Great for walkers

Check in late - I arrived at the hotel at 5:00 p.m. and could only enter the room at 6:30 p.m.
Wrong room - I had booked a Deluxe room with large windows, with good brightness and upper view, 2nd floor and put me on 1st floor in a suite without brightness and only with a very small window. In addition, when entering the room, it was cold and the air conditioning didn’t work because it wasn’t hot.
When I complained to give me the correct room, only the third attempt was that I was able to enter the room I had booked.
Then they gave me room 210, however, the air conditioning from the room on the second floor, didn't work, because it wasn't hot either. My stay was during the month of December, then it was very cold.
The third attempt gave me room 208, and in that room the air conditioning worked a little better, however the temperature in the hallways was warmer than in the room.
After a tiring plane trip, there is so much difficulty in checking in, not worthy of a 5-star hotel.
All the pillows were sinking, so they weren't very comfortable.
There is no place to hang the bath towels near the shower. The only place where you can hang the bath towels is in another compartment, where the toilet and bidet are located, so it is not functional.
Very good breakfast. Friendly staff. Very good restaurant. SPA Excellent WiFi. Comfortable bed, except the pillows Very good shower. Comfortable room if the air conditioning works.
Central location - close to the marina, tower of Bethlehem, restaurants and Pingo Doce. Excellent room temperature in the hotel corridors

We spent another three nights at PALACIO DO GOVERNADOR as part of a cruise with EUROPA 2. The junior suite was excellent and very modern and spacious. The location to the side street to the Torre de Belem was not top from the viewpoint, but very quiet. Directly in front of the hotel the tram runs to the city center, but we never found it annoying. The hotel itself has many beautiful rooms with history (also a former chapel is located in the reception) as well as a large spa area that leaves nothing to be desired; a beautiful outdoor pool as well as a very large indoor pool and several saunas. Breakfast offers everything your heart desires and nothing was missing. The dinner took some getting used to as they were set up for Korean cuisine (not quite the perfect dinner for us). Also noteworthy is the extremely friendly and courteous service of the employees. Conclusion: it is not for nothing that the hotel belongs to the exclusive group of "Small Luxury Leading Hotels of the world". Number one for us when we get back to Lisbon.

Sublime, excellent, magnificent 🤩 From a location, welcome, service, comfort, catering point of view, everything was perfect. We stayed there from Friday April 21 to Sunday April 23, the day before leaving for a splendid cruise from Lisbon.
So yes, indeed there is noise, the railway, there is also the tram, on one side and the other of the hotel…., but we knew it, there was no bad surprise and then we didn't come here to do a sleep cure, but take advantage of Lisbon and the proximity of the hotel to the center, barely 10 minutes by tram to get to Cais do Sodre station, nothing to say !!
We slept very, very well and above all, when we arrived on Friday evening, we were shown our room, my god it is splendid, enormous with a grandiose cathedral ceiling 👍👍👍 (View the photo)
The breakfast was delicious, the setting by the pool, the sun rising over the coffee, what could be better 🤩
I will go back without hesitation!
And then to relieve the noise, you can equip yourself with earplugs.
Sincerely

Had a very disappointing stay at Palacio do Governador, the location is a good 25 minutes outside central Lisbon but the tram ride is reliable and stops outside. The hotel is more of a corporate hotel then a tourist hotel with lots of events in the public areas and many areas are often closed off to staying guest including the bar while we were there! The hotel mentions that their rooms are soundproofed which they are not and if you get a room with 'a view' the music that they leave on around the pool can be heard quite clearly. Due to a corporate party we could hear the music and base in our room and it was still going at 1am, The pool area is unmanaged and messy to a point someone had to go to reception to ask for towels and ask for the area to be cleaned. Service at the pool was non-existent and if anyone managed to order and receive a drink they received a round of applause. Breakfast as mention in a number of reviews is chaotic and food had often run out and took ages for them to replace it. Also the lifts were often out of order. The hotel had the sense that no one is in charge and the staff were just left to get on with it. It lacked any great customer service and certainly was not worthy of either a five star rating or the price they charged . It was our first time to Lisbon and we wished we had researched more carefully for a better and more central hotel. I would not stay here again. We did highlight our issues and were informed a manager was going to get in touch but I guess they are still trying to find them!

