES and more...... in our experience it is a hotel that puts the enjoyment of its guests first and foremost
