Our second stay here. Top floor port view corner room with fantastic balcony getting the sun all day. Glass of espumante on check in and a bottle in the room on ice plus a bottle of Douro red. Amazing views watching the cruise ships come in at sunrise. Fantastic breakfast in Gallo D'Oro restaurant . Excellent buffet meal in Rose...

Our 12 night stay at the Cliff Bay hotel exceeded our expectations once again. All areas of this hotel function in complete unison with one another Chamber maids, pool attendants, bar and restaurant service, front desk reception, all go the extra mile to make you feel at home, and enhance your holiday enjoyment. I cannot think of any negatives to...

We have just spent a week at the Cliff Bay, on their romance package which was brilliant. It included free taxi transfers, fruit and bubbly in the room, dinner in Il Gallo and a 50 min couples massage. We had a wonderful relaxing time, the service was second to none, the facilities all very well maintained and luxurious. We were...

We loved this hotel: the staff are very helpful and pleasant; there are regular events such as Blandy's Madeira tastings, a weekly drinks party and Portuguese lessons; the breakfasts are amazing and the sea views to die for. Our corner room was very comfortable and the hotel has a pleasant bar with regular live music that was actually rather good...

This is a genuine 5* hotel, very comfortable rooms, excellent ameneties, first class staff, high quality food, etc etc. The hotel is around 2km west of the centre of Funchal, with regular courtesy buses and plentiful taxis (taxi fare around €5-€7 one way). There are plenty of restaurants around but...

Excellent hotel. Could not fault anything about the place, amenities, staff, food - all first class. Hope to return again next year. The Michelin 2 Star Restaurant - Gallo d'Oro produces excellent dishes - a must for any new visitor.

Fantastic hotel to relax and enjoy the amazing food! The location, staff, room and food were amazing! We were booked into an upper floor sea view but were upgraded to an upper floor harbour and sea view for our stay. Room 803! Wonderful part of the hotel with views to die for and so quiet at night so slept well....

Spent 6 days here. Room overlooking sea and hotel westwards. Twin queen beds were huge, food was excellent and what was striking was the staff were really good, front desk, restaurants, lobby etc. Interesting menus, with fish theme on Friday and local entertainment on Sunday, which was great fun. Organised trips from front desk really easily and there was always...
