My sister and l really enjoyed our 4 night stay at the Golden Tram hostel. It was quiet, very clean ,comfy bunk beds ,nice bathrooms and fabulous breakfast. Great value for money and the central location perfect for walking everywhere. I would definitely recommend this hostel to young or older travelers on a budget.

Located in the city centre, close to metro and tramway stations. The room (10-bed dorm) was decent, my bed didn't have a wall socket near it or a lamp. Breakfast was OK. The employees are nice and helpful. A good place to stay for few days.

As I see - unfortunately only now - in the reviews I'm not the only one having this problem, and in the same room within a year! I had bed #414 and I had several insect bites in the hostel, and unfortunately I brought them home with me in my luggagae and clothes. It cost me here 25 EUR/room to...

I was staying at the Golden Tram 242 in the period 11 to 19 August. My wife and I. We stayed in a shared room. I had stayed in hostels before in Brazil and Edinburgh smoothly. Lovely hostel with extremely friendly and helpful staff. Picturesque elevator. If you want to party till 3 or 4 am I am sure it would be great. Music and shouting until 3:30, and an extremely loud bang frequently throughout the night. At first we thought it was someone jumping off a top bunk in the dorm above us, but it...

The hostel itself is nice, the decor and the beds are absolutely ok, and the breakfast included in the price give you a good start on a new day. However the place tends to be quite noisy, people are not really realizing that different ppl have different ideas of a holiday, and happily wake you up when tehy come home...

We stayed 5 nights in double ensuite. Everything went well: customer service was 24/7 and nice, and the hostel was peaceful enough. The cleaning at our room wasn't perfect, but at least we got fresh towels every day. Living room/kitchen/bar was well cleaned. There were a small refrigerator in our room and also breakfast (bread, cheese, ham, butter, jam, different...

Staying in Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores

Neighborhood Profile
Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores
A pending candidate to become a World Heritage Site, Lisbon's downtown (the "Baixa Pombalina", or simply "Baixa") is a perfect example of anti-earthquake construction, having been rebuilt following the 1755 earthquake by the famous Marquês de Pombal (hence its name). Its offer is vast: restaurants and cafes in Rossio and Restauradores, outlets and shops in the Áurea, Augusta, Prata and other famous streets, the imponent Praça do Comércio and its Arch, the luxury shops along the Avenida da Liberdade, this is the beating heart of the city center. The Baixa also grants easy access to trains leading to Sintra, the trams that go around the Castle hill, old neighborhoods or even take you to Belém, and Lisbon's traditional restaurants and cafes. Considering a visit to the Fashion and Design Museum (free entrance) and don't forget to try the famous liquor, "ginjinha"!
