Detailed Reviews
Excellent hotel built inside of what was once a 14th century stable, some aspects of which are still original (ceiling in the lobby etc.). The hotel is decorated to that period with replica furniture, while suits of armour, swords, pike staffs and shields decorate the corners and walls.
Our room was large and featured a four poster bed complete with bed curtains, comfortable pillows and quality bedding. It was a corner room so we had views of both the castle and the surrounding lands, as well as overlooking the terrace bar and pool. The bathroom was spacious as well and was well provisioned with loads of towels and quality bath products. Also the buffet breakfast included with our room was one of the best we had in 6 weeks travel.
We also found the staff to be really wonderful and very helpful, giving advice and recommendations for restaurants and things to do in the area. As we had arrived early, they stored our luggage for us and provided towels so that we could go use the pool and have a drink there while we waited.
The only "con" I can think of would be the "disney-ish" feel to it all which is exacerbated by the staff having to wear period like costumes while doing their jobs. Then again, much of Obidos has this feel to it. All in all, that is minor though and we would recommend this hotel to anyone for an excellent experience.

Very nice hotel in the land of Obidos. At was a bit challenging finding the hotel, as the narrow winding road up the hill made it difficult to judge exactly where to go. Fortunately they have a nice parking garage as parking is premium in this city. They have a medieval theme with suits of armor and the staff wore tunics with a royal emblem. We ate across the street at the top-ranked A Nova Casa de Ramiro, but you should make reservations in advance. Overall a good stay with a very nice room.

Definitely a quirky (but fun) place to stay, very conveniently just outside the walls in Obidos. The theme of the décor is medieval, and the staff dress in quasi-medieval costumes. The room key was very large, and a staff member came with us to show us how to unlock our door (it was not difficult, just a little quirky). The room itself was furnished with a canopy bed and various antique-looking pieces of furniture, but it had enough outlets that we could charge all the electronics. The bathroom was spacious and had a tub with shower. The hotel has several outdoor garden and pool spaces. On the lower terrace there is a pool that had two terrapins in it, and then up more steps there was a garden and even more steps to the swimming pool. Lovely views all around, and how I wish it had been warm enough in early May to get into the pool! The breakfast buffet was fairly similar to other hotels we stayed in in Portugal, but had as added attractions an orange cake and a chocolate cake and a plate of quince jelly.

Obidos is an essential stop if you travel to Portugal. It is a medieval village that seems to have come out of a history book. The hotel is decorated in medieval style, the employees themselves wear clothes from that time. Spectacular. Professional and very kind. Large, clean room with all comforts such as air conditioning, minibar, shower gel kit, 2 bottles of water offered... breakfast included with a very rich sweet and savory buffet. A real treat, you have to try it!

Hotel Real D'Obidos is located just a few feet from the old city walls on a quiet side street with free garage parking. The room was spotlessly clean and comfy and the hotel staff were uniformly friendly and helpful. Great place, would definitely recommend highly.

If you are looking for an authentic experience at an amazing location with an incredible staff then Hotel Real D'Obidos is the place for you. The view from our room of the castle was spectacular, especially at night when the castle is all in lights.
The staff at Hotel Real D'Obidos are very friendly and helpful and it was super nice to have parking. A walk up the hill to the area around the castle gives you access to many wonderful shops and restaurants.
The breakfast was excellent as was the cleanness of the rooms. It was so very welcoming and comfortable and we highly recommend staying here.

The hotel is old but that is the charm. The rooms are comfortable and the location is perfect, only a few minutes walk to any part of the old, walled city. Beds are a little hard but that seems to be typical of Portugal. The hotel has an attached free garage which is a major advantage in this very small, narrow street city. Breakfast was excellent and the staff was extremely friendly and helpful.

When you get the room key you immediately know you are in a unique place. Hall lights automatically come on as you walk. Old but new. Great breakfast. Great staff willing to help. Just outside the Obidos wall; it is perfect: it is memorable. Highly recommend 👍

We stayed two nights in this hotel furnished in perfect medieval style, complete with helmets, armour, swords and shields displayed almost everywhere. The breakfast is very varied, both the savory and sweet parts. There is also a swimming pool on the hotel terrace.

This hotel is strange. The medieval decor is bizarre and dated. There was a dank unpleasant smell throughout, but it was particularly bad in our room. There is piped medieval music in all public areas. However it was clean and done of the staff were helpful and pleasant.

Dear Christy, it depends of the clothes you need to wash. But you have that information on the Directory Services Book of the Hotel or at the Room.
Hello! Thank you for your contact. We can not guarantee you a place since the parking spaces we provide are limited and are occupied on a first-come, first-served basis. Even so, we suggest that you give us this indication at the time of booking or that you directly telephone our services to try to secure a place. Thank you.
Small enough for a day trip. However, we stayed two nights, enjoyed the town, dining and just relaxing for a while during three very busy weeks in Portugal.
This property is outside of the walled city so tour pickup should not be an issue. We were there in Sept. last year.
