but the highest point was their breakfast......

but I have never seen a such a varied food items
especially this was first time in Europe I got hot vegetarian breakfast items which I didn't found anywhere else
I will strongly recommend for families as well as single one to stay at this hotel

Pousada Palacio do Queluz is a warm, well appointed hotel in the heart of many Queluz historical tourist sites. Many cafes and restaurants are within walking distance plus free parking at the hotel is a win-win. The check in and check out were quickly and efficiently completed. The front desk staff were all friendly, informative, helpful and professional. The rooms are spacious and nicely furnished. Mini fridge, safe, complimentary water provided. Chocolates were left at turndown services. The rooms and hotel were impeccable. The buffet breakfast was excellent and well varied. The breakfast staff was attentive and quick to replenish all breakfast items. Fresh fruits, yogurt, cereals, eggs, sausage, bacon, variety of cold cuts, breads, crackers cheese and a variety of pastries were avaible for your choosing. I highly recommend the Pousada Palacio do Queluz for solo, couple, family and business travelers.

Queluz, the suburb of Lisbon is quite a distance from downtown and not easy to access on transit. With a car, it's a nice location, closer to Sintra and points west. The hotel itself is small and cozy and across from a former palace (in a matching style). Breakfast is in a bright well appointed room with the standard selection of scrambled eggs, cold cuts, cheese, cereals and yoghurt. The cakes were a pleasant and decadent surprise. Really tasty! Our room did not have a mini-fridge but Joao helped get us a bucket of ice for beer and wine. Nearby are a few restaurants and I can fully recommend the Buona Serra pizza.

Pestana guarantees that any Pousada stay will be on a high standard. This small property is part of the palace area of Queluz which makes it interesting in general.
In our case it was also affordabel (double 75€ incl. 2€+2€ city tax breakfast always included in all Pousadas), however the decor is from 2000 or so, nothing freaky here - at least not for younger folks (below 40). the usual rates around 150€ are by far too much in my eyes.
All 26 rooms are in upper level (Standard ones do face the cobbed road but no noise hearable), beds in winter with down feathers which is nice! However the place is missing a Sauna or indoor pool to make it at least a bit luxury.
Update needed soon to increase the rates to 250€?

Dear Mr. Joe, We were delighted to hear that your recent stay at Pousada Queluz was delightful and that you thoroughly enjoyed your stay. Our team would like to thank you for your very kind feedback. We received your comments, which we appreciate and deserve our best attention. The Pousada de Queluz is located in a historic building in which we cannot carry out works that alter the aesthetics or size. Therefore, we cannot build a sauna or swimming pool, whether indoor or outdoor. On the lower floor, in addition to the reception, bar and breakfast room, we have 8 rooms of various types (standard, family and superior). On the first floor, the remaining 18 rooms, of all types, including 2 suites. Being an 18th century building, all the decoration and furniture tends to be allusive to the time, with characteristics of the classic style. Charm and comfort are the basis for a unique and special stay, combined with the art of welcoming from our entire team. Many thanks for choosing Pousada Queluz for your holiday. We look forward to hosting you again soon at our Pousada. Kind regards, The Team at Pousada Queluz

My wife and I were extremely disappointed with this hotel. We booked it through Newmarket Holidays as part of their “Pousadas of Portugal” and this was the poorest of the three we stayed in.
The brochure quotes Newmarket Holiday’s Product Manager saying this is one of his/her favourite hotels in Europe. The quote goes on to say, and I quote, “As it’s situated close to the Royal Palace, you’ll feel like royalty with its landscaped gardens and impeccable service.” The hotel is in fact situated on a public car park with camper vans and large rubbish bins as the view from the hotel windows. There is no outside area for hotel guests and to enter the Royal Palace gardens there is a charge of 10 euros!
The hotel does not have a restaurant and any near by are few and far between. Also the bar in the hotel was manned by the reception staff and the service was poor particularly if they had guests registering or asking questions of them.
I would not recommend this hotel or the location, it was the most disappointing start to our holiday.

Bar space and seating areas very weak. There are mansard-style rooms, low ceilings, small and with tiny windows...be careful when booking. They will have to improve, as the price is not justified. I know several Inns. This is one of the worst.

Positive: + extremely kind and helpful staff at the front desk + room was in good condition, nothing was too old. Most important to us: the beds were large enough and comfortable. It was also quiet as long as one remembers to close the "inner doors of the windows". + there is plenty of parking space available if needed.
Neutral: * breakfast was ok. Maybe a bit too much "sweet stuff" for Scandinavian taste * the hotel does not offer pool, gym, good restaurant or other such services.
Negative: - if one does not give extra value to the closeness of the Palace opposite the hotel, the location is not that good. It is pretty far away from Lisbon downtown and there is not much to see in the neighbourhood. Also, after a couple of days all the close-by restaurants have been tested and those are not that brilliant.

