Casa do Barao is located at Lisbon in a peaceful street of Chiado and 400m from Bairro Alto, two of the most historical neighborhoods of Lisbon. This 18th century building was refurbished in 2014 preserving its old features and adding 12 comfortable and contemporary bedrooms. Ideally located to walk around Lisbon and a few meters from main transports, the House is perfect for just hanging out in the living room and library or in our private Garden, surrounded by nature.

I never written a review for somewhere I haven't stayed but the level of service dealing directly with this hotel compelled me to do so. We have had to change plans on a cancellable booking. I am sad not to be going as the speed of communication, the effort the hotel went to try

Located in the Chiado district near the heart of Lisbon, this small 12-room hotel makes an ideal home-base from which to explore the city. The building is historic but the rooms, while small, are modern, well-appointed and air-conditioned. There is a shared library, sunny

We stayed at Casa do Barao for a week in late March in the third floor suite. We were upgraded to the suite and it was lovely. The suite is spacious with a sitting room off the bedroom and a second sitting room off the terrace. A carafe of port was provided and refilled daily.

Is this hotel on a flat area or hill?
As reviewers have mentioned Lisbon is hilly, but it is worth the hills, it’s such a beautiful place & you can take your time to get to the top with so many places to eat, drink & see. They have plenty of accessibile transport, you can’t go wrong either choosing Casa do barao it’s wonderful.

Is there a lift at your hotel?
Good morning This is an old building without lift. We have 2 bedrooms on the ground floor and the social areas and garden. More bedrooms on the 1st and 2nd floor . The stairs are large and easy Kind regards from Lisboa Rui from Casa do Barão

My opinion: this is one of the quietest places you can find in Bairro Alto, even by having a room on the street side.
