For months in advance the staff helped me plan our 8 day stay, and upon arrival all continued to be so helpful. Location wise do easy to jump on subway to get anywhere. We stayed in 804 Presidential Suite, one of 4 rooms on the top floor, which faces the back, so no issues with noise which is really important to us (other than when someone was in the hallway, no carpets and heavy doors, normal for many hotels). That said, during the day there are nearby construction projects. Room is a bit tired, with no modern electronic touches, but bed was comfy. There are two toilets, two sinks, a bathtub and a shower spread out between 3 spaces. To be aware of: breakfast opens at 7:30 which was late for us on days we were headed out early. It was not a cozy room, given the modern style, not a room I would want to curl up in on a rainy day, with an odd round couch. Staff arranged COVID tests from the hotel room, which was incredibly helpful. They also set us up with a wonderful driver, Luis, who took us out for two days in the countryside, Obidos/Peniche/Mafra and Evora areas. Most other guests wore masks in public places, which was helpful.

I stayed at the Fontecruz in January 2020 on a quick trip from Barcelona to see Madonna in concert. The concert was ultimately canceled the night of the performance, but this hotel was a highlight of an all too short trip to the beautiful city of Lisbon.
The Fontecruz is exceptionally well located near everything you would want to walk to. There's also a nice metro to take you a little further out if you want to explore. For a one-night stay, it was the perfect location for a brief exploration.
The staff at the front desk was incredibly friendly and kind. Check-in was easy and the room was large and well stocked - very comfortable! Breakfast was included in the rate I booked and was pretty good, although coming later in the morning meant some of the food had been sitting around for a while since it was not that busy.
There are fantastic bars and restaurants within easy walking distance of the hotel so be sure to explore the surroundings. Would definitely stay here again and hope to make another trip to Portugal to explore this wonderful country.

Usual high Autograph Collection standard. Courteous staff and very good breakfast. Rooms on the Avenida tend to be noisy but it’s a sound compromise between view and tranquility. Our room was spacious, had balcony and was well furbished, large bathroom with a nice in built shower area. Some particularities of the hotel, like the old postcards left in the room for the customers to fill up and send to relatives through the hotel concierge, are really appreciated. Two things I would mention that I didn’t like. Million of TV channels, but not a single one in Italian. And on the first day room wasn’t cleaned and when I called the reception they asked me if I requested the room to be cleaned. What? A five star hotel shouldn’t need that. Just a forgetfulness ? By the way, I had requested it using the little sign attached to the door handle. Maid came immediately up and cleaned the room.

As you pull up outside you’re greeted by two smartly dressed doormen who remove your luggage from the car boot and then offered valet parking for the car (Which we declined as our Tesla does not have a “key” in the traditional sense) this was no problem as one doorman accompanied my husband in the car and directed him to the car park. What a pleasant surprise to find the secure underground parking had EV chargers for guests which is not mentioned on their website. The reception area was large and dark but the mirrors/lighting/decor counterbalanced this. Our luggage was in the room by the time we got there. Bright, spacious room with a large terrace. Large bed with good bedding and pillows. Complimentary bottle of water and toiletries. Very good sized shower. TV with many English speaking channels. We decided to eat dinner in the the hotels outside garden which was lovely. The sliding doors were open and we could hear the piano player. The food was absolutely delicious (I can recommend the shrimp salad and the salmon with lime risotto and the octopus). The waiter recommended a Portuguese wine (normally we go for Spanish) but it was all good and we stuck with this for the entirety of our stay. In the end we ate all 5 of our evening meals at the hotel as the food and setting was so amazing and peaceful. The breakfast offered was the best we’ve ever had in any hotel. Once again we were able to eat in the garden with beautifully set tables. The food and variety of dishes was outstanding from English eggs, bacon etc to all the continental breakfast combinations, different breads/rolls, fresh honeycomb, various nuts and seeds, mini quiche and of course pastel de nata. The hotel itself is located on a very busy thoroughfare and only a 20 minute walk from the River Tegus passing many shops and interesting buildings. The only negative thing was that we felt the housekeeping service let it down. In our 5 day stay the room was serviced daily but on 3 occasions the water, coffee and toiletries were not replenished and I had to keep asking ~ not good enough when paying for a 4*. This was minor in the scheme of things and we would absolutely stay again for the overall service and wonderful food. Highly recommend.

