Alecrim ao Chiado is a charming small hotel with 10 large rooms and suites. The renovation was made during 2015 and it has kept the original architecture of the 18th century. The walls are covered with beautiful tiles and the stairs are large, very noble and all in stone. The rooms are all very big, very light and with large windows. The rooms from the first floor are all with balcony.

Absolutely loved our one night at this charming little boutique hotel. Wish we could have stayed longer but we only had one night in Lisbon before our flight back home. What we loved:
The room: So tastefully appointed! There’s a generously sized entry area, with a coat holder and a glass-doored wardrobe with hangers, shelves, robes and a safe. To the right was a beautiful bathroom with a double sink and large glass-walled shower. (Bonus: large wall-mounted refillable bottles of Ritual soaps and lotions.) To the left is a large bedroom and sitting area with a table and chairs in front of a mini balcony overlooking the lively street. Comfy bed, tasteful decor.
The location: In the heart of the Old Town, walkable to stunning historic squares and buildings, the waterfront, plus plenty of authentic spots to eat or sip cocktails and watch the world go by. (Only downside: it was lively on the Saturday night we were there, so if you’re a light sleeper, consider earplugs and/or a white noise app!)
The service: Low key but absolutely excellent. We were greeted at the door by a young man who checked us in, showed us how to use the entry access codes, and walked us upstairs to our room. When we mentioned we would sadly miss the free buffet breakfast due to our early flight, he arranged to have a tray sent up by 6 a.m. He apologized that it would be basic but we were delighted and grateful to feast on crackers and fresh jam, fresh fruit, and juice boxes, along with Nespresso coffee.

The Pension is perfectly located between 2 main areas to visit. It is located 5 minutes from a metro station (uphill) and 5 minutes from a train, tram and bus station (downhill). In addition, it is located a 12-minute walk from Rossio Station (train station that you will have to take if you leave to Sintra). The staff is very kind, very considerate. The Pension is beautifully decorated, the rooms are modern and perfectly clean. The breakfast comes from breakfast, with a choice, certainly correct but not incredible. In addition, the dining room is quite small and directly overlooks the small kitchen and staff plunge, so it is quite noisy. This remains an establishment to advise, on the whole.

We chose Alecrim do Chiado from the many Lisbon hotel both because of the location and the many excellent reviews. It was a wonderful decision. We arrived in Lisbon after an exhausting three weeks in Morocco. Renato greeted us warmly in very good English and we instantly relaxed. Our room was spacious, bright, well appointed, and comfortable, as were the bathrooms. Because both this room and our second room we were given after our return from a trip form Sintra were at the back of the hotel, they were away from the noise of the busy street. We especially appreciated the Nespresso machine in the room because we are early risers and most breakfasts were not served until after 8 am throughout our travels. The breakfast was just amazing! There was more variety than any other place we had stayed in our travels, far more that we could eat even though we tried. As perfect as Alecrim was, the helpfulness and enthusiasm of the staff surpassed our expectations. The manager, Claudia, not only suggested restaurants to us, but supplied special treats for us at breakfast, even arranging an almond cake for our last morning when she was not working. The rest of the staff was equally helpful, and we enjoyed sharing stories of their lives and ours with them. We will return to Portugal soon and most definitely stay at Alecrim do Chiado when in Lisbon.

Our party of 4 (2 couples) LOVED the Alecrim ao Chiado and were so sad to leave. This being our 1st trip to LIsbon, prior to arrival we sent many emails with questions and requests and the hotel consistently provided timely and helpful and clear responses. Being an historic building, there is no elevator but the staff generously assisted in carrying our luggage to/from our room. Our rooms faced the back of the hotel - When the windows and blinds were closed we did not hear any noise from outside (even though a lively restaurant is across the street). We appreciated having a stand up shower and plush bath towels. The breakfasts are Amazing - We still talk about the delicious fresh oj and cooked to order eggs along with tasty pastry assortment. The top prize goes to CLAUDIA who was so helpful and a joy at every interaction.

