This is the worst place ever. It wouldn't pass any health control. Everything is so dirty, specially the bathroom. We've found cockroaches more than once and the staff didn't even care. They must be used to it. The situation was so unpleasent that we only stayed for one night and we have payed for three. Don't go there!

The hostel is pretty simple but nice. You enter through a souvenir shop which proved to be no problem at all. The location is excellent, we could watch the life on the walking street from our balcony. Very good value for money. Service was excellent. There was one afternoon/night when the hostel had problem with water. The staff was friendly... More

This hostel is in an amazing location, but that's about it. You have to enter through a shop that sells souvenirs, and then upstairs the reception area also serves as the receptionist's bedroom at night - very awkward. The bathroom wasn't as bad as it looked, and the room was pretty large for the price (I stayed in a private... More

I am staying here for a couple of days at present. A dorm has 3 double bunk beds so quite congested and breakfast is not served.Howver, this Hostel locates at the main street and has a wonderful staff (a young lady). She is calm and more than kind. This Hostel has a good ventilation, and changes bed sheet, blanket sheets... More

I was here with my friends in July. The first thing about this hostel is attractive location-center of the city. Even if it was very hot ourside we could sleep without air condition. At time of staying the hostel was being repaired, so only two bathrooms (toilet and shower together) were on disposal. The hostel is clean, and staff was... More

Hostel is very good location. It's on the 1st floor and ntrance is through the souvenir shop.We stayed there in February so it's wasn't hot as it might be in summertime but windows are very old and it can be a bit cold because there is 1-2 cm of space around window frame.Bathrooms are nice and clean but they could put... If you are looking for low price (paid 45 euros/night for a double room) and good location, it is a good place to book a room, conditions are poor and not very clean, but they are seem to be doing their best. I used earplugs during the night because I had expected some noise from other rooms or outside the... More

Booked at this hostel for 2 nights, only stayed for one. Super cramped, hot, noisy, and unfriendly. Stayed in the 6 bed dorm. I have never seen three bunk beds packed so tightly together. You have to choose between having the window open to the noise of the street (which for me meant a potpourri of hammering, drunken yelling, and... More

I stayed for a two night stay in the City Center Hostel in Lisbon. This hostel offers both private (which I stayed in with a friend) and shared dormitory rooms. The price of the hostel is cheap considering its central location on the main strip in Lisbon, near train stations, shopping centres, restaurants, bars and restaurants! It was around 50euro... More

The hostel is in a great location and you can get around all the best places in and around Lisbon so easily. The room I stayed at with a friend was a double room and worked out great value to share (55 Euros a night for the two of us). The room was modern, clean and there were two bathrooms... More

Staying in Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores

Neighborhood Profile
Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores
A pending candidate to become a World Heritage Site, Lisbon's downtown (the "Baixa Pombalina", or simply "Baixa") is a perfect example of anti-earthquake construction, having been rebuilt following the 1755 earthquake by the famous Marquês de Pombal (hence its name). Its offer is vast: restaurants and cafes in Rossio and Restauradores, outlets and shops in the Áurea, Augusta, Prata and other famous streets, the imponent Praça do Comércio and its Arch, the luxury shops along the Avenida da Liberdade, this is the beating heart of the city center. The Baixa also grants easy access to trains leading to Sintra, the trams that go around the Castle hill, old neighborhoods or even take you to Belém, and Lisbon's traditional restaurants and cafes. Considering a visit to the Fashion and Design Museum (free entrance) and don't forget to try the famous liquor, "ginjinha"!
