Stay in Sintra’s main square opposite the 15th century medieval National Palace when you choose the NH Sintra Hotel, formerly known as Tivoli Sintra. Perfectly located in this UNESCO-listed town, it puts you within easy reach of attractions including the Palace of Monserrate and the Pena Palace. Stunning views are one of the hotel’s big attractions. You can see the Moorish Castle – and even as far as the sea – from the lobby balcony. Many of the 77 rooms offer terraces and balconies from which you can admire views of the medieval village, the Sintra Valley and the castle. Rooms are also equipped with Nespresso machines, free Wi-Fi and flat-screen TVs. Start your day right with the English and Continental buffet breakfast served in Miranda Restaurant, featuring a feast of fruit, breads, cheeses and pastries. If you want to try Portuguese specialties, try dinner in the restaurant, where traditional favorites like codfish are on the menu, as well as international cuisine. You can round off the evening with a nightcap in the lobby bar. The NH Sintra provides the perfect venue for meetings and special occasions in rooms offering mountain views.

NH Sintra Centro offers spacious and comfortable rooms with impressive views, though some guests suggest that certain aspects of the decor and cleanliness could be modernized. The central location garners high praise for its convenience to Sintra's attractions, and the service is noted for being friendly and helpful. Opinions on value are divided; while happy hour and room service are considered reasonably priced, concerns are raised about costly parking and breakfast. Amenities are generally appreciated, despite some calling for updates to the facilities.

The hotel room was basic but ok for value for money, not cleaned to a very high standard, with hair on the toilet floor and a used shower cap available for use. The room we had was facing the road, which we thought would not be a problem due to the quiet area of Sintra at night time. However, there were works from 3am outside the hotel, leading to no possibility to sleep. Upon check out, we were not asked how our stay was.

Location was excellent for us, in the centre of old town. I would recommend for one night stay due to location and value, if staying longer, I recommend choosing a little more comfort after a long day exploring the beautiful Sintra!

There were good and bad things about this hotel.

THE GOOD
Location was excellent, right in the centre of the historic old town with panoramic views over the valley. On first entrance it looked quite grand and the breakfast was varied with plenty of choice. The staff were very friendly indeed and courteous.

THE BAD
On close inspection the hotel was looking rather tired and lacked general maintenance. Virtually everything that was attached to a wall was loose both in the room and in the public spaces - just needs someone to go round with a screwdriver!
The restaurant evening menu had very limited choice and the presentation of the food on the plate left a lot to be desired and lacked flair. A little extra thought would have helped immensely without any extra cost involved on behalf of the hotel. One night we had the steak sandwich which came with a bread bun with a chunk of meat in it with a few chips, no salad garnish, sauce, nothing. Looked very disappointing when it arrived.
The room we had was looking tired. All the fittings were loose, the wardrobe knobs were loose and virtually hanging off, the bottom of the bathroom door was all delaminating due to probably a flood at sometime, the toilet seat was also delaminating, the loo roll holder was mounted about a foot from the floor totally out of reach sitting down or otherwise (ok for midgets!), there were yellow stains on the grouting at the foot of the shower cubicle, the overhead shower head never worked (only the hand sprayer) and there were several unpleasant stains on the carpet in the room. There was a standard lamp in the room where the shade had slipped down and the stem which held it came off completely in my hand.
Be warned about the coffee machine in the room, it is not complimentary - 2 Euros per cup! And the mini bar, they had the cheek to charge 5 Euros for a small jar of peanuts and 3.50 Euros for a tiny packet of Pringles! The actual drinks bar was under lock and key and no way explained to us how you accessed it, but due to the high prices we wouldn't have used it anyway.

Would we stay there again? probably not.

The location of the hotel is undoubtedly its strong point, on foot we can visit virtually all the sights.
The hotel staff is the most friendly and helpful one can find and the breakfast is also very good both in the quality of what is served and in the variety.
Regarding the hotel and rooms, despite being in good condition, one notices in one or another detail that the years weigh a bit, and at the level of sleep one hears a sound of background (maybe from the air-conditioned central) that for the most sensitive to small noises traces a slight inconvenience but does not prevent a good rest.

We stayed here for one night during our trip to Portugal. The reception staff were friendly and very helpful ordering taxis to get up to the Pena Palace. We ordered room service when we arrived and it was very reasonably priced and good quality. The hotel is in a good location right next door to the National Palace of Sintra and within a 10-minute walk of the Quinta da Regaleira.

Our stay was for only one night but we would definitely return to this hotel and recommend NH for a stay in Sintra. It is ideally located in the town centre, with parking.
The happy hour was very reasonable for drinks and there was a wide selection of hot and cold food for breakfast. The room was clean and comfortable.
All the staff we encountered were very helpful and charming.

The staff is very kind and welcoming. Francisco spoke French which was very appreciated.
We had a room on the reception floor, with a balcony giving a view towards the Quinta da Regaleira.
The room was small, but comfortable. More storage space would be appreciated, as well as more hooks for towels and clothes.
Breakfast is served in a beautiful room on the 3rd floor. The quality and variety of products was excellent.
Access to the hotel is a bit difficult by car, but that's not its fault. The city of Sintra is made like this. It is better to go there without a car. However, parking is expensive (15€ per day).
We would return, perhaps by train, to avoid the stress of driving in this city.
The location of the hotel is unbeatable!