Alcerim Charming hotel, great location but impossible to sleep Hotel really pretty, very nice with excellent reception. The location is great close to metro and tram, viola barrio and other nearby attractions. As for breakfast, the squeezed fruit juice and fruit cocktail were excellent. However we arrived an hour before the end of the service and the buffet was almost empty. We asked for wholegrain bread or bread from the Cereals because they were only left with cores. The staff told us it was over... we could have understood if we had arrived 5 minutes before the end but it was not. We were embarrassed because we had to insist. Someone went to the bakery which is lovely. There was gluten bread if we ordered the day before which is a highlight. This boutique hotel is really cute but unfortunately in room 11 on the ground floor overlooking the street, despite double glazing and thick blinds (wood) there are endless noises coming from the street so impossible to sleep. It is perhaps better to take a superior room to not be bothered by nuisance and to have a brighter room. We asked to change rooms but it was impossible because the Pension was full. Many thanks to Claudia who despite our Non-Refundable Reservation allowed us to leave the Pension prematurelymemt and get refunded for the last night. It was difficult for me to write this 2-star review because the Pension even though it is very Nice and the staff adorable, we go to the Pension primarily to sleep what is impossible at home and I have to save you from sleeping badly.

A fabulous boutique hotel situated centrally for everything Lisbon has to offer. Our room was comfortable and airy and once the shutters were closed, very quiet despite being on a busy road. The breakfast was great with plenty of choice and attentive staff who were available to make eggs if required. The reception staff that we met really make this hotel very special. Each one one friendly and helpful. Would recommend highly.

Location was very good, room was spacious, comfortable and quiet. Breakfast was really excellent with personalized service and made-to-order eggs as well as delicious fruit and yogurt among other things. Hotel entrance is quite secure. All that is great but most of all it is the incredible staff that makes this hotel what it is. You could pay $1000 per night for a luxury hotel and not have a more gracious and caring staff provide such personal attention. Our flight to Lisbon arrived early in the morning. We went to the hotel with the hope that we could just drop off our luggage and go out for 6 or 7 hours until check-in. Instead Claudia invited us to the Hotel's breakfast and found us a comfortable space to rest until our room was ready. Ultimately we were able to check in hours early. Then Lara at the front desk asked us what we wanted to do in Lisbon and gave us many excellent suggestions. All the staff were just so caring and friendly. A great experience!

Everything was perfect. The staff were fantastic, particularly Claudia and Gonzalo who went above and beyond to make sure our stay was superb. When we arrived, in the rain, Claudia came out and helped us with our luggage and then got a towel and wiped our suitcases dry. We arrived early and lounged in the common area while they focused on getting our room ready. We really felt like we were their friends rather than guest in a hotel. The included breakfast was fantastic, everything you could imagine, buffet style PLUS made to order eggs. Our TV wasn't working when we arrived and within hours they had a repairman there to replace the cable box. Location is perfect...central to everything. Our room was huge and well equipped.

This hotel has a great location with staff that fully understand the meaning of customer service, friendly, efficient and willing to go the extra mile. The rooms have recently been nicely renovated while still respecting the cultural heritage. Breakfasts were great, with eggs cooked to order, fresh orange juice and fresh fruit.

It depends on the floor of your guest room. Ours was on the 2nd floor and we had to walk up two flights of stairs. There are no elevators at the property, but there are first floor / ground floor rooms available so I’d suggest calling or emailing the property to reserve ahead. Also note the breakfast is located below ground floor and requires narrow stairs. The property is so charming - we loved it. BUT, if you can’t do stairs I would choose elsewhere.
No pool, it's a boutique hotel in the middle of Lisbon. However, it's sister hotel, Cash Palmela in Setubal set in the middle of vine groves in the Arrabida Hills, has two pools, and offers an amazing stay in a charming five star hotel.