I booked a stay at this hotel primarily due to its proximity to the sailing facilities and sailing schools. In the middle of my stay there was a techno music festival in the park in front of the hotel. The hotel already has very poor sound proofing. You can hear the train traveling outside which is disturbing but bearable because its not continuous. At no time did the hotel let us know or mention that on entire day of my 4 day visit would be completely ruined due to a music festival right outside the hotel. They advertise themselves as a 5 star establishment. When I reached out to the front desk at first they told me there is nothing they can do. I insisted that they can at least move me to the back of the hotel. After checking with their manager their response was that they were full and unable to move me, Insisted this was entirely out of their control and nothing they could do about it and they think/hope that the festival would end by 10 pm!!!! Even average hotels let guests know if there are going to be any noise/construction issues. Clearly the hotel was aware and made no mention of this or posted this on their website. The only reason I am not placing one star here is that most of the front desk staff were very kind. I asked the front desk to inform their manager about how unhappy I am but the answer was that the manager was aware, they are sorry, and nothing they could have done about it or could do about it. This is not a five star establishment. I would have expected more from a motel.

Dear Mr. Moise Danielpour, Thank you for taking the time to provide us with your feedback on your experience at Palacio do Governador Lisbon Hotel & SPA. Your opinion is crucial for us to improve our services. We sincerely apologize for not fully meeting your expectations and for any inconvenience this may have caused. Although the room type you booked usually receives positive reviews due to recent upgrades and the amazing view of the river, we regret that your experience was not satisfactory. We have shared your comments with our team to ensure improvements are made, so we can be more efficient in addressing our clients' issues. We hope you appreciated the rebate applied to your bill to minimize the discomfort caused by an external event organized by the city council. We hope to welcome you again soon. Beautiful decoration. Very poorly soundproofed hotel. Lots of defects, broken air conditioning, average finishes. Broken power outlet..... overpriced restaurant for modern cuisine!!! Nothing on the plate and you are charged for the cover and two slices of bread €5 for a 75 cl bottle of water €8. This establishment is not a 5 star

I did enjoy this hotel, but it was clearly overpriced. The room was good, and large, and had a view of the Tower of Belem if you leaned a bit, but the really dirty carpets were an issue. Common rooms nice but always crowded with old American tourists. Location excellent of course; one knows where this is, and tram and bus stops indeed across the street. Breakfast was fine without being outstanding; the breakfast staff, especially the headwaiter, unfriendly and unprofessional – very different from the rest such as reception and housemaids. The indoor pool is a magnificent piece of architecture, very large, very modern, underground – not very functionally arranged perhaps, and indeed that one has to wear a cap and if one doesn’t have one needs to purchase it for a few € seems needlessly greedy. The outdoor pool is more a hangout space than for swimming, and being close to the restaurant/bar is not an advantage. Hotel price algorithms are not touchable by humans anymore, but my normal if spacious room jumped, for one night, up from high 100s to 400s, with no reason or warning, and in the end, that’s not good. In the end, this was designed as a five-star hotel but it is run as a four-star in too many respects. Overall, a good stay but likely not one to be repeated.

The hotel was excellent and staff great. Nice quiet location and next to some major attractions such as the torre de belem. It is slightly beyond walking distance from downtown and the major tourist attractions but Uber is very affordable. There are many good local restaurants in the vicinity of the hotel.

The Hotel has all the Facilities of a Five Star Hotel but I am afraid it is being let down by the staff. There is a trend of over promising and under delivering and although the staff are very friendly, helpful and courteous they are generally quite young and inexperienced. According to the tourist board the largest number of visitors to Lisbon are English speaking. My Portuguese is not great but it is better than some of the staffs English. Our first encounter with breakfast was a nightmare, We were kindly lead to a table and then left, because we could not see any buffet we presumed it was a waiter service, only to find the buffet breakfast was in another area which had not been pointed out to us. My wife asked for Pepper as there were no condiments in sight, she was acknowledged but the Pepper never arrived the same result occurred when Tea was requested. In the end we gave up an went out. The room was nice although working out how the lights worked was a challenge. The view from the room was not great but it didn't matter much because the windows were filthy on the outside, I know its a high building but other hotels manager to have clean windows.

A short taxi ride from downtown Lisbon and neighbouring Belem tower and Jeronimo monastery , one can find the elegant Palacio do Governador , member of the Great Hotels of the World . Restored to it’s former glory with an eye for detail and exquisite taste ( signed interior designer Nini ), this 5 star property features well equiped but small guestrooms , beautiful pools with sunbeds , spa facilities and professional service . Pool areas are never crowded and a heaven off peace ( when trains do not pass by ). Quality of bedding is excellent as well as the rainshower waterpressure , so rejuvenating . Breakfast is enjoyed al fresco and supervised by Mr Paul Silva who is an amazing host .He lifted our stay to the next level. Only negative , the orange juice is not freshly squeezed but canned , unfortunate for a 5 star property in a country where oranges are abundand . Definetely our hotel of choice when returning to beautiful Lisbon !

Hello, yes, they have a gym, I didn't have time to use it, used the sauna instead, but I saw some machines there, thread mill, cross trainer, walking board, cycling, I think, stuff like that...
