I've probably spent over 100 nights in hostels and this is the cleanest hostel ever. It is spotless, including the shared bathrooms. It also has style and artistic elements, and nice interior design. Staff is also super helpful. Doing the Sinatra tour they offer is a must, for 40 euros you get transportation, an awesome guide, stops on the way,... More

This is a fantastic hostel, we'll run and clean. Prepare to sweat ya nuts off at night though with no aircon the place cooks in the dorms! The free breakfast is really good - nice juices, crepes, bread rolls and jam. We hired the bikes which were really good as well. Enjoyed listening to the old vinyls one night in... More

It was my very first time in lisbon and I expected a lot of the city and accomodation. The hostel has large rooms and are really clean. There showers and restrooms are better then in normal hostels I know. Furthermore staff is friendly and helpfully. You can see that they love their job and also can assist you when there... More

It’s a nice place to go with friends and a good choice to travel alone. You have different choices of which kind of room you what to stay. The rooms have all you need, and it’s clean. The decoration is really original everywhere, you can find art in the environment. It’s an open space really familiar; you have different living... More

Absolutely wonderfully centrally located, a block or two from the Metro, in the middle of all kinds of wonderful sites. Felt very safe and secure, there was always someone at the desk to help and answer questions. Very clean and well maintained and the showers were WONDERFUL after two weeks of weak boat water pressure!

Staying in Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores

Neighborhood Profile
Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores
A pending candidate to become a World Heritage Site, Lisbon's downtown (the "Baixa Pombalina", or simply "Baixa") is a perfect example of anti-earthquake construction, having been rebuilt following the 1755 earthquake by the famous Marquês de Pombal (hence its name). Its offer is vast: restaurants and cafes in Rossio and Restauradores, outlets and shops in the Áurea, Augusta, Prata and other famous streets, the imponent Praça do Comércio and its Arch, the luxury shops along the Avenida da Liberdade, this is the beating heart of the city center. The Baixa also grants easy access to trains leading to Sintra, the trams that go around the Castle hill, old neighborhoods or even take you to Belém, and Lisbon's traditional restaurants and cafes. Considering a visit to the Fashion and Design Museum (free entrance) and don't forget to try the famous liquor, "ginjinha"!

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
With supreme comfort, cleanliness, style and security, the multi-award-winning Lisbon Lounge Hostel is the perfect place to call home during your visit to our fantastic city. The LLH was the first hostel in Lisbon, opened in 2005 as a project by four Portuguese. From the beginning the concept was simple: to give backpackers a first-class Lisbon experience at budget prices. Through the years we have continued to improve our service, and we were recently voted the best Small Hostel in the World 2010 and 2011 by Hostelworld. Our services include free walking tours, free nightlife tours, bicycle rental, mini bar and free coffee and tea all day. For a low cost you can join other guests for our three-course hostel dinner, cooked by our talented Portuguese chef. We also offer cheap van tours (during summertime) to the romantic historical town of Sintra and the local beaches. Were located in the heart of Lisbon's historic Baixa district, the main tourist centre of the city. The hostel is just around the corner from the iconic Rua Augusta, a grand and beautiful mosaic-tiled pedestrian street capped by a colossal arch. A short stroll will also take you to the charming suburb of Alfama, the oldest part of Lisbon and the home of Fado, the music of Portugal. At night you can walk to the famous Bairro Alto, a labyrinth of bars and street parties. All forms of public transport, including the airport shuttle and the Cascais beach train line, are within very short walking distance of our hostel. With so much on offer, you will have everything you need to have a comfortable, memorable and fun stay in Lisbon. We look forward to welcoming you to the city we love. ... more   less
