We stayed in a Zen room which was comfortable and well kept. If we had any criticism of the room it would be the rattle on the glass door to the bathroom, although this was pretty minor. The staff were all very polite and helpful and our trust in their restaurant recommendations turned out to be well placed. The hotel...

Located in Rossio Square, this hotel's location doesn't get any better. We walked everywhere! This hotel is clean and modern. Our room was fairly large considering the age of the building. The breakfast was fantastic with a beautiful view of Rossio. Great, friendly staff that went out of their way to make sure we didn't miss out on anything Lisbon...

We arrived in Lisbon on 14 May after a Long haul flight of over 26 hours, we were exhausted to say the least. We were booked for 5 nights a few blocks away in an apartment. However on arrival we found that their reservation system had booked us for 2014 instead of 2013.Tired, smelly and grumpy we found the Design...

My wife and I loved this hotel as it is right in the centre of Lisbon (it overlooks Rossio square and is near metro stops and is close to the train station), the staff are very friendly and cannot do enough for you, the rooms are modern & clean and the breakfast is amazing. All in all we cannot recommend...

If you like quality and comfort, friendly staff and delicious food, as well as being right in the heart of the city, within walking distance from all the main attractions, then this is the hotel for you. There is nothing to fault and I haven't stopped gushing about it to all my friends since I got back. Look no further...

Our trip to Lisbon could not have been complete if we hadn't stayed in this beautiful gem of a hotel. The hotel is made up of four levels, with a special theme for each level. We stayed in the pop art floor, and it was as quirky as we imagined it to be. Fuchsia walls and toilet paper, blue floors,...

We stayed at the Internacional Design hotel for one night and we were so impressed. This hotel although small in its frontage, is packed with character. From the moment we were greeted at reception, the welcome was warm, with no question to much. We had a cocoon room and I was a little worried about the idea of a 'tiny'...

We came back to this hotel for the second time. The First time (one night only) we had a small room. The second time the room was upstairs in the back of the building. The room was just perfect. We had a goodnight rest and early (4:30am) breakfast in the room. Nice, quiet, beautiful design, friendly people. Breakfast is really...

The location of this hotel was very good as it was right in the city centre. The staff were very nice and the design of the hotel ,especially the restaurant , was very unique. However the rooms were very small and simple. I think the rooms and the reception looked more like a 3 stars hotel and for the price...

This is a great choice...central location, well-appointed and modern rooms, on-site breakfast, restaurant and bar, and very professional and friendly staff. I have stayed at other small luxury hotels and have always been pleased! Traveling with three single friends and we love the area:convenient and safe but not too loud, reasonably priced with good-sized rooms, and very helpful staff.

Staying in Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores

Neighborhood Profile
Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores
A pending candidate to become a World Heritage Site, Lisbon's downtown (the "Baixa Pombalina", or simply "Baixa") is a perfect example of anti-earthquake construction, having been rebuilt following the 1755 earthquake by the famous Marquês de Pombal (hence its name). Its offer is vast: restaurants and cafes in Rossio and Restauradores, outlets and shops in the Áurea, Augusta, Prata and other famous streets, the imponent Praça do Comércio and its Arch, the luxury shops along the Avenida da Liberdade, this is the beating heart of the city center. The Baixa also grants easy access to trains leading to Sintra, the trams that go around the Castle hill, old neighborhoods or even take you to Belém, and Lisbon's traditional restaurants and cafes. Considering a visit to the Fashion and Design Museum (free entrance) and don't forget to try the famous liquor, "ginjinha"!

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Enjoying the best possible location in Lisbon, this modern boutique design hotel is born, like a phoenix, from the ancient structures of one of the first luxury hotels in Portugal. The daring use of the colour Lilac in its façade, right on the traditional Rossio Square, denounce to the world the purposes of reinvention and exclusivity offered to a happy few. ... more   less
