Hotel Mundial has garnered praise for its cleanliness, spacious rooms, and prime location convenient to public transport and attractions. However, the hotel's atmosphere is met with mixed reviews, with a call for updates in common areas despite the modernity of the rooms.
The rooftop bar views and varied breakfast add to the positives, but guests have expressed concerns about noise disturbance, maintenance issues, and the overall value, noting high costs and underwhelming service for the price.

I stayed at this hotel on two occasions, whenever the daily price allowed it and it was not prohibitive. Its location is simply perfect, in front of Martim Moniz square, where all of Lisbon's trams leave, including the famous Tram 28. It is also just a few steps from Rossio Square. In short, you can reach the best places on foot effortlessly.
The rooms are spacious and were renovated a few years ago. The rooms are good, spacious and some have views of Castelo São Jorge.
The breakfast is very good, although I think its quality has dropped a little compared to the first time I stayed there.
The staff are very attentive. The hotel lobby is simply fantastic, very busy, fragrant, with elegant people, a wonderful bar, lots of chairs, sofas, etc. with guests reading, waiting for someone, chatting. A respectful lobby, I would say.
The hotel also has a supermarket on its facade, with interesting things, and there is a market behind it.
The hotel's rooftop has a very popular restaurant and bar, with a beautiful view of Castelo São Jorge, which is lit up at night. It has an air-conditioned area and an open area, full of people and with a DJ playing in the late afternoon.
I recommend.

On arrival, check-in was straightforward, and Thomas was very friendly and helpful. There was a slight delay for our room, to which we had complementary drinks for the inconvenience
Our room was on the 5th floor, room 506, overlooking the court yard. It was clean and tidy. The beds were comfortable. There was a drinks bar, but this wasn't free. The bath / shower could be a little slippery and was easy to use, shampoo, shower jel, and hand soap and towels provided.
The main bar was lovely, and the rooftop had lovely views of the city.
The breakfast buffet was continental, and a wide choice to choose from the only downfall was that the bacon was slightly overcooked on most days.
The only disappointment I had found was that there was no tea, coffee supplied, but a kettle and cups was?.

On first appearance the Mundial appears to be in a shady part of Lisbon but as you enter the revolving doors, it is quite something else! The staff are lovely and welcoming and speak exceptional English and are happy to answer any questions. We stayed in a twin room which was very clean and tidy and had the benefit of having a fridge which was very apppreciated to put our cold drinks in. It did have drinks in it already but beware if you drink them you will be charged at the end of your stay! The bathroom is very clean and has a shower over the bath, bidet, sink and a large frosted window so everything you could ask for really. The rooftop bar is amazing on floor 8 of the hotel and the cocktails are incredible so well worth a visit, we tried a few of them! The hotel buffet style breakfast is amazing and has all that you could wish for and even accommodated vegetarians with roasted tofu which we were very pleased about. We will definitely return here as the hotel is central to most of the Lisbon tourist attractions.

The Mundial Hotel is a large hotel central to the main attractions of Lisbon. All the staff we encountered were warm, friendly and helpful.
The rooms are basic and clean. Our only disappointment was the fact that there was a kettle in the room but no, tea, coffee, milk or even a spoon. We bought tea and milk at the shop next door but we just found it odd that they would supply a kettle but nothing else.
The breakfast area had a good selection of cooked and continental breakfasts. It was always busy but the staff worked quickly to clear the tables to make sure no one was waiting.
We drank in the lobby bar, all the staff were brilliant and the drinks were not badly priced for a hotel bar. We only drank in the rooftop bar once as one evening it was closed and the other days it was far too cold to sit on the roof but the views are fabulous and again the staff were attentive and helpful.
The square where the hotel is based is very run down and if I’m honest felt slightly unsafe but during the day Tram 28 begins its tourist route from here and if you come out do the hotel and turn left you’re literally in the main square and near the main streets. We just avoided the square over the road!
There is a little store next door and plenty of restaurants and bars nearby.
Great location.

We stayed for 5 nights via an offer with British Airways. This included breakfast and one dinner in the panoramic restaurant. The location was faultless, it was central to everything - I would recommend it to others visiting Lisbon.
Rooms: the rooms were a great size. We had a twin so we could separate the beds and there was loads of room for our luggage and importantly - AC! The bathroom felt very dated and needed updating. The shower in the bath tub was ok, but the water didn’t drain very well. The toilet was squeezed in next to the bidet, I would recommend just removing the bidet! The tiles were a bit cracked in places.
Breakfast: the choice was great, we filled up every morning. There was a choice of cooked to continental and also cereals. The staff at breakfast were great, very efficient.
Dinner: we had a lovely dinner in the panoramic restaurant, I can’t comment on value as it was included (as a set menu). The staff were lovely and we enjoyed wine and bubbles!
Rooftop bar: the rooftop bar was amazing for the views. We visited a few times. The food was overpriced and not that great ( we had the club sandwich on the first night). The drinks were a bit more expensive than other places in Lisbon, but you’re paying for the view and they were still much cheaper than London!). The staff were a bit patchy, sometimes we had fantastic servers, but a few times we were forgotten and slow service (you could see other people having the same issue with a particular server who clearly didn’t want to be there!)

