Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores
A pending candidate to become a World Heritage Site, Lisbon's downtown (the "Baixa Pombalina", or simply "Baixa") is a perfect example of anti-earthquake construction, having been rebuilt following the 1755 earthquake by the famous Marquês de Pombal (hence its name). Its offer is vast: restaurants and cafes in Rossio and Restauradores, outlets and shops in the Áurea, Augusta, Prata and other famous streets, the imponent Praça do Comércio and its Arch, the luxury shops along the Avenida da Liberdade, this is the beating heart of the city center. The Baixa also grants easy access to trains leading to Sintra, the trams that go around the Castle hill, old neighborhoods or even take you to Belém, and Lisbon's traditional restaurants and cafes. Considering a visit to the Fashion and Design Museum (free entrance) and don't forget to try the famous liquor, "ginjinha"!

We searched for a well located, reasonably priced hotel for a few days break in Lisbon. The Lis Hotel was perfect. Better than we had hoped for. Our room was great and the staff was consistently friendly and helpful. A big thank you to the Lis!

Room was a bit on the small side but very comfortable. Excellent breakfast choice, cold and hot. The hotel is ideal for exploring Lisbon on foot and well located to pick up the tourist buses or the Metro.

The location is perfect with all downtown in walking distance. Many restaurants in neighborhood (tourist), Either the bed was king size XXL or the room small. Was quite irritating (Room 104) The bed left floor space in the room

My wife and I arrived here on Valentine’s Day for a three night stay. We took the Aerobus from Lisbon Airport to the Praça Figuera from where it’s a 100m walk to the hotel. Great location, just off the main tourist roads therefore nice and quiet but close to so many attractions.

Do all bedrooms have shower or do some just have bath tub?
We stayed twice in this hotel and had a shower and bath provided on both occasions. If you have a preference for either or both I suggest you e-mail or ring the hotel to clarify as the staff have always been extremely helpful.

We used taxi door to door €12.50 for 2 people and 2bags and 1case , on way back asked hotel to phone a taxi same cost ( maybe higher if traffic bad like any taxi as on a meter) the taxi queue was outside arrivals and took no longer than 5mins and was supervised by a police man so very efficient . There is a bus service but you will have to walk from square 5mins think cost €3-4 , so depends on luggage and mobility and budget .
