The best to enjoy Sintra and the only one to feel like royal. Rooms are huge and nicely decorated in antique style. Bottle of porto is waiting in the room:) Breakfasts served with porcelain and silver cutlery are of exceptional quality.

Beautiful hotel, comfortable room, good breakfast, friendly and helpful staff. The location is some distance from the centre of Sintra, 10-15 min walk, and on return walking uphill might be quite tiring for some people. The room rates are expensive, but the building and the rooms are well presented, so if one can afford- highly recommended

The staff are exceptional in their friendliness, efficiency and willingness to please and this, above all, made our stay so enjoyable. The spaciousness and grandeur of the hotel building cannot avoid impressing and its location close to the centre of Sintra is ideal. The food in the restaurant was excellent - the chef even cooked, especially, a dish I remembered from 35 years ago! With comfortable and large bedrooms with high quality linen on the beds it was a real treat to stay in this outstanding hotel.

I recently tried to make a reservation at the restaurant at Palácio de Seteais and was appalled by the service provided by their manager, Victor Lucas. Last month, I reached out to secure a booking for a specific date and was told it was too early to reserve and that I should contact them again two weeks in advance.
When it was time to reserve, I contacted Victor Lucas directly, but he never replied. I then contacted the restaurant, only to be informed by Victor Lucas that my reservation could not be accommodated, without any explanation as to why. I tried to understand the situation and asked for an alternative date I could reserve, but I never received a response from Victor Lucas again.
This level of unprofessionalism and complete lack of communication is utterly unacceptable. I strongly advise against dining at the restaurant at Palácio de Seteais, especially under the management of Victor Lucas. Save yourself the frustration and choose a venue with more reliable and respectful customer service.

I give this hotel only 2 stars because we didn't find it at all worth the high prices. We chose this hotel based on the descriptions of he grounds and the historic building. We were willing to pay the price, which was higher than the other 5-star hotels we stayed at in other cities in Portugal, because we thought it would be special and worth the higher price. But we found the staff stiff and unwelcoming and our room not what we expected. We had booked a superior room, but our room was small and had an old-fashioned double bed that was so small we could barely sleep in it. The location is very inconvenient. You have to walk down difficult walkways to get anywhere from the hotel and Uber drivers have a hard time getting there. When we were leaving they almost didn't let our Uber driver in, expecting us to drag our suitcases down to the main road, but he somehow convinced then to let him drive up. The first night we walked into town and ate at an excellent restaurant. But, given how difficult it is to get into town, we decided to eat at the hotel restaurant the second night. There was a wedding at the hotel that evening, which apparently occupied the staff so much that they were slow and inattentive in the dining room. The meal was expensive and the food was only average. I recommend you stay somewhere else.

If you are considering staying overnight in Sintra, look no further than this hotel. It may be a bit more expensive than others in the area, but it’s worth every cent. The service level well exceeds those of any five star hotel, and the location is perfect for walking to most of the sites in Sintra. The property is well maintained and the history of the property adds ambience. Breakfast was outstanding offering something for everyone. Our only regret was that we did not “discover” the French Toast sooner. It was one of THE most memorable dishes we ever had: it’s like eating “sweet air”. Definitely worth every single calorie and carb! Thank you to everyone at the Tivoli for a memorable stay.

The hotel lives up to its palacio name. There are several beautifully decorated shared spaces to be enjoyed throughout the day : a cosy and elegant games room (with board games provided), a grand sitting room with a spectacular mural and ceiling, a winter terrace etc. The rooms are well maintained. A second internal door providing a small vestibule to further isolate from the corridor noises is very clever. The discreet bathroom night light is also a plus. Breakfast (buffet + special items ordered) is varied and delicious - we tried everything from eggs benedict to sweet waffles and everything was cooked to perfection and served swiftly. It is served in a beautiful dining room flooded with natural light. Staff is very pleasant, polite and respectful, without being obsequious. Peacocks and peahens are kept on the grounds. We were never disturbed in the morning by their cries - it could be because they are kept a bit further during the night ? or it could be that we were lucky. The hotel is well situated, a reasonably short hilly walk away from the town centre. The only negative point would be the unheated outdoor pool : unless you enjoy freezing dips, there is no pool to speak of before summer. In short, we had a delightful stay and would come back with pleasure.

Perfectly located close to the best attractions of Sintra , this gorgeous palace certainly transports you to a bygone era of hospitality and attention to details , all thanks to the extremely hands on general manager Graziela and her fabulous team . This is a super well kept historical property and the specials touches around the entire hotel makes you immediately fell at home . Wow ! What can I say . Thank you all at Palácio dos Setais for such an incredible stay. I will certainly return but , next time I must stay for longer .

The hotel used to be a palace and reflects the now faded grandeur of the past. The service was second to none. On the less positive side a) the room was tiny (room 17) and the double bed was very small. 4’6” at a guess. On the plus we had a bath. There was no balcony or terrace so the beautiful view from the little window was hard to appreciate when you are in the room. b) the pool was empty. So it certainly didn’t look like the beautiful pictures we had seen on the website c) the evening dining was surrounded by plastic awnings which put us off dining in the hotel. Morning breakfast was very good but all indoors. There didn’t appear to be a lovely terrace area with great views to enjoy the outside of the hotel. The hotel is very quiet so this is a positive and only 15 minutes (very hilly) and picturesque walk from bustling Sintra central with many restuarants and bars. Given how beautiful Sintra is and that it was spring time, we would have enjoyed more opportunity to enjoy outside space and beautiful views than this hotel offered. But we were well very looked after.

We are thrilled with our stay at Tivoli Palacio in Sintra. We arrived on a Saturday and enjoyed a lovely meal in the dining room with fresh and expertly prepared food and a beautiful plating. The Sunday morning breakfast buffet was outstanding and one of the most beautiful presentations that we have seen anywhere. The fresh honeycomb was a real showstopper. We should have stayed 2 or 3 nights as there is too much to do in Sintra. The ladies at Guest Services were exceptional. The genuine warmth and sincere friendliness made us feel so welcome. All staff were top-notch and assisted us with an early taxi to the Sintra Palace and then held our luggage until our return. We do recommend that you take care to look for the hotel signs when you are less than 3 metres away, because many streets are 1-way and narrow. Definitely recommend staying in this piece of history!
