This is a little oasis to retreat to while you stay in the bustling city of Lisbon. Not in the historical centre, but so well-connected on public transport, it is easy to get everywhere. There isn't the bustle of crowds of tourists. Carlos has created a wonderful apartment to stay in. Art is everywhere and makes every room a treat to be in. Our bedroom (room 2) was small but comfortable and had everything we needed. Sharing 2 big bathrooms between 5 rooms was no problem. Breakfast is perfect (thanks for getting our hot coffee just right, Carlos!) and sets you up for the day. The little garden is peaceful and relaxing. Such good value too. The rooms are at road level and we did notice the traffic noise as cars queued for the lights during rush hours - but there are shutters at the window and it was quiet at night, which is all that really matters. Carlos goes to a lot of trouble to make sure you have everything you need to make your stay comfortable and he recommended some lovely local places to eat. Staying at this B&B is a real treat!

Whatever Art was absolutely delightful! Comfortable room, spotlessly clean bathrooms, nice robe and slippers, and lovely spots to sit while eating breakfast. The food was plentiful, with freshly baked cakes every morning! And even though it was a bit away from the main tourist areas, it was very easy to reach by metro, and I even found the airport rides to be easy on public transit as the B&B is located a couple blocks from the station. The best part of my stay was the host Carlos. He greeted me with such warmth and kindness, and offered all sorts of nice gestures like a cup of tea with cookies when I arrived, and coordinating a day trip to Sintra, Cabo de Roca, and Cascais (which I never would have figured out on my own). Traveling as a young single woman is not always easy but people like Carlos make it all so easy, safe, and wonderful. If I visit again, I will definitely stay here.

Everything about this place is amazing. It's like being welcomed into someone's home rather than staying in a hotel - and I mean that in the best possible way. The welcome was wonderful, the building and rooms are beautiful and the common areas are perfect for hanging out and chatting to other guests. I only stayed one night but wished I could have stayed longer. I'll definitely be back.

Whatever Art B&B is a really beautiful B&B with a lot of charm. Carlos, the charming host, made us feel welcomed as friends of the house. The subway is just a few minute’s walk away and we enjoyed the quietness after our excursions to the buzzling town. Walking distance to nice local restaurants and bars. We strongly recommend Carlos and his B&B as a base camp for exploring Lisbon.

I was so happy to return to Whatever B&B for 4 nights after a very short visit in 2013. I have always wanted to come back to Lisbon to spend more time seeing the sights. What a wonderful city. Nothing had changed at Whatever. Still wonderful hospitality and a very comfortable stay. The peacocks are no longer there, however, which is a shame and even Carlos was sad that they are gone now. My room was so comfortable. The bed was lovely and the room was so dark that I slept very well. WiFi was good and worked very well. Everything is spotless and clean. Breakfast is generous and plentiful. Delicious Home-made jams. This B&B has everything you need and would expect. Carlos is the most friendly and generous host. It may be out from the town centre but is not far, and very easy access to buses, metro and regional trains. Carlos organised a fabulous 1-day itinerary for me to Sintra and Cascais. It was perfect. So much cheaper than a tour and I could run to my own schedule, staying longer or shorter times where I wanted. I enjoy using local transport. He also helped me find a food tour to join, which was excellent. It was like visiting an old friend. Warm and inviting and a home away from home. I know many visitors are regulars who keep returning. I can understand why. There are lovely places to eat in the area if you wish to stay local. Carlos can recommend several for you. There is also an amazing museum close by. Yes there is some building happening next door at the moment, but it was never a problem. They did not commence until 8am each week day. Thank you Carlos for a wonderful holiday. I’m sure I’ll return again some day.
