This small pensione is superbly located close to the heart of Lisbon .... everything is within walking distance. The rooms and ensuite are clean and there is a small bar and lounge beside reception. They do not serve breakfast but there is a supermarket and many restaurants in close proximity. Free Wi-Fi is available in the lounge area.

Our room was facing away from the street so it was very quiet. The A/C made quite a bit of noise but if you didn't use it the room was quite peaceful. The wifi was slow and a bit unstable but it was there, and it was free. The room itself was dated and tired but clean and well maintained.... More

Upon arrival you are faced with a large flight of stairs to the first floor reception where the lift is also located. Guests need reasonable mobility. The whole hotel could do with a real makeover, it is just too tired. The room was quite large and the bathroom was just average. We did not have breakfast there, but the adjoining... More

Simple hotel with large rooms and bathrooms but just a bit tired. Good for what we needed and perfect location close to the main areas and within walking distance of everything. As others have mentioned, no lift until first floor with lots of steps and so-so breaky.

A bit small (more the hall than the room in reality... we got lucky and got a large room from wich you can see the castle), but welcoming hotel. Not suggested for people with mobility difficulties because the lift started from the first floor. It's very near the Baixa and Saint George castle and from there it's easy to reach... More

Not much to say about this hotel, it is run down, and needs a bit of work, I'm sure in its day it was quiet grande. The hotel is in close proximity to the central square and loads of tourist attractions, the hotel is well organised and the staff helpful.

Stayed here for 4 nights, very clean good size bathroom, warm room with a view to Castelo de San Jorge. Very friendly helpful reception staff even answering questions regarding hair dressers. We had one noisey night over a holiday weekend so all was forgiven. We went out each day for breakfast so cannot comment re breakfast. Squares and eating places... More

This place get a 4 for great location, it is close to everything. Nice staff in the reception. Rooms with thin walls. The breakfast was nothing special; bread and cakes, cheese and ham, cereal and yougurt. We recomend this place for what it is. Nice and simple.

The hotel has a really good location, in the city center and nearby the subway. We had a 4 person room and the room was of a good size, the shower didn't had a lot of power. The breakfast can be better, no good orange juice, just powder, coffee is so so, no fresh fruit, just out of a can,... More

Staying in Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores

Neighborhood Profile
Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores
A pending candidate to become a World Heritage Site, Lisbon's downtown (the "Baixa Pombalina", or simply "Baixa") is a perfect example of anti-earthquake construction, having been rebuilt following the 1755 earthquake by the famous Marquês de Pombal (hence its name). Its offer is vast: restaurants and cafes in Rossio and Restauradores, outlets and shops in the Áurea, Augusta, Prata and other famous streets, the imponent Praça do Comércio and its Arch, the luxury shops along the Avenida da Liberdade, this is the beating heart of the city center. The Baixa also grants easy access to trains leading to Sintra, the trams that go around the Castle hill, old neighborhoods or even take you to Belém, and Lisbon's traditional restaurants and cafes. Considering a visit to the Fashion and Design Museum (free entrance) and don't forget to try the famous liquor, "ginjinha"!
