Lawrence's is like Sintra - quirky, romantic & a time warp. It's not a luxury hotel but a charming place for a romantic visitor with a view over woods, a vast eucalyptus & distant waterfall. The bedroom had a perfect double bed 1.60 metres wide, creaking beautifully polished floorboards, small TV, super balcony/terrace ( ask for Tradition Room), bathroom OK...

Me and my husband book a night in this hotel for a friend's birthday party. The experience was truly amazing. The hotel is beautiful, in its old-fashioned way, but it has a perfect fit with Sintra. Sintra it's one of the most romantic place in Portugal, and Lawrence's truly delivers that experience. Our room, had a beautiful balcony with windows...

We stayed at Lawrence's for 2 nights during the peak of summer season. It was a splurge, and I had debated cancelling and finding a less expensive place to fit all of us, but I am so glad we missed the cancel deadline and ended up at Lawrence's. It's an old building with 17 rooms throughout and several common sitting...

We went here and stayed for a week. it,s really fabulous. You enter from the road but when you walk through to the back you are perched on the edge of the hillside and feel you're up in the trees. Every room is a suite. This hotel is one of few still standing after the big earthquakeThe restaurant is five...

We stayed a week beginning 16th of September and requested a valley view room with balcony. I can't understand some reviews because our beds and pillows were very comfortable, the room larger than average, complete with toiletries and hairdryer. The manager and staff were unfailingly helpful, especially as we had luggage that hadn't arrived. They made phone calls for us...

If you like the idea of a traditional (as in ‘old-fashioned’) hotel then you probably won’t be disappointed. Yes, some might feel it is in need of modernising, but others will feel that would spoil it. Check out the detail of what the various reviewers say, and make your mind up before booking. The first room we were offered was...

I've stayed at this hotel several times and this was the first disappointment. First, the room was not a superior double, the bathroom Had mold on the ceiling, there were no bathroom amenities (shampoo, bath gel, etc) . The room was so tight we had to walk around our luggage. You can see that the building is not being maintained....

We stayed at the Lawrence for an unfortunate 5 nights and had so many problems there! Firstly, the hotel only has two free parking spots for all of its guests, their parking garage cots 20 euro per night. We had a rental car and only got one of the hotel's free spots 50% of the time, and spent up to...

This is a very pretty hotel, with excellent accomodations, and a great breakfast included with board. The Hotel also has a very good restaurant and is well situated, within walking distance of the National Palace and on the Bus route to The Pena and Moorish palaces. All of the Palaces are a must see. The Hotel is reasonably priced and...

Lovely end to our Holiday in Portugal. Dinner here was perfect, lovely food, good wine list , very friendly and efficient staff. Probably our best dinner in three weeks in Portugal. The duck main was memorable and of the desserts the Chocolate cake was the winner.