Stayed here for a couple of nights, firstly the location is very good as there are shops and cafes within short walking distance. The staff are superb and most obliging. The food also is excellent as well as the breakfast buffet.
Cleanliness of the room is excellent and the bed extremely comfortable.
Basically there is absolutely nothing wrong with any of the things above which gives it its star rating. However, whilst some guests will love the funky decor I personally didn’t, the hotel has a black and red theme decor (more black) which makes it very dark even though the restaurant is beautifully done. Our room fortunately was quite bright but once again black theme running through it - the lights were lovely especially the standard lamp. The bathroom was very clean but once again in black with the shower up a step next to the toilet, the sink spotless but out of the bathroom as you come in the door ?
Yes I would stay again as the staff were exemplary, the food good, bedroom spotless and bed very comfortable. If it wasn’t for the black everywhere the hotel would have five stars.

The good: The hotel is in the perfect location and has an excellent breakfast.
The bad: There is a sewage smell in room 304. This room is only one of two rooms that have a balcony overlooking Avenue Liberdade and they charge extra to get it. However due to the sewage smell it is uninhabitable. When brought to the staffs attention they said "we know, it's an old hotel" and offered to move me to the back of the hotel. Of course they didn't offer to refund the extra monies paid for the lack of view.
The ugly: At checkout the hotel refused to honor the rate booked. Even though I showed the confirmation email directly from Marriott they simply will not honor the rate. Imagine going to a hotel where they won't honor the rate booked.
The customer service at this property is atrocious and therefore the hotel cannot be recommended.

Dear TravelinShane Thank you for your reviews which deserve all our attention . We are sorry to know you experienced awful smell in your room within your stay. I would like to know if you have tried to reach to the staff in order to get it solved, maybe they could have offered to move rooms because of that issue. I would like to clarify that the hotel is not old as it was opened in 2012 newly constructed, and also the pipeline, but the central drains and waterways that connect our hotel to the main structure in this neighbourhood where we are located is affected by sea tides and bring sometimes the smell everywhere. Otherwise I have take notes about it and reinforce with all the maintenance staff to prevent and avoid those issues for future guest also. I will be really pleased if you directly contact me and let me know about your rate situation at check out, because it is not our procedure and I need to know what was missed or modified in order to help you. Again thank you for your sincere comments and for your loyalty to Marriott. I wish you a Merry Christmas and a happy and healthy 2022 for everyone!!! Regards, and take care, I look forward to your email response MG.

I stayed for 1 night on business so probably not enough time to enjoy the hotel fully. On the whole, a very good option. Great location close to trendy restaurants, luxury shopping and offices. Spacious room and bathroom. I did enjoy the quirky décor with original design ideas and a few touches of humour - even if the result is rather dark on the whole. A real let-down is the buffet breakfast though: whilst there is nothing wrong with the choice/quality, the price is stratospheric; it is a complete rip-off.

This is really a superb boutique style hotel, that offers small style comfort and the benefits of the Marriott Bonvoy programme. Staff is very friendly and service oriented. The location of this hotel is also great, with major shopping and dinning options between 1 and 25 minutes walks. We got upgraded to the the big suite on the 8th floor which was really great. Be sure to check how the a/c works, it's kind of complicated, as if you put it on heating it goes from 24 degrees and up, if you put it on cooling it goes from 23 degrees downwards.

I had a very bad experience with this hotel. First of all, they confirmed my SNA and a day before check in they took it away, yet they still have not given my SNA back. In addition, my flight was 4 hours delayed and I missed my connection to Lisbon, so when I landed around noon in Madrid, I called to cancel my reservation. The lady said no problem that there would be no charge and that as an elite titanium, they would not charge a one night cancellation fee. A day later, the charge was in my credit card. Many emails later and multiple phone calls with no response, with no refund, no contact from the manager (we asked several times to speak to him) and no response. I spent 161 nights this year in Marriott Hotels. No response from this hotel. Terrible service!
