This is an excellent hotel which defies its 2 star status. Very nice bedrooms and rooftop restaurant that doubles for breakfast in the morning and tapas location at night but with a fabulous view over the River Tejus. Tapas incidentally are excellent and the atmosphere was really nice. Staff extremely helpful and very keen to impart their extensive knowledge of... More

The location was great just by he Bairro Alto, on a ;quiet street and with a roof top restaurant with a beautiful view over the Tagus. The breakfast was delicious every day and the staff could not have been more helpful. They recommended great restaurants and places to visit and how to get around the city and nothing was too... Start with the positives! Good location, friendly staff, great views. Otherwise the hotel is just one more in a chain. The room was clean, but the bedlinen didn't fit properly. Breakfast was the most disappointing thing - terrible coffee, looked like the buffet had been there since the day before and we weren't offered any freshly cooked eggs like a... More

Based on tripadvisor reviews, we selected this hotel for a one night respite on our way back to the states. Very good choice. The rooms were European small, the bathrooms were very modern (a pleasant surprise) and the breakfast on the rooftop restaurant was excellent - a buffet with eggs cooked to order included in the room price. The view... More

I honestly don't know what I can add that has not already been said in the other excellent reviews! But, I will tell you that the building is an old perfume factory...so that's kind of cool. The staff is exceptional and will bend over backwards to make sure you are happy. Staffer Nadia told me on several occasions, "If you... More

Just like a lot of reviews have said, the rooms in Europe (Portugal included) seem to be smaller than we are used to the USA. Other than that, we could not have had a better experience. The staff were beyond accommodating and friendly. The room itself was great and it was very clean. The rooftop deck was a great addition... More

My boyfriend and I stayed in Monte Belvedere for a long weekend in Lisbon and this was the best decision we could have made! This small and private hotel is lovely! We enjoyed the beautiful roof top terrace, the nice breakfast and the super friendly and helpful staff very much! Will come again when in Lisbon and can definitely recommend!... More

Really enjoyed our stay at Monte Belvedere. We were warmly welcomed upon arrival and looked after throughout the stay. The hotel is perfectly located for all around city exploring. We had previously stayed in some of the bigger hotels on Ave da Liberdade but have to say, we preferred the boutique hotel experience of Monte Belvedere. The service was much... More

We stayed two nights and found the location to be very well situated for exploring Lisbon. Our room was very nice and the breakfast on the terrace was wonderful with eggs made to order, an assortment of cheeses and meats, yogurt, crepes and fresh fruit. The view from the terrace was a bonus. Staff were extremely helpful and even made... More

The best about this hotel is it's location. Centrally located in the heart of Lisbon, it won't be any better. The view from the room and the roof terrace is just breathtaking. The service is good, although not the fastest I have experienced. Rooms are ok, but this is not the modern business hotel that I usually stay at. It... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Some say it has the best view of Lisbon! From our panoramic restaurant where breakfast is served every morning for our guests, you will not be indifferent to the Cristo Rei embracing Lisbon, the river Tagus [Tejo], the 25th of April Bridge with lights showing where the Atlantic Ocean begins and also the Basilica da Estrela that stands out between the rooftops of Lapa… However, the main feature of Monte Belvedere by Shiadu is not simply its amazing view! Its 13 rooms, some of which with a magnificent view of the river Tagus , have all the comfort you need for an unforgettable stay and our dedicated staff will welcome you, making you feel as if you were at home. Every day you will enjoy our delicious home-made breakfast prepared just for you! Near Monte Belvedere by Shiadu you will find the Northwind Statue [Estatua do Adamastor] (fictional character created by Luis de Camoes, in his master works The Lusiadas). The higher part of Santa Catarina is one of the most beautiful places of Lisbon and only two steps away from the city buzz. With views over the river Tagus it is said that since the 17th Century this plateau, once known as Monte do Pico or Monte Belvedere, is famous because of its lookout point. According to legend throughout the 16th, 17th and 18th centuries, from here one could see the moving ships: this is why still today there is a proverbial saying that is: “Ver navios no Alto de Santa Catarina” [“Watching the ships from the top of Santa Catarina”). Follow your instinct and we will be waiting…. ... more   less