This hotel enjoys an enviable position right next to the Sintra National Palace, right in the centre of the old town.

Our visit started badly with the hotel trying to charge us €4 per suitcase for bringing our suitcases from the bus stop in front of the national Palace (about 100 metres away). What a cheek! When we complained, there was no more talk of a charge, but the damage was done and we were already annoyed.

Judging by the photos, this was 'the place to be' in the distant past, but no longer. Rooms are old and tired. While the bathrooms have been tarted up, the walls are still crumbling and damp. The furniture in the rooms is repainted 1950s style wooden furniture - very old fashioned and with chips knocked out of it. I'm assuming it is cheap to stay here, as we were with a group.

The wifi is simply appalling, very weak and logs you out even if you put your 'phone down for just a second.

The breakfast was in a room with a lovely view down to the coast and over the palaces and grand houses of Sintra, such as the Quinta da Regaleira. However, the breakfast service itself was chaotic and badly managed. For three days, the coffee machine did not work and each day the staff just stared at it, perplexed. Why didn't they bother to get it fixed? The food was the usual poor array for Portugal. No decent hot food. There was a broken chair in the dining room, which we pointed out to the staff. Nobody did anything about it and on the three mornings in succession, the chair was still put out at a table there - a danger to guests! How can this hotel employ such hopeless staff?

This is a dilemma, because the location is good. But if you're looking for anything with a modicum of class or comfort, this is not it.

Just had 2 nights at this hotel. We managed to park on the street behind the hotel for free during the whole stay although we didn’t move the car from the original place as we walked everywhere. The location is amazing for the amenities in the town and for the Palace and Castle. There is a car park at the hotel accessible from the back street if you are unable to find a free space the hotel charges a reasonable day rate for parking and if you visit in the hot summer months I would imagine it to a bonus as it’s a garaged car park.
The room was clean and the bed extremely comfortable, with a daily towel change. The coffee machine didn’t work however reception changed it immediately on advising them of the issue. One tip, take your own Nespresso compatible pods or there is a small charge per pod after you have used the 4 complimentary pods provided.
The hotel offers a complimentary water station in reception which is a nice touch. The views from the bar are superb, especially at sunset and there’s a huge selection of spirits all reasonably priced, particularly if you manage to go during Happy Hour two for one, 4-6pm!!
All the staff were amazing, so friendly and helpful, particularly reception and bar staff. They all speak excellent English but if you have some Portuguese, I urge you to try it out, it will not go unappreciated.
We didn’t get breakfast at the hotel, preferring to go to the local cafe 2 minutes walk away, opening at 9am.
Our room was on The Valley side and the afternoon November sunshine was an unexpected delight as we sat on the balcony on the chairs and table provided, and watched the sun disappear into the hillside with the sea view in the distance.
I would so recommend this hotel for the location, surrounding amenities ( we had dinner on both nights at 2 amazing restaurants within 3 minutes walk.

You have to also try Cafe Saudade for coffee or afternoon tea and go hungry, the cakes are delicious.

Outstanding reception when we stayed here for my Birthday and short break. Reception staff were very helpful and nothing was to much trouble for them especially Jessica who was always there to assist with any issues we had. The room we had was large and very clean with a fantastic view of the surrounding woodland and places of interest which was one of the reasons we chose Sintra.
Kitchen staff and the breakfast was spot on and if you did not see what you wanted then you only had to ask and it was cooked for you, the staff spoke good English and always asked if they could do anything for you. SARA and HUGO were an outstanding welcome to your breakfast meal with local knowledge and a keen interest in your interests and lifestyles.
Sintra was all we had researched for pre-booking our break and with the hotel coming up trumps it really did make our break an enjoyable one so to the staff that we met a massive Thank you from us both. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

Good structure. Convenient, attached to the historic center and with paid parking (15 €); to access it it is advisable to contact the hotel so that they can send you a qr-code to access the historic center. There are also parking lots in front of the hotel but they are few.
Good and varied breakfast, NH style.
Large and spacious room (suite) with two rooms, one double and the other sitting room, used as a bedroom with sofa bed and a folding bed (a bit old). Also present entrance and
Bathroom not very large, but complete (without bidet) with bowl sink not very comfortable, but for one night is fine.
The room was parquet.
Nice welcome aperitif with a plate of cold cuts and cheeses... there was also a bottle of wine, but we did not open it and we do not know if it was part of the welcome; very welcome water (5 bottles overall for 4 people).
Also present the restaurant, hairdresser and gym but are services that we have not used.

There are also the tuk tuk taxies that are fairly easy to catch from the square but I can't remember the price. We were there in August and it was not a good experience unless you want to feel like a sheep. Hundreds of people coraled into lines back to back as you move through the palace. The moorish castle was better and I wish we would have had more than 1 full day to visit lesser visited houses.

Parking was free either in garage or in front of the hotel. About the prices: we had only 2 options , with or without the breakfast which was excellent but there was different type of rooms , with terace or without. We didn't notice any other breakfast than the one they served in the breakfast room. We would consider a smaller breakfast but it seems many hotels in Portugal amd Spain serve only one type , not any "light" breakfast.
