A pending candidate to become a World Heritage Site, Lisbon's downtown (the "Baixa Pombalina", or simply "Baixa") is a perfect example of anti-earthquake construction, having been rebuilt following the 1755 earthquake by the famous Marquês de Pombal (hence its name). Its offer is vast: restaurants and cafes in Rossio and Restauradores, outlets and shops in the Áurea, Augusta, Prata and other famous streets, the imponent Praça do Comércio and its Arch, the luxury shops along the Avenida da Liberdade, this is the beating heart of the city center. The Baixa also grants easy access to trains leading to Sintra, the trams that go around the Castle hill, old neighborhoods or even take you to Belém, and Lisbon's traditional restaurants and cafes. Considering a visit to the Fashion and Design Museum (free entrance) and don't forget to try the famous liquor, "ginjinha"!

We stayed in 1a which is a one bedroom apartment facing the road although looking onto derelict buildings. Our 4 year old enjoyed watching the trams pass by the window but be aware it is noisy if you are a light sleeper. Our neighbour also played loud music but that could have

The location of this apartment is good. We stayed here for a couple of nights in a 2 bedroom. The place not great but its also not bad. Its a bit dark. It definitely needs a bit more lighting. There is also no full length mirror in the whole apartment. Don’t even try to use the

Management has thought of everything we might need to ensure our comfort, ease and enjoyment. We LOVED this serviced studio apartment in an old but refurbished building that maintains it's original character. Fabulous location steps from the heart of the buzz of the old town

That's the best way to travel, a serviced apartment. It gave us the flexible to sleep in and cook as we required of we needed to. We loved our little apartment. Great time in our lives. Will definitely go back. Baixa is very central and it was easy to get around.

Do you have a lift in the building?
Yes there was a washer/dry. It's a door code so they will email it to you several days before you arrive. I would suggest you take a pic of the doors codes of the email. That way they are always with you but also write on piece of paper and keep in wallet or purse in case phone goes dead why you are out and about Anway... No keys needed. So leaving and arriving was not an issue for me. I arrived at 1am and got right in with door codes one for front door and a different one for your apartment. It's very nice apartment very clean. I used viator tours. I did everything online so not sure if they are near. There is also free wifi in room.

"5A on the top floor is quieter"
"Buy your wine to the left of the entrance on the opposite corner."
"Try the top floor so you don't have noise from your neighbors above you when they talk"
"See end of review above for Studio/apartment options. The whole place was really quiet, given that it's on the side of a busy street."
"Higher up takes you further away from the traffic noise, and our upper apartment (4B) had a small balcony"