The location is really unique. You can reach almost the entire city center on foot. Public transport is also available nearby. We were greeted very warmly at reception and were immediately given a map of the city on which sights were marked according to our interests. The rooms are sufficiently large with plenty of storage options for personal items such as clothing (wardrobe), valuables (safe) and other items (drawers). The room service is very clean. If you like watching TV, you'll have a bit of a hard time. These days it shouldn't be a problem to offer more than one German program. But it wasn't a problem for us. There was a large selection for breakfast. Always fresh fruit, various breads/rolls, fresh sausage and cheese, eggs in various variations, freshly baked pancakes, sweet pastries, yogurt, jams and, and, and... Anyone who talks about a meager breakfast here must have had breakfast in another hotel. The quality of the food is completely fine. Very nice rooftop bar with a sensational view. Unfortunately the music is so loud that you can hardly have a conversation. We met very friendly staff everywhere. Just a note: we are all human and not always in a great mood. We have found that if we greet people with a smile and a friendly greeting, we almost always receive a friendly response. Hotel staff are also human. You should never forget that. And no one is perfect, not even you. So much for the occasional self-righteous assessment here.

The hotel has a great location. It was easy to walk to the major sights in Lisbon and only a few blocks to the Rossi train station for a quick ride to Sintra. We stayed in a triple room which was set up with 3 twin beds, 2 of which were pushed together as a king and one was separate in an alcove but still within the main room. We had a great view of Saint George Castle from our room. The room was clean and well maintained. The area immediately surrounding the hotel had wonderful Indian/Asian restaurants. We felt safe walking around in the evening.
The shower in our room was a problem. The drain cleared very slowly with the water backing up significantly. We asked for maintenance to come clear the drain but the person who came up did not fix the problem. The tub was also very slippery and had a large step to get in. I think it would be difficult for anyone with mobility issues. We had been looking forward to trying the roof top bar during our stay, but it was closed for the 4-day length of our stay because of intermittent rain and cool weather.

Stayed 4 nights during our first visit to Lisbon and Hotel Mundial was in a convenient location with easy walk to Rossio station and most sites. It was busy but check in was quick and easy. The lobby furniture was a bit worn and could use an update. We were in a superior room which was large and clean with a large balcony overlooking Martim Moniz Square. We enjoyed watching the hustle and bustle of city below, the trams and even a parade! The room was quiet once doors were closed and bed was comfortable. The lobby bar area was large with plenty of seating but busy, which was a challenge for the servers and bartenders. We arrived early for a drink on roof top bar and all tables quickly filled. The drinks and views were great. Breakfast was good with many hot and cold choices. All staff we encountered were kind and we appreciated the surprise wine and cheese plate. Thank you!

We had booked this hotel (via loveholidays) in advance for three nights in February. On arrival late at night, we were surprised to discover that there was no record of our booking: the hotel reception told us that they didn't deal with loveholidays, despite us having all the confirmation paperwork. he manager on duty told us that this 'wasn't the hotel's problem". After much discussion, we ended paying up for another room for the night on the understanding that we'd try to sort out the issue in the morning. The following morning we spent much more time at hotel reception - and called loveholidays 'emergency' line in the UK. After various communications between loveholidays, the hotel's reservations team, the intermediary (OTS?) and the front desk, the problem was eventually tracked down to a mistake by the hotel's reservations team, who had transposed a digit in the booking number after it had been received from OTS: this meant that the booking simply didn't appear to the hotel's reception staff on the computer system. So, having been told that this 'is not the hotel's fault', it eventually turned out that it was indeed the fault of the hotel. Despite all the frustration and wasted time (on a visit to Lisbon that was only due to be two and a half days long) we received no apology from the hotel management, and no token of compensation. Given the hotel's really good location (great for walking and for public transport links) and generally good standard of accommodation, it was really disappointing to find such a lack of interest in basic customer service.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this hotel, the most attentive service we have ever experienced throughout our many city breaks. Every member of staff we encountered were friendly and helpful. Our room was spacious and kept spotlessly clean. The breakfast buffet was plentiful, always replenished regularly and tables promptly cleared by the helpful staff. The location was excellent for walking to all the main areas and was close to 2 metro stations and Rossio train station for easy access to airport and travelling to all areas of the city. The rooftop bar was a bonus with beautiful views across the city. We would highly recommend this hotel and would definitely stay here again.

Yes literally downstairs about 2 mins walk! It can be a bit seedy if you go there late at night though but fine if you go during the day, just have your wits about you!
There are more places to choose from in the Lisbon area.