This is a rather elegant Pousada which is managed by the Pestana Hotel chain. Checking in at Reception was painless and swift. The staff generally were pleasant and friendly.
Our bedroom was on the ground floor overlooking the car park. We needed to keep the windows closed for security and the curtains closed for privacy.
The bedroom was pleasantly furnished and in good condition. The bed was king size and very comfy. There was plenty of hanging space for clothing
The size of the room left very little space to conveniently store suitcases.
The room was equipped with a refrigerator but no mini bar. There was also a television which as far as I could tell only had Portuguese programs. I could not find any English language programs. This did not really a problem because I was staying at this hotel for a limited time and did not want to watch TV.
The bathroom was en suite with both a bath and a shower. The bath was useless because it did not have a bath plug and the hotel staff were unable to find a bath plug for me.
There was plenty of tepid warm water for washing. However you need to have patience to have hot water. Hot water took a lifetime before it reached our room Our bedroom must have been some distance from the boiler because other guests did not suffer the same problem. A lot of water was wasted while waiting for the hot water. This was not a good way to “Save the Planet” as instructed by a sign / notice on display in the bathroom from the hotel management.
The plug in the wash hand basin did not work properly. As you will realise having a wash in this hotel was a bit of an ordeal. Buffet breakfast had lots to chose from with a choice hot and cold dishes. The Lounge bar is comfortable and pleasantly furnished.
Apart from the lack of bath plugs, the hotel is in good condition and decorative order.

Authentic and warm welcome. Concept of service and availability as it should be. With respect for the profession, the establishment and the client. The employee who checked us in in a very professional manner was the same one who prepared two gin and tonics for us, always with the same professionalism, the same sympathy and, above all, with a smile. Cleanliness of the spacious, impeccable room. The breakfast buffet was in harmony with the entire establishment: complete! We would have liked to extend our stay but...it was full. Excellent value for money. Bravo

The hotel is ok, but not above average. Breakfast is good with many things to choose from. A lot of cakes and fresh fruit.
The building is beautiful outside, but the interior is not at all what I expected. It is not like the pictures, that shows a magnificent breakfast and dining room. There were no restaurant and breakfast was in a small ordinary room. The bar was supposed to be handled by the receptionist, but he was too busy so I gave up, when trying to get a cup of tea.
When I asked the receptionist about the restaurant and breakfast room from the pictures, I was just told that it had changed.
The location is quite far from the center of Lisboa, about 20-30 minutes by car. We had difficulty finding it, because the GPS took us to a place closer to town. The location is just opposite the National Palace in the suburb Queluz. (It is not a part of the actual palace).

Dear Sillej, Thank you for taking the time to provide us with your feedback on your experience at Pousada Palácio de Queluz. Your opinion is crucial for us to improve how we work. We would like to sincerely apologize for not fully meeting your expectations and for any inconvenience this may have caused. After reading your comments, which deserved our best attention, we would like to inform you that the Pousada is part of the National Palace of Queluz, although physically separated from the main building, as it was initially the accommodation for the royal guard. Our restaurant stopped operating as such and became a banquet space for groups only. Our breakfasts have been served in the same room since we opened as a Pousada, we have never served breakfast in any other space other than the one we currently use. Being a historic building we have limitations in terms of changes to the structure, so we only have to use the existing space, and it is not possible to increase or make any other structural changes. We regret that we were unable to respond to your request within the desired time frame during your visit to our bar. Our apologies for any inconvenience caused. We would like to thank you for staying at Pousada Palácio de Queluz. We hope this experience has not tarnished your impression of our hotel permanently. We would be delighted to change it during your next stay. Kindest regards, Pousada de Queluz Team

Hi, We booked our taxi through the hotel. The driver was waiting for us when we landed and picked up our luggage. He had parked in a very convenient location in the indoor parking garage. The fare was 40 Euros I think. Maybe it was 45 Euros, I don't remember. It was not 50 Euros.
This was a very nice car. Immaculate in fact.
Coming back to the airport from the same hotel we paid 10-12 Euros including a tip. The car and driver were good. He off-loaded us at a very advantageous place for getting into the airport; we are grateful for all of that.
This was our very first time to Lisbon airport. Next time it might not cost us so much to get to the hotel from the airport. I don't know that either.
Likely you could just get a taxi from the line-up outside the Arrivals; or wait with your belongings at the Departures entrance and hope to get a taxi departing the airport. It would be a gamble of course.
Maybe just calling the Reception at the hotel and asking for a suggestion of a cheaper fare. Maybe ask them to arrange a round trip taxi originating in Queluz might keep your cost lower than we encountered.
Best of luck with it!
Dear Guest,
Thank you for your contact.
To go to the Airport at bthat time you need about 1/2 hour, including time to return the rental car
Shouls you need further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact us
